  1. Just to clarify - have you taken off the 11 hours (most) of us managed to get through so far without any gear purchases? ๐Ÿ˜ @dave_bass5fess up mate, have you cracked already?
  2. Haha! Still a free country, so we can do what we like. But as bassfan has just said, sadly I don't think selling gear to replace it qualifies for this thread anymore than doing a paid gig to get new gear or going to work to buy new gear or, better still, sending Mrs Krow out to work to fund new bass gear...
  3. Agreed (and nice journey back to school physics!) Must admit I've not see too many "power" ratings expressed in volts. I would have thought that watts was far more usual, given that it's a measure of power rather than potential difference? But maybe that's just a lay person rather than an engineer's perspective? But surely you and I are missing the really important point of whether this amp is any good for... ... metal.
  4. Aha - thanks, in which case @LukeFRC I stand corrected re volts vs watts!
  5. Agreed! Consumables, repairs, servicing โ‰  new gear. New gear = new gear! Simples Blimey after this year's gear fest, it's gonna feel very virtuous not buying any new gear! Although if I said I was up just one bass, down a cab, and down 3 pedals for 2019 you might consider me to have been very restrained? But if I explained that was the net result of 9 basses , 6 amps and cabs and 43 pedals or pedal-gear being bought, sold or traded you'd get a better feel why @bassfan's 2020 challenge is going to be (a) very cathartic (a good word) and (b) almost impossible ๐Ÿ˜
  6. Haha - black is not too shabby either! I guess I marginally prefer a rich gloss black to the more anaemic matt black of the 735A - although I know that finish has a lot of fans. Now, on the other hand, orange? Somehow that never made it to be the 'new black' for me! ๐Ÿ˜
  7. With you on the white for my Yammy basses!
  8. I presume you meant watts rather than volts? I thought RMS was industry standard - AFIK only Bugera and Trickfish use the non standard peak power rating for their amps. Pretty much everyone else provides an RMS output.
  9. Slightly off beam thought to leave you with: given that your 1024 and 1025 will be รผber similar other than the major difference of 4 vs 5 string - would it be worth considering a 735A instead? It gets pretty close to the 1025 in passive mode, but gives you additional ability to cut through with its active pre-amp.
  10. My more "modern" NE2 is coming in at 10.1lbs, which is top end of comfortable for me. But worth the weight! I'm guessing the ones you played were a fair bit more?
  11. But the funny thing (apart from your quip, Paul!) is that fretless basses do seem to be lighter! I had just assumed my Ibby Portamento 5 was an outlier compared to my other Ibby basses which are all already the lightest in my herd. The fretless Ibby comes in at a feathery 7.7lbs. But seeing John's weights for his basses makes me think this may be something more widespread?
  12. @MrCrane I take it you're an upright player? Can't deny how sexy that DB sounded at 3.27 onwards!
  13. Weird that you and I have had such contrasting experiences of our BBs in terms of their weights. My 735A was pretty much identical in weight to my BB 1025. My P35 was a little heavier at just over 10lbs.
  14. And you good sir are far too kind!! (Tbf - I just cut and pasted from the same web page that had the photo of her pedal board listed). Anyway one good turn and all that - after all I owe you big time for introducing me to the sound of Ayse Hassan!
  15. Haha blasphemy, Mick! You'll be telling me you don't like Darkglass M900 heads next ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜ Wouldn't life be incredibly dull if we all loved the same gear? We'd probably all end up starting threads claiming that everything sounded like everything else...
  16. Here you go: L0/rez Effects Mona Lisa Overdrive Electro-Harmonix Freeze Electro-Harmonix Freeze Boss ODB-3 Bass Overdrive Death By Audio Waveformer Destroyer smallsound/bigsound Team Awesome Fuzz Machine Boss RE-20 Space Echo Boss TU-2 Tuner
  17. @CameronJ just following up on our earlier chat about weights of our 1025s and there must be quite a lot of variation between the same make / model. I just checked and my BB1025 weighs in at a svelte 9.7 lbs.
  18. Apparently not a Tech21 pedal in sight! Ayse Hassan โ€“ Savages โ€“ Pedalboard
  19. If you had seen the stardust that we're all ultimately made of, it's pretty hard to disagree that everything is ultimately the same as everything else.
  20. @Ricky 4000 - I can see why you like that! P bass + Tech21 pedal? (None of the current batch given the video is 2013). That P bass totally didn't sound like your standard P bass, but it's a great sound.
  21. What's the equivalent of Specsavers for us bass-players?! ๐Ÿ˜
  22. In case you've not seen...
  23. Worth also checking the bespoke footswitch that @bassfan had made for his Mesa M6, for a reasonable price I recall.
  24. Wow Frank - have to admit that trying to put a label on the genre of that track isn't immediately obvious! Does it fall under, profound, profane or punctual?!
  25. Looking to add a 1025X to your lovely 1024X I see! Fair enough ๐Ÿ˜
