The basses look great! Can any of you excellent Sei owners give me a steer on what they cost new these days, ball park?

Just seen this on a fBook thread: "I was just playing on my studio, as usual, suddenly I hear a few loud pops. a few minutes later, again but much worse and for longer, I look at the CQ-18T screen and it was like all the channels had very loud inputs and the screen was flickering..." Those symptoms seem pretty identical to what I've been getting. Which is kinda worrying that this might be a design flaw. However, he did follow up with this: "Update - I think I've found the issue!! I've moved some cables recently and I left one of the outputs cables running in parallel to a power cable. Once I re-organized the cables it didn't happen again." No idea what he meant by "running in parallel to a power cable" or whether that gives any wiser folk than me a clue as to what might be the cause?

Not connected either to wifi or bluetooth. Inputs: - Stereo in from PC - plus a couple inputs from Zoom (for drums) and bass via GX10. Was coming through both speakers.

The A&H has an external 12V 5Amp DC PSU It seems to go off when unattended rather than in use, although there were a few crackles at the venue last night, which worried me, but our guitarist thought it might have been a loose lead. I managed to take a quick clip of it crackling yesterday (rushed downstairs to get the last few seconds if it), and you can just make out that there are spikes on all the channels when this is occurring. Would an extension lead with surge or other protection also be a sensible step to take? Any particular type you recommend?

Just seen a GT-1B in the for sale. Hadn't appreciated the similarities between the two in terms of layout (or even that the GT-1B existed!), with the new GX-1B looking like a cool update of the "1B" range.

Thanks @Woodinblack - super helpful as always! I guess the question is whether we use our own PA which we've been doing for several years there, and augment it with their in-house PA which extends into other rooms, or just try to use their in-house PA. I was thinking the former for the first time so our own PA would be taking the main desk outs as usual, and their in house PA effectively becomes a glorified venue monitor? Given that we don't pan our outputs, I'm assuming that a single "monitor" lead into their house PA from one of our aux outs using their cable should therefore be fine?

On an unrelated point - I seem to be getting loud crackles and pops coming through my home RCF monitors when the set up has been left on and unattended for a couple of hours. It's now happened on a several different occasions over a period of weeks and occurs when it's just the desk connected up to the monitors, which pinpoints it as being a desk issue (or possibly a monitor issue, but I would have thought less likely). Any particular reasons why this might be occurring, or just likely to be a fault with the desk which needs checking out under warranty? In which case I'll get it checked out with Andertons whom I got the desk from 15 months back.

Oh that is major event for you guys! Did his departure come as a surprise and / or was it done amicably? I guess your guitarist deserved a well-earned retirement and, as you say, it could be a good thing for the band once the dust settles - I suspect you may not be short of candidates to join such an established band!

Sorry, I should have stated that those are the pictures supplied by the venue and that is the lead that the venue have been providing to their other acts. I'll see if I can find out a bit more.

Not quite sure where to post this query, but here seemed as good a place as any! We've been asked to connect to the house PA for a forthcoming gig and they've provided us with a couple of pics showing the set up, and they have a connecting cable provided. It looks like they'll be providing a TRS --> xlr cable to connect our desk output. I'm guessing that the cable will likely be balanced mono (and a not a stereo) TRS, and therefore will plug into one of the aux outs from our desk? Does that sound correct?

Yeah, clarification required i.e. in the budget compact format end of the market that the Xvive U4 etc being discussed have muscled into. It was certainly one of the more popular wireless devices on BC a few years back. Seems to have faded from view these days. -
Be interesting to hear if it's any good first 😅 The best multi-fx bass synth patch in the budget / mid-tier range I've come across is still by...Zoom.

Very helpful thanks! I, for one, would miss the parallel processing - it's a very neat way of having a number of variations on one patch, without needing to scroll patches. And the larger touch screen is definitely helpful for ease of reading patch names from a greater distance, plus on-pedal editing. But great that Boss are giving bassists options, and whilst I'm not trading in my (your ex :)) GX10, I would take this over eg a Zoom B2-4, which I guess is its likely target competition?

You have an original one? Respect! Discombobulating - an excellent word. And very serendipitous that you had chance to use it in an a manner that wasn't obviously otiose. The only clip so far I've seen is 13 seconds of the Andertons guy on their sales pitch for the pedal. It sounded "ok". I'm hoping that @sshorepunk will be able to provide us with something more fulsome!

Smooth-hound wireless, when it was market leader, back in the day, was 5ms to 8ms, if I remember correctly. Can't recall if that was ever an issue for most of us? I think the point folk did make was the cumulative nature of latency when adding the impact of pedals. It's the next but one successor U4 (mono 2.4 GHz) -> U45 (mono 5.8 GHz)-> U45D (stereo 5.8 GHz) i.e. giving the benefit of 5.8 GHz and stereo, and I guess partly in response to the Swiff WX-520 coming on the scene. It will likely be 2 to 3 times the price of the Swiff though i.e. £200+ for the U45D vs around £80 for the Swiff (on Ali Express). In addition the Swiff would appear to be a neater set-up, without that cumbersome external second balanced-mono input to achieve stereo. Hmmm...I already think I know which system I'll be heading down when it comes to upgrading my U4 😅

@Woodinblack just following up on the Swiff WX520 and a couple of online comments (summarised by Google), given this is on our band shopping list as a 5.8 GHz wireless. Real-world latency is often much higher than advertised (e.g., 10ms vs. 5ms claim). Exhibits a noticeable high-frequency roll-off (from 6kHz) and increased distortion above 4kHz, making it sound dull. Does the first of those tie up with your experience - is it something you can test? I guess the second is not going to be more of an issue for guitarists than us bass players, but may impact female vox if it's an issue?
