  1. So is there a first album somewhere you'd be happy for us to have a listen to?
  2. Size 12 Bristol Cowboy I think we need keep that in reserve for your next band or album name. That is a real shame!
  3. I think you boys need to start a new thread about appropriate foot wear for bass players. In your case Cuzzie that will be restricted to size 12s...
  4. Whereas my journey over the past decade has involved graduating from being a 'bass 'pacifist' in 2009 with the missus' old Aria Pro II lurking unused in the house - thank God we didn't sell it before I discovered what fun bass is - to now an incompetent (I am led to believe πŸ˜‚) weekend warrior with a love for Yammy basses. Funny how journeys can go via very different routes but end up at the same destination. You got any footage of your time playing live during your dream period? Love to see.
  5. Came across this 3way 12" cab in the FS thread. I've not come across this cab before and can't seem to find too much online from a quick search. Anyone got a bit more detail / experience about them - I guess @Matte_black who owns this would be a good person to start by asking! I'm guessing just based on the quality head it's been paired with, it's a great cab! Wondering what sort of price / where buy from / spec / and how they stack up against the cabs in the OP? [Update: these 3way cabs seem to be a DIY kit, so going to be beyond the capabilities of a happy amateur like me! ]
  6. Did you manage to get across to BD try one out - if so, what did you think?
  7. Just seen you've got your BB 1024X up for sale (and @jezzaboy has also got the 1024 he bought and sold...and bought back again(!) in the FS also). We all know that this are a great bit of kit... (GLWTS btw on both of those guys). So it does beg the question what was the dream that you were close back around 2009?
  8. Some really good prices - a vgc MS-60B for Β£40 is a steal! GLWTS
  9. "Defo not crap" leaves a lot of space for improvement! And I know you know a thing or two about pups.
  10. I suspect with with the Sandberg V/T (= P/J) you would also have the ability to blend as you can also do on the current Yammy BB range.
  11. I've got a sneaky suspicion that it was old King Lear who said that "never a truer word than spoken in jest". I bet he was incompetent on bass as well πŸ˜€
  12. Aha so exploring a new piece of gear with mates is 'incompetence' in your world? I find myself understanding and in total agreement with @AndyTravis's earlier comment about you now! πŸ˜‚ Hope you have a good evening gigging too.
  13. Well how spooky is that. Congratulations! As @bassfan might say in another universe, it seems to be missing one string...🀣
  14. If you wouldn't mind 😁 Thanks!
  15. Lol! You said you'd already voted... I hope you are / were a bit tighter with your time keeping when it comes to the kick-drum and not eventually deciding when to come in πŸ€£πŸ˜πŸ˜ƒ Speaking of which, best start getting my sh*t together for our gig tonight in deepest darkest Essex...
  16. But weirdly your vote is not showing up on the poll! πŸ™ƒ It is now!
  17. SiM super quads These do look really interesting given the complete flexibility they offer. Has anyone had experience of them for good or ill? If they're the business then definitely worth exploring.
  18. Did I incorrectly remember you getting both these lovely basses?! If so, I now understand the large amount of confusion I seem to have caused you from your 'reactions' today! "put up with" in the sense of e.g. having to put up with having Brian May as your dep guitarist if you happened to be in a Queen tribute band 😁
  19. I'm using a Mesa M6 on setting 4 (slight mid boost) via a VK210. With a touch of mid boost on the active bass EQ. (Plenty of headroom and I'm not sure there's a better amp out there for the money! ) Delivers a punchy throaty mid on the 3/4 J setting. Remember there is no ability to push the mids on purely passive on the BB 735A (or other BBs), it's just a treble roll off. So you're going to get a different flavour tonally between active and passive settings. I know bass gurus such as Scott Devine say that active vs passive has no impact on bass tone. On the this one I'm struggling to see that he's entirely right.
  20. And you've suddenly developed a taste for 'black'? πŸ˜‚
  21. Ditto - really liking my P/Js (all Yammys) a LOT. Had a MM set up in a Warwick and a Berg previously and with the choice of single and double coils on the MM you get P / J and P / MM wrapped up in one. If I was refining it further then maybe reverse P / MM (with single and double coil MM selector) could actually be where I'm heading. Never say never, Mr Bassfan. You've led by example
  22. Ok I'm already learning something...what's the difference between a T and either the J or MM in terms of how they are wired up?
  23. Dang! I think it could actually be a P / MM for me rather than a P / J, but it's going to be a close run thing. Does that mean I'm going to have to get a Sandberg? Noooooo.....πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜
  24. Actually adding a bit of dirt is definitely on point for that one, Mark! But if you're having to "put up with" πŸ˜€ a BB P34 (or was it a P35?) then I'm guessing then there's likely to be a little less inherent grit in the all passive circuitry in comparison to the 735A in active mode? Be interesting to A/B them at some point, but best if you do that without me as I'll just have a bad case of bass envy if I get to hear your BB P34 in the flesh πŸ˜‚
  25. Bit of (hopefully!) interesting fun for this weekend: So you're allowed just one bass to keep. What pup set up would it have? I guess we're going to be agreed that there are three main 'flavours': P, J and MM But let's not limit ourselves to just these and chuck in the most common alternatives (neck) / (bridge): P/J, P/MM, P/P, J/J, J/MM, MM/MM I know there will be a few other variations and if you're desperate for one of these we can include an 'other please specify' category - but you should be obliged to post a pic of your set up if you're choosing this. And I hope we're also all agreed there is no right answer (even if most pros do apparently use Ps ) only a right answer for us... Weird thing is, I'm just realising that my favourite config is actually one that I don't currently have (lol!). Oh dear, why does starting a thread always lead to GAS? PS I guess I should strictly have included reverse P as a commonly liked alternative, but then that adds a lot of additional variants i.e. reverse P / J etc. so to keep things simple let's include reverse P as a subset of P.
