1.
Looking forward to this! Curious to see how DV are going to fit 200 people in too!
I'll be interested to see this, too. The store does have the upstairs part so maybe that's where it will take place. Of course, the building itself was at one time the old Music Tek rehearsal studios (1st, 2nd, 3rd floors etc), complete with showcase area and bar, though I'm not sure if DV have the run of the whole building now.
 2.
If it IS a pedal steel, Stingray5 got there first:
Hehe - I thank you! So, 7string, how are you tuning your pedal steel? I've worked with a few pedal steelies in the past and always loved the twin neck tuning of C6 and E9 (great for Western Swing).
 3.
Its Date stamped Nov 24 1982 and all checks out original for that date.I have a rectangular case of the same age but its not what it came in although it might be a musicman case,No one seems to know exactly what cases are correct for which year? Thanks for that on the mouse mat,I have seen that before somewhere but I had forgot! I read somewhere that you can buy them from Ernie Ball anyway but with the classic ray out maybe even more possible.Im going to get some more pics took today for insurance if nothing else showing it at my house. The pickguard will always be a personal thing but my eb has a black one so its a bit different also check out how clearly you can see John Deacon in the another bites the dust video with his white pickguard at one time it was easy to tell it was a ray with the underslung tuner but with all the 5 stringers out there that have copied it the next sure sign is always the big humbucker sat on that scratchplate!
Thanks for the extra info. I must say I've always liked the look of JD's Stingray in the Queen video, being the darker sunburst finish with white guard.
Here you go,What a lovely pair!
Yep, a very nice pair, all the same.
 4.
the best way is to cut an old mouse pad in the size of a mute
+1 on the mouse pad (or try ebay during the next blue moon! ). That's certainly a very nice looking Ray. Do you know the year, at all? Not sure about the plain white guard on the natural body, to be perfectly honest. But that's just me!
 5. Thanks, B5. I must admit to not being familiar with this guy. Til now! Nice tone and I love how he and the drummer are locked in good and tight -- something that turns me on far more than most super-pyrotechnical-bass-widdlyness these days.
 6. Lord Lucan Jimmy Hoffa The head of Alfredo Garcia
 7. Coincidentally, I was just checking out their Ric-type basses when I saw your post. Your Aero 2 looks really nice. I'm with cetera, hoping we might get a more in-depth review, once you've had a chance to get to know it better! One minor question - is the back contoured? (It looks like it, looking at the top edge of the bass in your middle photo).
 8.
As a minimum use wireless for mics and for your bass. Have a big tarp to cover your amp. (cheap from a DIY store) Agree to meet an hour before setting up to review the weather situation and forecast.. The sunny day and the tipping down day are not the problem. It's the "will it, won't it" day that's the risky situation.. The stage should be suitably protected with roof and side sheets. I imagine the event insurers would insist anyway) oh and make sure you agree that you get paid if it's raining, assuming you're getting a fee for this one
+1
 9. Very nicely done. Nice use of video too, though it would be nice to have seen the other player(s) involved too (if you have that footage).
 10. Fork handles... Assorted holes... A long wait... A rubber shovel...
 11.
I voted other....can you get an orange pickguard...no really, the combination really works well...KTM's?
Orange and black? Jacobs Cream Crackers!
 12. I voted black too, though I do quite like red tort on black. If you kept it white, how about going with white pearl? I did that with my own Jazz, (also my 'Ray). Much nicer, imho!
 13. Pedal Steel (twin-neck? or possibly a single?)
 14.
Folks, I have lusted after a Westone Thunder 3 Fretless for as long as I can recall after seeing Henry Thomas on the 80's show Rockschool play one. I had no idea what to pay as these babes come up so rarely. I saw one go for £375 a couple of years back so took a punt at £400 and managed to secure it, its in great conditon did I pay over the odds or just right? I just didn't feel I could hang about. Steve.
Link? Pics? £400 might be at the higher end of what these are generally going for, though not by much. A Thunder II recently went for £321 and I just put a link to another Thunder II in the Ebay Links section (4 days to run). And one recent over-optimistic seller stuck one on Ebay for a BIN of £700! (Tbh, can't remember if it was a II or III). Bottom line is, if you're happy with it and it's a good one, you could well have a bass for life there.

 16. The owner of this rather nice looking Thunder II states it has never been gigged. It's currently at just over £100 (not that it's gonna finish there! ) Would be a perfect match for my fretless but....no....must....resist.... 17. Ooh, I just stumbled on this thread so thought I'd add my two-pence-worth. Or rather I should say my two Westies worth! Also got the two Rays though they're really more cousins, one 5 and one 4. What I'd like now is a 4 or 5-string match for my Tune bass. (Click on my sig pic below if you want a closer look).
 18. That's a beaut, Clarky! Knowing even some of your collection, I don't think I'd have the heart to ask you to choose your 'desert island bass'... (That said, feel free to respond if you want to. )
 19. I don't suppose it had anything to do with your band simply having a better sound balance overall, compared to the other three bands and the "rock sludge of their guitarists" (not to mention possibly their drummers, too) simply drowning out the respective basses? Or perhaps the other bass players just weren't man enough to be driving Stingray's/Sterling's!
 20.
This is a clip from that gig. Garry
Mmmm, nice!
 21.
My best best best album
Absolutely! I just had to give it another play myself before leaving the page.
 22.
Aw Looking for tracks to do in my new trio project I was looking forward to seeing how three people managed this ..
Well, chaps, the clue was in the title 'CGT+2' although more correctly, from the album, they are 'CG3+2'. I managed to catch the CGT + Tony Levin in the US some years ago and they were amazing. It was Levin's gig but he was happy to play the supporting role a lot of the time and also left the stage at one point to let them do their thing. Which included a superb version of 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. I must admit I wouldn't have minded a drummer coming on stage for a number or two, but all the same, it was still a great evening.
yep....trio..?????? You would think Levin would get those stick extentions made up properly for the amount of time he features them... Plasters..??
I know - they always look as if they're about to drop off any second! I tried it once with some lolly sticks and gaffa tape! Just don't forget to take 'em off if you go for a pee!!
 23.
Don't think this has been posted yet: Here's a 'live' version from Soul Train which opens with the bass man playing the riff with a pick. Faster than the original but the suits & dancing are worth a look, lol:
I always loved that opening; one of the few numbers where I might use a pick.
 24. Here's something for Monday lunchtime! I thought I'd post this live version of "Heart of the Sunrise" by California Guitar Trio with Tony Levin and Pat Mastelotto. It's a very faithful recreation of the Yes original (though with no keyboards or vocals). If you like, here's their original recording of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ka24HSdNEO0
 25.
Can't remember if this was done previously, but this is excellent in the groove dept: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tguN_cyHRj4...t=1&index=3
Pretty damn funky too, Pete!
