  1. Indeed, I saw the photos! I was so up for it but then band work on the same weekend clashed. To say I was gutted would be an understatement. 😒
  2. Haha, I definitely had a jacket like that circa 1985! 😁 And yes, of course, what I meant to say was 'downgraded'... πŸ˜„
  3. I couldn't find a clip from Rock School that may have showed Henry playing his Westone, but here's part of one of the episodes from, I think, around the mid to late 80's. He's upgraded slightly -- to a Wal 5-string! 😊
  4. Hehe, indeed it was a long time ago - I'm slightly surprised I even remembered it, myself. (Just don't ask me what I had for breakfast! πŸ˜‰)
  5. A big +1 for Rock School though I always thought H.T.'s nickname was 'King Thumb'. 😊

Appreciate you're new to Basschat so welcome and apologies for the seemingly late reply but some topics get more 'traffic' than others and it depends who's around to answer specific questions. Personally, I've not been on BC for a while (just busy) and just spotted your posts, but in answer to your question, you might try the Jim Dunlop 65 series of cleaning products (including lemon oil). Nice TWB43 btw πŸ‘. It just so happens I recently picked up another Tune, a TWB4Z (w/piezo pickup), right here on Basschat. They're excellent basses. Hope you enjoy yours πŸ™‚
  7. Amazing versatile basses. I have two of 'em (see my signature pic below), although mine are around 81/82 with the double P pickups. GLWTS.
  8. What a beauty! And you weren't exaggerating about that neck. I'm not surprised it's already on hold. πŸ‘πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘
  9. Drivng home from Hereford last night, I was feeling absolutely gutted that I had to miss the Bash, but many thanks to Mick ( @TheGreek ) and Trevor ( @TrevorR ) for posting the photos. Of course, now I'm feeling even more gutted! πŸ‘πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘
  10. Another dropout here, I'm afraid. 😒 I was really looking forward to this (especially as I had to miss last year after my car was written off), but recording commitments this week now mean I won't be able to sneak away for a few hours. However, if there's any change of plan and I can make it along, then I'll be there.

  13. Yay and thrice Yay! I've been keeping my fingers well and truly crossed for this since I couldn't make last year thanks to some nasty scrotes totalling my car. I'll also have a look in the bass-ment for some raffle goodies. 14. My SR5 is also an early one (1989) which I've had for over 25 years. I can't say I've ever had a problem with the neck radius and, as others have said, I would say the depth of the neck is pretty shallow (though not overly so). It's certainly not uncomfortable (at least not for me). Yes, the G string runs a little close to the edge but I can't say it's ever been a problem for me. As @snorkie635 has said, you could try wearing the bass a tad higher. Or maybe raise the angle of the neck a little? As it happens, I also have the HB SR5 copy (newer type), bought used from Ebay, it's had a couple of mods. The neck is slightly chunkier but not really a problem. But of course, it's all very much personal preference. I hope you're at least able to find an MM SR5 at some point and give it a try.
  15. This was one of my dream basses back then, it still oozes quality. (I still have the Ibanez catalogues somewhere). I remember Soundwave, too, which later became Monkey Business. GLWTS.
  16. Congrats and well done on what looks like a beaut of a bass. Hope the bass you're after comes your way, but I wouldn't blame you if you did decide to keep this one. GLWTS πŸ™‚
  17. Super Basschatter Davie is a top man to deal with. Good communication with absolutely no problems and the bass I purchased (a Tune TWB-4Z) was extremely well packed. Two thumbs up πŸ‘πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘
  18. 1989 EBMM Stingray5. I've owned this since 1998 when it immediately became, and still is, my main go to bass.
  19. Wow, yeah, I'm kinda surprised to see this on offer. I can certainly testify to the quality of this SR5 (as if anyone needed convincing! πŸ˜‰). Best of luck with the sale.
  20. That's a lovely bass and would sit very nicely with my TWB-6. Sadly, it's pretty much out of my reach. Actually, my band (Landmarq) were brought in as John's band for a brief time, playing gigs in Holland and Germany at the end of his Chasing The Dragon tour (mid 90s), although he was using Fernandes at that time. I hadn't realized he had a TWB series and was just wondering if you know roughly when that may have been? GLWTS btw 😊
  21. I was thinking the exact same thing. Not sure you'll need it, but GLWTS 😊
  22. It's been a while since I posted here so thought I'd pop this pic of me 'n' my '89 Ray5 at a recent festival gig. Bought in '97, it's been my main go-to bass ever since. All original apart from the white pearl plate. Yeah, it's weightier than a modern Ray -- about 10.5 lbs -- but it's not really a problem. Ask me again when I'm the other side of 70! πŸ‘πŸ€ πŸ‘
