1. Back up for sale and still open to offers. The bass has been with Si [member='Geddys Nose'] so if you want an independent appraisal drop him a message. This is a quality instrument (think Warwick quality)
2.
You can get a lot of bang for your buck at £300 with the right deals. If you want something Jap, check my signature
Is this allowed? surely my plug for my hand-built Polish bass is, but I'm not sure about Japanese built basses?
3. A wonderful Fame I have for sale
4. We have some in the bathroom, they scare me...

7. If no takers (for what is a £750 new current model) this will have to go under the bed.

11. Whats all this, we'll have no trouble round here..... PLEASE NOTE: THIS ITEM IS STRICTLY LOCAL PICKUP ONLY
12. Saturday Bump Open to trades (bass valve amp / combo) Matsumoko basses, anything considered. Prefer single coil or Precision pup basses.
13. Bought my Farida Jazz, straightforward fuss free sale, thanks Shaun, hope you enjoy it....
14.
There should be far more choice with short scale basses. Normal scale length is unnecessarily, ridiculously huge IMO
Couldn't agree more, unfortunately they are seen as 'lesser' basses, or basses for kids and as such there are very few top quality short scales about. I still have faith in them and will return to producing them in the near future.
15. Bump with a huge price reduction to what is a £700+ bass when new.
16.
I think you are right with that theory. Any pub that takes care to select good hand pulls that punters like to drink will bring in people looking for more than a really cheap beer (working mens / cons club for that) or fancy alcopop type stuff. It means they know the market, their customer base, and take time to get it right. The other comment about toilets really strikes a chord. I have a friend with a pretty good restaurant in London, and he says that the toilets, cellars and kitchens are one of the same in any establishment. If they cannot be bothered to clean and maintain the toilets (the bits the punters see) then you can be sure they are not cleaning the bits they can't see! Toilets=cellars=kitchens, and from my experiences I think it is generally true. Cheers, Rich

17. Price reduction (Final) and a Sunday Bump. Amazing bass for the price and half the cost of a new one.
18. Price reduction (final) and a Sunday Bump
19.
Ampeg PF500, Ashdown Superfly?
And many others. The forum is littered with amp fail threads. [topic='185862'][/topic]
20. Two distinct phases, firstly the late 60's early 70's when I had no control over what I listened to, and then the mid 70's onwards when I could buy and listen to what I chose to. From the first phase, Dione Warwick, Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Bill Haley, Mantovani, Acker Bilk, Musicals, Jim Reeves (cheers grandma) and Bach and Beethoven courtesy of my piano playing brother. When I could choose, Hendrix, Stanley Clark, Weather Report, Punk, Reggae (African Dub, I-Roy, U-Roy, Gladiators) Bowie, Soft Machine, Cream.
21.
That already exists. Buy an early 70s WEM Dominator 25 (the one with the 15" Celestion, not the 12" jobbie). 15W of pure valve tone in a glorious open-backed cab, available at home rehearsal volume levels, capable of handling small gigs too, and best of all you won't lose money on it.
Thanks Jack, I have been looking at these but only the combo's seem to come up for sale and I would prefer a head
22. The price is coming down drastically http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161222244364?_trksid=p2055120.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
23.
No idea what that amp sounds like, but I'm certainly struggling with the controls. I'm a great believer in simplicity with amps, and especially so with valve amps. That combination of knobs and switches, channels and bright blue LEDs, promises entire gigs of fiddling about with the sound without in any way improving the bass playing ...
I have been searching in vain for a good, simple, relatively inexpensive, low wattage bass valve head. Guitarists are catered for with a plethora of small valve amps from the £69.00 1watt Kustom to the £250.00 20watt VHT, but these are all high gain screamers. I really think there is a gap in the market for someone to fill here. What do you really need on a nice warm sounding valve practice amp. High low gain input jacks / Volume / Treble / Bass. 8ohm Speakon on the back. Simples
24. This one is going round in circles now. I think what has been established is that provided a cab (cabs) is matched to an amp correctly no harm should come of it. With modern solid state amps, running at 8ohms as opposed to 4ohms puts less electrical strain on the amp. (lower wattage / lower current flow) Amps sometimes fail (for various reasons) Mathematics dictate volume/loudness (SPL) not hearsay or witchcraft. High efficiency speakers (sensitivity in dB) can double (10dB) the loudness of an amp. If we bring valve amps into the equation it gets much more complicated.
