1. I'm assuming this has gone already but if not, I'll take it.
  2.
I'm with markstuk here although I too would wait & see the band first. Alarm bells should be ringing but it *could* be quite genuine. A minor pain if you have had to put a lot into learning stuff. Fingers crossed it all works out ok
Yep, you've learnt all the songs so you might as well audition if it's been organised. First thing to sort out though would be a new "Manager" by the sounds of things.
  3. I'll take them if they're still avail.
  4.
I have decided to go down the seperate Amp head route rather than use a combo hence putting this up for trade. It's a MarkBass 121P (V1) combo - great little amp you can carry with one hand. I have always used it with a matching MarkBass NY121 cab so it's never been pushed very hard as this gave it massive headroom even playing larger venues. Ideally looking for a MarkBass head of some description. Cheers Martin (I will post pics later on)
Do you have a price in mind, I might be interested.
  5.
Thanks for the welcome, the Eppie is here and needs a good new home - unmarked, new set of strings from Chris at Overwater. I'll post some pics!
Welcome to the site Jake. I'm also interested in the 5 string acoustic if Blademan passes up on the offer.
  6. Hit me with what you've got. I'm happy to let this run until I find the right amp. As the title says, I've got an absolutely stunning SVT6 Pro which is just too heavy for me. I'm 5' 6" and getting too close to 50 so I need to trade for something lighter. Condition wise it is excellent and has never let me down, sounds absolutely awesome and has a broad range of tones thanks to its parametric equaliser. It will come with a rackcase. Here's the official blurb below. I'll get some pics up if there's interest. RMS Power Output (8 Ohms): 750-Watts RMS Power Output (4 Ohms): 1100-Watts Preamp: Tubes (2 x 12AX7) Driver Tubes: 2 x 12AU7, 2 x 12AX7 Power Amp: Solid State Tone Controls: Bass and Treble Mid Tone Control: 4-Band Semi-Parametric Ultra Low/High Boosts: Yes Balanced Line Out: Yes, Pre/Post with Level and Ground Lift Effects Loop: Yes Preamp Out/Power Amp In: Yes Dimensions (W x H x D inches): 19 x 3.5 x 15 Weight: 41 Pounds So you've searched high and low for the perfect bass amp, and have all but given up, because your dream amp is maybe just that, a dream. You know, the one with a zillion watts, and gobs and gobs of tone. It really does exist, you just haven't played through it yet—meet the SVT-6PRO! Ampeg's SVT-6PRO combines all the beautiful tone of tubes with the solid-state reliability of a MOSFET output stage, to provide massive output and a virtually unlimited tone palette. An onboard 4-Band Semi-Parametric EQ section gives you +/-18dB of adjustment per band, so you can dial in even the most subtle tonal nuances. And the power amp section delivers a whopping 1100 watts RMS at 4 ohms! SVT-6PRO also features built-in Compression at the input stage, and a Tube Voltage control for adjusting the response of the power amp driver tubes. The SVT-6PRO is designed for the serious player who demands the ultimate tone-shaping machine, in a convenient, high-powered, rackmount package. Just ask Tom Hamilton (Aerosmith), Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Beck/Ima Robot), or Garry Beers of INXS, and they'll tell you why the Ampeg SVT-6PRO is the top choice of professional bass players the world over. 1/4" and Neutrik Speakon® Outputs Input Peak LED Tube Voltage Control 4:1 Input Compression Effects Loop
Yep, playing the 'apres ski' in places like Meribel they built up a very tight set of covers, then branched into writing their own stuff....
Yep, here they are on the day playing two covers. They did a few more covers but I didn't record them. The Feeling - Rond Point
Richard is a lovely bloke and a great melodic bassist to boot! Please tell him "Hi!" from Gary (his contact at PRS)
Got the message across, he'll text you. If he says some mad Scotsman was heckling him (in a nice way), it was me By the way, they were absolutely brilliant it's not every day you get to see a band like that doing a pub gig. It was my sister in laws 50th birthday as well which made it all the more special.

    The Feeling

I'm skiing in Meribel this week and it turns out The Feeling were playing here too. Watched them on Sunday night in an outdoor concert and they were very good. They're playing at Rond Point shortly, I'm already here having my après ski, just had a chat to the Bass Player, seems a very nice down to earth chap and his Bass Playing is to notch. He's using a guild bass through an Ampeg amp, sounds great. Does après ski get any better
Both my hands are up
  12.
Like I said make a day of if. Go and have a chin wag with one of our bass-maker gods and have a gander a some of the basses he's working on. You'll likely get your bass back there and then too if he's expecting you. I don't want to cast aspersions on your local luthier either but "raised frets" from the 12th fret up would suggest to me a tweak of the tr is all that's needed. But hey I'm 500 miles away and he's had it in his hands.
That would make more sense to me, I've got a Shuker and the build quality is superb. I can't see your Bass needing a fret dress especially if it's brand new. Your Luthier might be charging you £70 to turn an Allen key a quarter turn.
  13.
Bad Company picked Boz Burrell (RIP) because he was an nice n easy chap to get along with, not because of his playing ability. On that note, just have fun!!
+1 to this. More than half the audition will be about the chemistry between you and the other band members. Good luck.
  14. Due to a change in circumstances regards my gigging situation (I've joined another band) I'm looking to trade my Ampeg SVT6 Pro for an TC Electronic RH450 or similar. I'll get pictures up if anyone is interested.
  15. It was mentioned about the acoustic aspect of the band but like i said, I'll know more on Thursday I'll be taking my Shuker to the audition, who knows, the sound of that might blow them away. That's interesting about the feedback comment, I might use that one
  16. Ok I'm getting ahead of myself here. I'm going for an audition on Thursday night with a Celtic Rock Band. Mainly amped acoustic stuff doing songs by Travis, The Waterboys etc. with a few originals thrown in for good measure. The band have told me that they want an acoustic look which means I'm going to need an acoustic Bass. Ideally I'd be looking at a 5 string acoustic Bass as I only play 5 string these days therefore I'm looking for some recommendations assuming that all goes well on Thursday. Secondly my amp is an Ampeg SVTPro6 coupled to a TC Electronics 4x10 cab. Do you think this would be ok for gigs or is it overkill. Apparently the band have some big gigs lined up, I'll find out more on Thursday. Over to you.
  17. £40 postage for a fake Fender
  18. WOW that has to be one of the nicest T40's I've ever seen Have a bump on me.
  19.
Seriously, the guy wants five and a half grand for this bass, and he lists it with one very poor photo, and a vague description all in small type. So like I said: How lazy can you be for £5,500?! I find this absolutely mind boggling. Gah! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-1966-Jazz-Bas...d-/180625696388
Maybe he thinks that anyone wanting to pay £5500 for a Bass would actually go and look at it before forking out the cash. I know I would, regardless of the distance. In saying that, yes he could have put a few better pics on even just for us BC's to drool over
  20. Pickups look like they are Lace sensors, if they are they cost over £100 alone. This is a bargain price for this guitar folks, if I didn't have a skiing holiday in 3 weeks time I'd have snapped it up.
  21. Received a Bass from Andy today. Really great guy to deal with, fast postage and friendly communication made for a nice easy hassle free transaction.
  22. I used to have a Hohner Jack 4 string, it was a great bass, loads of growl and perfectly balanced. If I could find a 5 string model I'd snap it up in a heartbeat.
  23.
Hello. I decided to start this for my own interest but I suppose it'll prove interesting for most of us. What I'd like you to do is copy the form below and reply with it filled in. In a couple of weeks I'll collate the responses and we'll see what's out there! -Your first bass is fairly self explanatory. -Your go-to bass I mean the one bass you'd take to cover all bases in a way. For example you get called to a gig blind and you need a reliable bass that'll be able to do anything and work well. -And 'Your' bass means the bass that gives you YOUR tone, The one bit of wood that's your signature. You can only put ONE bass for each category, no matter how much it might pain you!
First Bass Owned: Tanglewood Rebel 4K 'Go To' Bass: Shuker Jazz 5 'Your' Bass: Shuker Jazz 5
