  1. I'll often wait 6 months after research too. Just in case there's something better ready to hit the market.
  2. Three but only take one to gigs. My first bass that I learnt on will never leave me but needs some tlc to be playable. My Warwick Thumb BO 4 I love to bits and made an effort to use 100% of gigs last year. My main gigging bass now is the Shuker Singlecut 6 as it can do everything.
  3. I believe everyone should be wearing ear plugs and if the relative volume is an issue then backline and band members can be moved around the stage or invest in a 'more of me' personal monitoring system or PA with Aux buses.
  4. I have no idea what Warwick are doing with their current pricing. When I bought by bass I thought their mission was to use the best manufacturing technology to give you a premium bass at a reasonable price. Now they seem to be aiming for the premium price bracket too.
  5. I got my Shuker single cut as it looks cool on a six string. I just think a massive slab of fretboard deserves a massive slab of body to keep it proportional.
  6. If it sounds good to you and the rest of the band I'd just shrug it off. Tone is such a personal preference. He was probably a guitarist where this practice is acceptable and encouraged.
  7. Sounds to me like it isn't the pickups or tone stack holding back a great sound. Try the bridge, nut or neck pocket as mentioned previously to find out why it won't sing again.
  8. Very nice. My Shuker is still keeping my gear lust at bay for the last 6 years.

  10. I've been away for a while. This is an amazing idea!
  11. This would be a great gig to get in on. Unfortunately I'm not available at present.
  12. I've got my ticket for Saturday. I'll bring my BC lanyard, but feel a bit 'official' if i'm walking around wearing a lanyard. It's currently got my work pass in there. Might have to substitute that for my library card or something (certainly not the credit card or I might be tempted to buy stuff!).
  13. Unfortunately not. Firefox for android is still stuck in desktop view instead of mobile :-(
  14. I run my Line6 POD X3 Live into a W-Audio Horizon 600 (http://www.decks.co.uk/products/amps/W_Audio/Horizon_600#.U4gzBb1wbqA). I only use the left channel, I don't like being very loud on stage, and I run it at about 4/10 at most. I think these amps are a bit difficult to track down now as my guitarist had to wait for his to come into stock and be delivered.
  15. Hi Alex, Can you respond to my PM as I'm in a position to buy, thanks. Regards, Peter
  16. Free to a good home is my old trusty bass trainer. I tend to use mp3s now rather than CDs so it's not been used in a few years. The CD tray is held on with only gaffa tape but otherwise functions perfectly. Can be powered by AA batteries or regular 9V DC adapter (not supplied). All I ask is for any postage to be reimbursed. Thank you.
  17. If my backline is just for monitoring on stage I won't use any cut or boost. If it's projecting out front I'll cut the highs and boost the lows to sit better in the mix.
  18. Get in a band early. Even if you don't feel like you're ready it'll push your playing and enjoyment of bass.
  19. Can this DI do cleaner sounds with just a hint of break up when you dig in, or is it just a face melting distortion?
  20. Ooh, this sounds possible. Will see if I can get a pass from my better half
  21. I got away just buying a d'addario clip on tuner and cup of coffee this year. Sorry I wasn't more sociable and missed visiting the bass chat stand. I was busy hoping between the shows.
  22. Tonight! Live 80's music tribute Electronic 80's at Riga Live Music club Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex. £10 on the door. Http://www.electronic80s.net
