1. Although I have hardly touched my Warwich since I got my hands on my new custom bass I'm still going to keep it and gig it regularly because I think it's another perfect bass. The build quality is rock solid and it just sounds exactly how I feel a bass should sound. I've been in email contact with Warwick a couple of times with general queries and they've been great response from the top people of Warwick UK. Only slight gripe, which should also be aimed at the shops too, is that their factory setup is terrible. I don't like my action too low but they leave the factory with such a high string height I find new Warwicks horrible to play.
2. I have a Line 6 Lowdown Studio which has both a headphone output (which mutes the speaker) and an mp3/CD/aux input which you can mix in with the bass signal to either the built-in speaker or headphones. I sometimes use it so that my bass sound comes from the Line 6 amp, the output from my Tascam bass trainer gets mixed in and then output is via the speaker in the combo.
3. That diagram at the back of the manual does seem to say that the signal break is just before the speaker output, with the DI coming out much earlier. Thanks
4. A query for any of you lucky TC Electronic Rebelhead 450 owners - I know that the headphone socket mutes the speaker output when used, but does it also mute the DI out? If I get one of these I quite fancy the idea of being able to use it as a standalone preamp with the DI going to a full range PA and take a feed into a set of headphones for my own monitoring so I can travel really light to rehearsals. Would this be possible?
5. +1 for the Hartke 3500. Mine is my first proper gigging amp and it's still going strong. The only reason I'm contemplating replacing it is for the weight. It sounds great though. I remember a friend-of-a-friend of mine who runs a studio calling it "the poor man's Ampeg" - I think that's pretty spot on
6. I use Audacity nearly every week to master my band rehearsal recordings and I can't see any way of doing what you intend to do. I think the only scale that Audacity will measure against is clock time and not beats/bars. I have done what you want to do very easily using Reaper on Windows and Ardour under Linux. Using a proper DAW you can set the BPM and time signature which will automatically let you break a song up and as stated before, setting snap-to-grid will allow you to repeat over those intervals (beats and bars). Hope that helps
7. Wow! Thanks for sharing
8. Gorgeous! That is a cracking Shuker you've got there.
9. Just gave it a quick run and it certainly seems very cool. Will try to implement it into my practice regime where possible. I also quite like the features in GNU Solfege if you've thought about studying that piece of software for your research? http://www.solfege.org/
10. That is lovely. All that light wood together looks great. Keep the pics coming

Holy Cow that's a lot of piezos!
12. Ooh, awesome-o Jon did mention that he was thinking about front-paging it when I came to pick it up, but was convinced that he says that to everyone I actually told him that I thought my bass looked a bit bland for the front page and that some of the grain-fill finishes he is doing right now would look a lot better. I'm still chuffed none-the-less!
13. I've run a Hartke HA3500 350 Watt head into a Hartke PRO 2200 2x12" 300 Watt 4 Ohm cab for many years without any issues. I don't turn the volume on the head past 4/10 and when I EQ I cut rather than boost. I'm also loathe to let anyone else use my gear in that setup as I know they would only have to crank the volume all the way up or put silly amounts of bass boost on and it could break the cab.
14.
Do people generally think this is a good idea for £300 per year take home? Seems a bit OTT to me. I already spend a fair bit on insurance, petrol etc and this all seems to be another step towards sapping the fun out of what effectively is a hobby
This is exactly what intrigues me - is it worth getting an Accountant when you're just earning a few hundred quid a year? What's the threshold?
15. Mobile has been the most successful way for me to get in direct communication. He might have taken that holiday to France which he's been putting off for the last couple of months? Edit: I didn't actually see your orange jazz there when I picked mine up and assumed that it had been finished and you've got it. Is that not the case?
16. Still playing Will take some more photos when I've had a chance to polish all my grubby finger prints off of it Sounds clips will be a little longer as I'm still getting used to the extra strings and I don't want my poor playing to reflect badly on such a quality bass.

I love my Omni 10 to bits but would be intrigued to hear your thoughts on the completed Jack 10. Great build thread!
20. Here's a quick one. The bass is awesome and I am now VERY tired. Good night all
21.
I'm tempted to order one now, at this rate I'll have the cash by the time it's built! Your bass looks very nice, I might go and see him for a quick blast on it
You'll have to be quick - I'm picking it up today
22. Just picked up my bass to check - My index finger tends to lead. I play with 3 fingers though so each finger gets to play both on and off the beat eventually.

My new baby

A lovely Warwick you've got there, and a bargain too!
24. I'm apologised to Jon this morning. He says that he is having trouble with his email at the moment but will get some new photos of the finished bass to me. As soon as I get them I'll post them here. Would rather have the thing in my hands today though
25. Balls! I'm not going to be able to go up to see Jon today as I've lost my cover for picking my son up from nursery this afternoon. To say I'm gutted is a huge understatement. I will be calling Jon later this morning to see if an overnight courier is an option.
