1. I've taken chunks of paint off my first Squire Precision back when I was a kid, and there's also a tiny hole in the headstock where the bass was placed under a dartboard in the old practice room My Warwick Thumb seems to ding if you look at it too strong, but they are only superficial. I haven't had the crippling disasters of some people here. I couldn't look at all the photos in the OP as I would have started crying. I kicked over a Crate combo, also in my youth. and sent the jack plug through the front plate. Luckily the amp had two inputs. Turned out that the socket was the PCB-mounted type and I had to solder on a new one - worked perfectly fine after that.
2. Congratulations on such a gorgeous bass. I'm glad it got to you in the end. Have a Merry Chrismas and a Warwick-fuelled New Year!
3. This thread contains far too many lovely basses. There really should be a limit, for our own sanity!
4. Surely if the power supply or on/off switch were faulty, then the front panel lights wouldn't come on? I'm interested to hear if the thing starts to heat up after a while...
5. This is from memory, which is a little hazy, but I believe the fans in the Warwick heads are variable and only come on when the head exceeds a certain temperature (is the amp getting quite hot after a short time?). I'm no electrician, but if there's absolutely no 'warming' of the output transformer after the amp has been on for a good few minutes then there's probably a control circuit which isn't switching on the output. This is usually due to the circuit sensing a faulty component somewhere. Best take the amp to a techie who can probe the thing and identify the faulty component.
6. I'm a little upset that this situation has turned sour. Can't we just be happy that he's getting his bass at last? I donated money to get the bass to it's new owner, and then found out that there was an excess. I'm happy for it to be given to Reuel in this instance and for us to learn a lesson if this happens again that we'll need some kind of 'totaliser' like they have on Blue Peter to stop over-donation. I'm impressed that so many people stumped up money in the current economic climate, as I thought it would go the other way and that some poor BCer would have to make up the deficite. Why are people sending disgruntled comments to the Mods? I didn't.
7. Feel free to leave feedback here. Thanks
8. I think that Bass Chat is sufficiently prevelant through the UK to be able to find a local buyer/seller on most occasions. There is a huge amount of trust involved in sending goods and payment. Although you all seem like great people from your posts I'm still not entertaining the risk of doing business any other way than face-to-face.
9. Cor-blimey! That's amazing detail in the woods there. I'm very jealous having made the difficult decision not to go with fancy woods on my own custom Shuker
10. Straight in-line gets my vote as it's 'Jazz-correct'. I think satin finish black metal if it's available would my favourite. I'm not too keen on plastic/rubber controls on a high-end bass.
11. A lovely bass in time for Christmas, excellent timing! I like to think that every finished bass means that mine gets one place further up the queue Remember that we expect plenty of photos!
12. Formalise my practice regime: STOP - * Noodling over scales that I already know inside out and backwards START - * Ear training using some interval learning software I've found * Transcribing the 100s of songs I've got to learn for my new band * Working through the various bass books I've bought this year to * Learn different styles of music * re-learn how to read music * learn a variety of techniques Not asking for too much am I?
13. What a terrible decision to have to make! I think you should put an agreement in the sale that you can buy it back when you're better off.

I should think that all those non-validated accounts probably came from forum 'bots which tried to register in order to spam the forum, but were foiled when they had to activate their account. Well done Admins!
15. The
[img]
tag requires that the URL posted in it ends in an image file type (e.g. .jpg .gif .png). I believe that a lot of image hosting sites try to embed HTML in their links to redirect any viewers to their sites so they can include adverts along with the image (it's how they keep the image hosting service 'free'). Personally, I've got a little bit of webspace free with my Internet Service Provider (Plus.net) and I use that to upload images and put them in
[img]
tags when I want nice big pictures (to annoy those with smaller screen resolutions or mobile devices ).
16. That was a thoroughly entertaining read. Please chalk this post up against the statistics for non-bass-related banter
17. ...and I thought Dood's .175 F# was meaty. That is clearly silly. The taper must go half way to the 24 fret, and start at the 5th fret the other end to be able to wind it round the tuning peg!
18. I haven't used them in the last year, but i've used them a few times in the past and always been happy with the service. No complaints here.
19.
You'd up the 'classy' rating by a thousand percent by covering them with a clear pickguard.
+1
20. The only way it could be gay-er would be if it were wearing a neck scarf
21. I suppose a lot of shops have seen their profit margins closing up as the Pound Sterling has had less buying power abroad (I don't think there's very much bass gear actually manufactured in the UK). They've probably used the 2.5% reduction in VAT to recoup some of those lost margins, essentially keeping their prices the same.
22. That is one of the best looking/spec jazzes I've ever seen. I'm not in the market for a new bass at the moment, but I'll forward this post to a few friends of mine as that is a great bass for a great price.
23. Initially, adjust the pickup height so that the pickup is closer to the string on the D and G strings. Only a little difference in height is needed to get a fair difference in output.
24.
I'm not sure what the woods are but it feels like the neck could be maple and wenge and the lightness of the body suggests maybe wings of swamp ash. To me it had the growl of a status series 2000 but with a less aggressive attack and a smidgin more warmth. I told Alex that if it was a 5 string, I would have bought it without hesitation.
If you're talking about the black headless 4 string Sei Original, then I completely agree. I had a play on it a couple of months ago and was seriously smitten by it. Took me over a month to stop thinking about it and what body parts I could sell off to purchase it. I think that bass should come with a health warning for the lack of sleep you'll get after playing it.
25. What a bruiser of a bass. Definitely one to play while sat down as my shoulder hurts just looking at it. I bet it will sound great though. Keep us updated.
