Also seen them at Ingleston in Edinburgh many moons ago and the sound was bloody awful, but I'm sure it was the venues fault and not the bands sound man. Both venues never stopped me having the time of my life seeing my heroes live!

We too, have the problem with, someone suggests a song , three of us agree, but if the guitarist doesn't want to do it, he conveniently forgets to learn it, hoping it will get forgotten, but if he likes a song, he learns that instead of rehearsing ones he's meant to do! It's very annoying and I find the only way around it is to keep on and on until he is embarrassed enough to have a go. I've always been better than him at choosing which songs will go down well, so I know I'm right !

Rush have always been my favourite band since my school days and I've seen them on every tour apart from one when I was working, but I went through a stage in the early 90's when I kind of lost track and stopped buying their albums. Then a few years ago, I downloaded their complete back catalogue and I was blown away by the material that I'd missed. All those years wasted, They had remained my favourite band, but I was living on their old albums and not progressing with them. I think they are just getting better and better since they left the keyboard oriented sound and came back to their rock roots. I hope they go on for another 10 years.......R50?

I don't see why you have to muck about with tunings. The bass strings are usually tuned in fourths to each other, so why change that? It makes life a lot easier when your in this standard set up. I'm no expert on tunings for metal right enough but have often wondered if I have a bass with a low B, and I want to play deep, dirty metal music, do the guitars have to be down tuned to a low B too? Or do they stay in concert pitch as if we were playing a normal tune with a five string bass?

Harke VX250, just the worst sound ever. Thin and broke up at volume. Interestingly, I had an Ashdown Mag 200 combo and I loved it, so maybe all their stuff ain't pants

[/quote] There was a band used to come up this way and play a lot. The drummer had a tiny bass drum, a snare and a high hat. That was it and boy could he play! He was amazing! Just goes to show, a really good drummer can do it with the minimum of kit!

We are doing a Hogmanay gig in our local bar which I'm looking forward to as we have a few new numbers to try out. Only trouble is there's a street party on and another big party night somewhere else. Good thing is , the street party finishes at half twelve, so even if a lot of folks go to that, we should get the aftermath coming into the pub , as its open till at least 2 . I always loved the sound off it and it's now being used as the amp for my electronic drums we use for rehearsals. Never let me down and has a great bottom end.a really warm sound. I bought a Hartke 2x10 combo after that and what a horrible sound from it. No real low end at all and tinny as hell. Sorry to go off on a tangent there

There's a site I have used called songster, that gives tab for music. You can select which instrument you want highlighted and go from there. You can also highlight little passages that you might want to repeat. It's a very handy site. There is a small subscription if you want all the functions, but it's well worth it for the help you can get in working out parts. Apart from that, just listening to tracks and picking out the root notes before trying fancy fills will help you. Tha main thing is to enjoy it and don't get frustrated if you can't pick something up because the secret is practice , practice, practice ! Good luck.

I use an MXRM80 to get distortion. It's quite simply the best distortion I've ever come across , because every one I tried before, was fuzzy and I hate that. The MXR just gives a nice overdriven sound that sits in the mix lovely, but sounds killer on its own. Why don't you give one a try?

I absolutely love my big twin 2, it's got the best sound ever and paired with an SVT 2, it's just the bollocks!

Thing is, primary ticket outlets like ticketmaster pass on a large amount of tickets to other companies like Viagogo, or getmein and they double the price before advertising tickets for pretty much anywhere in the venue. You go back to ticketmaster and they are sold out! This is just legal touting and I think it's wrong!
