1. If 32lbs is "lightweight" when you lift it onto a PA pole you must be built like a gorilla! LOL
2.
See post #6!!!!!
+1 ... or would that make it post #7?
3. Just used mine for the first time, at rehearsal. What a lovely pedal! I saw a review by a name bassist who said he just used the Shape control so I tried doing that - one of the easiest 'wins' I've ever had with any pedal or effect. At £38 this is pretty unbeatable.
4. The cost of a high-end, hand-built bass is not much affected by the cost of the raw materials. It's always the people cost that makes the difference.
5. Bwahahahahaha!!! Well try one then! They're just beautifully-made basses. The best designs made using the best components by the best craftsmen. In no way are they "better" than any other top-end boutique manufacturer ... whether or not you happen to prefer Fodera or Sadowsky or whatever doesn't mean that one is better than another, it just means that you like it more. The two Allevas that I've owned are two of the nicest basses I've ever had. The one I still have (a KBP5) would still be my go-to bass were it not for Mike Lull coming up with a bass that actually ticked two boxes for me with an even bigger tick. I like them a lot. Not everybody does of course.
6.
If the output of the phone isn't loud enough, plug it into some channels instead, where you can add extra gain
See post #6.
7. The level issue is a real one depending on the device you're using, and beyond that you often encounter mp3 players which have sufficient level but the bass output is utter crap when fed through a band PA. If you need to go that route, a more flexible option is to have a cable that takes a microjack/headphone output from an mp3 player and splits that into a pair of 1/4" jacks. You can then plug those 1/4" jacks into the L/R channels of a stereo strip on the PA, giving you access to far more control of level PLUS access to the EQ section. These cables are cheap - there's no real excuse for not having a set of red/white phonos and a set of 1/4" jack types with you.
8. The old line is "You're only as good as your drummer". That's pretty close to being true IMHO, so a crap drummer automatically means that you're a crap bass player. Would I tolerate being turned into a crap bass player by someone else? Nope - I can do a pretty good job of that without needing external help, thank you very much.
9. Hmmmm ... that was a surprise, I thought they were much heavier than that. Ahem withdrawn.
10.

I love the idea of a "Blues Foundation" video that starts with advanced chordal work and double-stopping at the 15th fret. If that's a "Foundation", God help anyone who wants to get all advanced on his ass.
11.
The stuff Freddie King did with (i think) his brother on bass had a slightly funkier feel to the blues bass line 'big leg woman' etc.
All my favourite Freddie King tracks have Duck Dunn on bass. Top of the list is Key To The Highway.
12.
Chevin A500 or A700 on Ebay. Usually less than £240. Proper power amp.
Lightweight? Ahem!
13. Anyone else wince at 55 seconds?
14. I use my Gramma Pad as an automatic default at every gig I play unless there's a really solid reason not to. It almost invariably allows a great sound - note "allows", not "creates". Exceptions? By far the worst sound I've had in the last few years was at a very small pub where my Barefaced Compact had to be placed on a padded bench which stood on flagstones. No Gramma. On the other hand, the second worst was on a largish wooden stage in a fairly large room, where nothing I could do would make the boom go away. If that had been the first time I'd used a Gramma then I'd have (wrongly) sold it the next morning. Some rooms just don't do EQ.
15. The clue is Post #8. Cloudburst spotted something that no one else had spotted, at which point the vendor suddenly dropped off the radar. Might just be a coincidence, of course.
16. Of all the blues purchases I've made (which is a very silly number, BTW), the best value I ever got was from the 3-volume "Coming Home To The Blues" set - here's Vol.1: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Coming-Home-Blues-Vol-1-Various/dp/B0000242VQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1417435528&sr=8-3&keywords=coming+home+to+the+blues If you can't find at least a dozen change-of-musical-direction tracks across those three CDs, you're just not trying.
17.
I've got a Crown xls drivecore - 'floats like a feather...stings like bee' as Mr Clay once said - think you'd be hard pushed to find anything better..........
Can't help but feel that there was a butterfly in there somewhere ...
18. I always believed it to be an original 1969 USA Fender [s]Precision [/s]neckplate
19.
I asked to try an Orange Head and 2 410 cabs that were on display. Reply "we don't allow the big kit to be played because it upsets other customers"
Well technically that probably qualifies as Health & Safety ...
20. But then the handles fall off.
21. Hmmmm ... don't think so. You can see the 'built down to a price' thing colliding with the 'now we can add loads of switches and functions' thing to create an over-spec'd mess that doesn't really work.
22. Has anyone actually read what the OP wrote? He's not asking you to answer here, but to PM or email him ...
23. Despite owning ... ahem ... a number of basses that are considerably more valuable, I still routinely pick up my SB320 when I fancy a bit of bass noodling at home. That means that it's pushing out of the way several vintage Fenders, Mike Lull, Alleva Coppolo, Wal and Status. It cost me well under £300, and that's including the new flatwounds I installed. I've been searching for a long time, but I've never even got close to finding another bass that offers so much for so little.
24. Nah - he's one of them.
25.
It is a cracking piece of wood.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/66246690@N07/6230760440/
