1. I am 9 miles from MK with an MK postcode so think that counts! Welcome neighbour.
2. Spectracomp or alternatively an M87 depending on my mood
3. Shure SRH1540 / Sennheisser HD600 or PJB 850 H, The last pair only through my PJB Bighead with the Shure getting most of the use via my Scarlett 2i4
4. Does not the 2i2 also have a pad button as well as the gain knob? I now have the 2i4 2nd gen and that certainly does. I had a first gen 2i4 and that did too, I think.
5. I can and do quite happily play right handed guitar although I am a leftie. I also play(ed) golf and cricket right handed. I can shoot a rifle of both shoulders (never tried at the same time) and catch a ball with either hand. For the life of me, however, I can only play double bass left handed and can only throw with my left arm.
6.
Gator ProGo here....
Same here and very happy with it.
7. Fender P bass but had to be MIA. It was also the second bass I ever bought.
8. My father was a drummer with his own reasonably successful pro am band. Some well known pro musicians would sit in on many gigs and come to rehearsals at home for the bigger gigs. I grew up with both live and recorded music always playing in the house. My mother whilst no musician was heavily into music and for a brief while was an agent / manager to a short term famous singer. I was given drumsets, violins and trumpets along with lessons for the latter two. In reality I was too young for the first two but stuck with trumpet for a while. There was a long break of about 30 years with me not playing anything and my love of music died when my father died. Two years ago I discovered bass and love it, although I have no natural ability with it.
9. My Roscoe Century Signature V from BD. It is an ex NAMM 2014 exhibition model and is now my daily player. Great everything about it.
10. I have no guitars. For me that is the right number.
11.
I think it's fine to record gigs with a Zoom, but important to remember they don't function well in low light at all, so make sure you get something bright out front if you're in a dingy bar. You'll get a lot less grainy picture. I think it's worth seeing if any of your mates have a DSLR camera as you'll get a better picture, and loads of people seem to have them nowadays. Also see if you can get a feed off the sound desk as it makes the sound a lot easier to control. Here's what I'm up to with two DSLRs and the output from my Behringer XR18 https://youtu.be/dN2JFWjn5FU
Great stuff. Just watching / listening to their version of Little Wing.
12. Wow! Great choon and a band who have a real image (okay so its a cover, but I still like it!): https://youtu.be/5AVH663V2ag
13. PJB Bighead, PJB headphones and my iPad for me. Alternatively I use my Boss DR-3 as drum backing for aimless noodling; a other times Scarlett 2i4 into my Mac and Shure HD1540 headphones and other times my Tascam DP-008EX and the Shures. Alternatively I just sit and play unplugged! I think I have it covered, and perhaps given you a few more ideas.
14. Our very own Rico Rodriguez! https://youtu.be/_YTMZ_O1-gU
15. Reggae. Not a genre I have really explored before, other than a listener. Wow! What fun to play. Some bass lines may be simple (or at least appear so) but getting the note length, tone and sometime off beat timing right gives me a real buzz. I wonder what opps there are for a 54 year old white 19st male bass player.
16. I sold a TCE RS212 to a guy who came to collect it in his Audi TT. I was not only suprised it fitted in the boot, but that it fitted with his other RS212 cab, amp and bass! A front seat passenger could still fit in as well
17. My wife has no interest in my gear, but then it is kept in my study / music room and has no impact on the rest of the house. She appears to tolerate the noise I make so I do temper the volume at times.
18.
How did it go? Have you managed to solve the issue?
I have, although I am not sure how and thank you for asking. I suspect it is down to finger strength as my volume has increased for no discernible reason other than practicing harder until it became the norm. I still have tone control within my fingers, but I seem to be playing naturally harder. The change to a 4ohm Barefaced Big Twin 2 may also have helped. At 09:00 hrs on the volume dial my neighbors some 60 yards away can apparently hear me at night. My gain is now dialled down to 01:00hrs.
19. It runs through usb, however, I have had absolutely no issues using this on my Mac so do not understand the issues raised in your thread. They may exist, but certainly not in my case; with either of my Scarlets. My Mac is running with all usb and other ports connected to various kit at the same time.
20. This one: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/289887-focusrite-scarlett-2i4-1st-gen/page__fromsearch__1 I used this with my Mac with no issues, just happen to have bought the update.
