Actually, on second thoughts, the second pic' is fine - no need to shrink the body!
-
I like it! especially with the higher fret access. I know it wouldn't be part of your current idea, but I think i'd probably everso slightly downsize the body just to make it look a lil more even to my eye - but that aside, the outline reminds me of some sort of military equipment. Brilliant! Go for it, I'll be watching to see how this one takes shape!
Gotta be worth £400 of anyone's money, I reckon - be interesting to see how it goes. There's a red one on the bay somewhere too, but I think the white ones are better. Not just because I've got one, either....
I have a red one hanging on my wall - I own the active version of the Jazz Bass Special and I adore it! - As I have posted on here before - it was the first Bass I ever 'GAS'd over when I was a mere 13 years old - took me over 17 years to get one and boy are they worth it!
-
Not that I've been able to try them, but on paper at least it sounds like the 'digital' units that are coming on to the market appear to be promising a wider frequency and dynamic range than the analogue (VHF UHF) counterparts. Anyone care to comment?
-
Blimey! I'd be lucky if mine stayed on for a whole month! I could kill a set of strings in a single gig when it was a particularly sweaty show!
-
I'm happy to help too!

Okie dokie, as suggested -The discussion can carry on in the 'other' thread here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=120281&hl=
Anastacia Great bass tone, what effects are being used, anyone got the tab to make it quicker to sort out? Nice glasses and vocal range from the singer. I want to get my singer up to this
The bass on the video is a synth for sure - but I'd say to emulate it - an octaver on a fretless bass with lots of the sexy slides. Only the 'guitar' has a 'wah' type effect on it.

I'll be there - Ummm.. I guess I'll wear a BassChat top or something!
not sure why I haven't put my custom up:
Love this Bass! One of these days I gotta see it in the flesh mate!
If you want something that matches the HA3500, try a 4.5XL (4x10). It's the expensive one, rather than the transporter series. As they're old school heavy and have been superceded by the Hydrive models, you might score a good second-hand one for sensible money....
plus the one!

Unfortunately I'll be unable to come down to the gig, but I will most definitely be having a moment of reflection with a glass of something strong on the 19th. Here's to you Si! x
Shame on you sir. I would have thought you would have considered the Hartke cabs!? Not that I've tried it at all but the HX112 has that switchable horn for super high frequency response. It don't weigh much and looks very nice. Also has Speakon connectors if you want secure hook up to the PA/mixer/amp thingy. But I see you have turned your back on "uncle Larry".
Not at all sir! - As per my opening post, I was looking for a cabinet that I could mainly for PA and HiFi. Hartke is still very much my choice for everything else, but they aren't designed to be flat response for CD's, backing tracks and the like (PA). I am a stickler for how things sound and I'd rather run my bass through bass gear and my PA through PA gear not confuse the two, if you see what I mean
-
For anyone wondering (yeah right) how I got on with a search for a PA cab that could handle bass duties, I've taken delivery of an as new ACME B2 from another BCer. I've been playing CDs and bass in to it for the last few days and it's really good! I was definitely after a cab that had less of it's own 'signature' so that CD's and MP3's sounded as good as possible. I think a second cab would make an excellent little PA system for workshops and clinics too!

Enjoyed that, yeah nice!

Interesting reading guys! - It looks like I own a MIJ and a CIJ then! Nice
the tone mixer thing takes practice getting right though, LOTS, especialy mixing distorted tones with cleaner tones. but yeah the other extras are cool. can you not record vocals on the xt then? im certan ive done that before. or maybe it depends on the model. awesome gear, so easy to get started. the tuner isnt great on it though ^^
Ahh, sorry I missed this post - yep you *can* use the XT to record vocals with, though it's not specifically designed to do it - but the X3 has a dedicated XLR input and a whole set of studio preamps and effects for vocals/acoustic instruments.
-
Quick question - have you tried altering the levels in the loop block to boost the output a bit? I agree that using models that are bass heavy will mean that any effect with 'top' on it can get lost because you are effectively attenuating the high end. Also try moving the effects loop block 'post' amp simulation verses 'pre' to see if that helps. Your other option is to run the X3 with both signal paths active. Set signal path one as your deep tone described, then set up a more full range patch on signal path two - then assign the effects loop to signal path two, not the bassy signal path one. Use the X3 configuration to mix the two path together and send to your power amp. This is kinda how Billy Sheehan sets up his seperate amps. One for 'super deep low' the other for the top end, effects and distortion. You'll have control over switching the loop in and out via patches and not have to buy additional outboard. I personally wouldn't recommend running other pedals in parallel with the X3 - it's processing delay mixed with an external dry path will result in phasing of the two signal that *can* sound odd. Just a very quick post - if it doesn't make sense I'll expand on it more later!

Imaginary Jam Session: Which Drummers Would You Like To Play With?
Dood replied to funkypenguin's topic in General Discussion
Well, I was thinking about this one and all the big names I could put down, but the first person I thought of that I'd like to work with is Craig Blundell. An awesome UK session drummer / Roland endorsee who plays with the awesome band Frost*! I met him via a Roland clinic as ma friend & fellow band mate Thomas is also a Roland endorser. Anyway, whilst I'm at it - This is the kinda drummer I like to work with - This is a good mate of mine Carl Cole that I've been working with. I got much to thank him for, so here's a plug of a band he is in, FRAMES:FIRE The point of the post isn't cheap advertsing though - just to add insult to injury as an awesome player - he plays keyboards and drums at the same time! This is completely live an no overdubs! -
There's a good description of JC's pedal board here: The Youtube channel user goes on to demo some sounds http://www.youtube.com/user/smninerniner For a general place to start for JC stuff I think is a Sansamp GT2 and a Chorus/Flange pedal and a delay pedal for some parts. There's a GT2 for sale in the effects forum - I almost grabbed it maself!
-
Sorry, I misread your opening post - you asked for a pedal.. but hey, this is small

If you can find or happen to see an Alesis DEQ 224, two channel 30 band EQ in a half rack size. http://www.alesis.com/deq224 They'll probably be cheap as chips as they have been discontinued. I had one, sold it then after posting a 'wanted' message here on BC ended up buying mine back from the guy I sold it to. It's brilliant - it's also programmable, which means that no one ever knocks your settings or fiddles with the sliders. ( You don't need to be a physicist to operate it either, dead easy!)
I don't understand. Have I done something to offend in my original post?
Nawww, bless ya - not at all - it's probably more that most of the bcers that have looked at the post didn't know and thus came and left the thread. I'm a gear geek and even I can't give you a decisive price off the top of my head. I'd go search ebay for finished auctions to see what each item went for - but my gut feeling would be that a generic rack EQ such as an Alesis or Roland would probably go for 30-50 - the DOD I assume is in the same ball park. The LA compressor I'd expect to have been around 150 new? maybe more - so 75-100 depending on condition. I'm not too hot on Space Echo units, but there's a few coming up on eBay via google - having just typed it in. Sorry I can't be more help! Dooooood

Some lil Shuker vids . I've posted them elsewhere - but thought I'd plonk them on the Shuker thread too! My Shuker 7 string tuned to F#. I really like the two hand tapped bass line in this - it just rolls! My band 'Real' released an album and this was a track off it. LickLibrary.com intro video... This track, again from the album... bit of sweep tapping and other 'tasteful nonsense'!! Finally, this was recorded in 2007 and I never got round to rerecording it! It's my own mashup of Steve Vai's 'Bullwhip' and Dream Theater's 'Metropolis'
