Total Watts

  1. precision bass but with a jazz bass neck basically. i completely new to this so i havent really got much idea yet! i'd probably want to use relatively decent pickups etc to make a good giggable bass rather than take it on as a project and end up with something crap that i could've bought the equivalent of in a shop for £200! cheers
  2. say i wanted to build a bass (not as in from scratch, but to but a body, neck, strings, electronics and stick it all together) what would be good websites for parts i need? thanks very much lloyd
  3. In the unlikely event that everybody who got here before me changes their mind, i'd also be interested! Cheers, Lloyd
  4. Hi i blew the speaker in my eden nsp115 cab, and was considering one of these as a replacement... Eminence GAMMA 15 2 8ohm 15" 300watt Speaker anybody used these before? are they a decent replacement? cheers
  5. it had something very small moving about under the dust cover, which only moved at certain frequencies and was inaudable with a drummer so didnt bother me. this is different however as is at any volume and any frequency. just seems odd to me that such a small combo could make any differnece at all. thanks for your input.
  6. hi, i plugged a 15w combo thorugh an 8 ohm 250 watt 115 cab. the speaker socket on the combo said 8 ohms. for some reason now the cab buzzes loudly whenever i play notes, but not when im not playing.. this may have been covered elsewhere but i couldnt find anything. any help would be much appreciated. im not sure of the combo wrecked it or its just a coincidence, but either way, im stuck. thanks a lot, lloyd
  7. Are these earplugs decent? I play bass in a band who gig roughly twice a month, and i'm fed up of ringing ears. I have also been scared into decioding i need some as my cousin is in a big band (reading and leeds gigs etc. so pretty big and loud) and has always wore earplugs and is still suffering hearing damage. Don't have too much cash but these seem cheap and good. Anyone experienced otherwise? Cheers, Lloyd
  8. I play in a band who gig often. we mainly play originals but the covers we do are frequently by the bands you mentioned, and they are also, in the most part, the bassists who inspired me also. All is use is a Fender Jazz Bass plugged straight into a Hartke HA3500, which can both be got for fairly decent pirces second hand. I use the head through a 2x10 and 1x15 cabs together. It sounds good for me. However punk bassists normally use Precision basses.
  9. I have a buzz at certain frequencies. Worked out that it is something loose rattling behind the dustcover on the 115 cab. any ideas what to do with this, as i don't want to take of the dustcover for fear of ripping the cone. Any ideas? Cheers, Lloyd

  11. Hi, I have a hartke ha3500 running through en eden nemesis 115 and a gallien kreugar 210. It works fine volume wise but for some reason, the eden makes a strange buzzing sound. It happens chiefly when i play the A string and also the louder it goes, the more prominant the buzzing. Any help would be appreciated. I know nothing except the basics about amps so it may be a really obvious problem. So far i have checked to see if the speaker cone is split. It is not. I have also tightened all the screws on the cab. Still buzzes. Thta is as far as my feeble amp knowledge can take me. Thanks alot, Lloyd
  12. I have 2 cabinets, a 250w 8 ohm and a 200w 8 ohm. I stack them on top of eachother, and will use a hartke ha3500 head, which is rathed at 350w at 4 ohm. Am i right in thiking that would, in effect, run as a 350w head into a 450w (watts of both cabs added together) cab at 4 ohms (2 8ohm cabs in parallel = 4ohm impedance) Is that all correct? Cheers
