1.
yes that did strike me as a little strange, Maybe someone 'in the know' can give us the insider gen ? Someone like Dood might well know (hint?)
Hey Daz! Well - unbelievable as it might be - no, I actually have no leads on this year's show! - That said, I've been pretty damn busy these last few months and hadn't gotten as far as planning my BassDay. I've got some amazing news to spill soon which will hopefully be great for us Bass Players - sorry I can't say anything yet! If I remember to, I'll see if I can find out what's happening this year! 2.
Sound qual is great, isn't it. At 1080 it's not looking stellar to be honest. Needs substantially more stage light, imo. On the other hand, with all these clips the easiest method to look pro by far is to get the bleedin thing on a tripod. Do that & you're halfway there, whatever the visuals
The Q3HD (and lesser Q3 model) both have tripod mounts on the bottom too!
 3.
Took a look at the zoom on you tube..the audio quality is really good.. It reminds me of the quality you get with the little stereo mic that Sony used to make...perhaps still do. There is a fantastic side by side comparison with a couple of other HD cameras of a guy playing an acoustic guitar but I noticed quite a lot of blocking going on..especially on the backdrop where there was just a large section of solid colour..is this the quality of the vid or something that happens when you upload to youtube? There is some great footage of Rammstein that a bloke had taken live that was so much more impressive than other fan shot footage...looks like a good bit of kit. Will definitely take a look.
I would say that's more of a problem with the amount of compression that Youtube forces upon your work you have painstakingly and lovingly poured in to your HD quality video!!!
 4. I've also notice KRK monitors popping up here and there, http://www.krksys.com/index.html - I've heard and used the RP6 and VXT 8's and thought they were very faithful in reproduction but the Rokit range are regarded well too. I can't say what is best though as I've heard too many in different settings to give a reasonable comparison. I liked the little Mackie monitors! Interestingly, I don't have a set of reference monitors but I do have a set of proper old school audiophile HiFi speakers that I have owned for years. I know what they sound like and am so used to them, so I actually mix on those instead!
 5.
Just for the record, I disagree with this. Two preamps running two power amps (your power amp is stereo iirc, essentially two power amps in one module) into two cabs, sounds properly bi-amped to me. Gk and ampeg do some preamps that I've heard good things about.
I can see where you are coming from if the name were taken literally 'two-amping' but it's a little more specific, meaning separate amplifiers power separate speakers to drive the high. low and mid frequencies respectively. 7.
Hi, Would your LH1000 fit in this? Joe
My LH1000 currently lives in the case with plenty of room.
 8.
But doesn't the 'duty of care' extend both ways? Someone would have to be pretty careless to trip over our gear, unless they were drunk, in which case they have rendered themselves incapable of acting safely - which is hardly our problem is it? Isn;t there a test of 'reasonableness' in such matters?
In this day and age, you practically need insurance for your insurance policy right? We've enough adverts on daytime TV these days to convince anyone to 'claim for a fall' if they see the pound signs go cha-ching. In that case, sadly we need to be ready for that when playing in public.
 9. Ey Josh! Good to see ya round these 'ere parts!
 10. Hi all! Well, I've just managed to grab myself Johngh's shallow Gator case as I was after something a little lighter - and it will sit nicely on top of my Gator shallow 3u rack (should I keep that too) So up for sale is my 4u shallow flightcase that I bought recently from a fine chap on BassChat. It can be described as 'used' and there's a few bits that are missing - however in it's job as a flightcase it is perfectly serviceable and will protect your gear safely. I'll post pictures tomorrow but for now, I'm going to say that I will ship it within the UK for free - rack case will be £30 - which is definitely a bargain! 11.
Oh yes! The best £25 I've spent in years.... it just works - no dongle or copy protection, starts in seconds, unlimited tracks and routing, extremely customizable etc,etc - all this in a 6mb download! Gotta be worth a try...
Took the words right out of my mouth! I am a big fan of Reaper - I even use the USB install version too, so I can take it to any machine and run it straight away without having to install it!
 12. Not necessarily for the pro market, but check out the YouTube videos for the handheld Zoom Q3HD. I bought one secondhand from a fine fellow here on BC and it is brilliant. It records in stereo and does not distort, even when right up against a drum kit - I see you'd rather take a feed from the PA instead for sound, but for a way of recording a gig quickly, it is rather good! ;o)
 13. Is three mins a new record?
 14. I reckon if it's in good nick ma man, I'll take it! I've got a flightcase and I'm after something a bit lighter!! PM'd
 15.
I still think you have to listen and immerse yourself in this style for a long period before you can master it.
Which is teaching yourself - so in that case, it can be taught! ;o)
 16. YUP! I use ER15/25's too and I have tinnitus from playing without plugs in the past. I also have a drop in hearing response in certain treble frequencies. I too find it difficult to concentrate on some conversations in noisy places such as bars and pubs because of this, especially with background music and lots of conversations going at once. Even worse when the people talking have soft voices. I also have the problem of being 6'3". I'm usually towering over people and thus I cannae hear the conversation when they are facing each other.
 17.
There's some interest in another thread about earplugs elsewhere. I didn't want to hijack that one with my question, so here's another thread about earplugs. Does anyone sing while wearing earplugs ? I have a pair of ER15's which have been a blessing to have in case the guitarist cranks the volume again However, singing with the earplugs in is a bit of a challenge, as some frequencies tend to be muffled by the earplugs. As a result, I tend to modify my singing voice, which just makes singing more difficult. I'm also not clear about the kind of sound my voice is creating, which leads into cycles of doubt, which in turn hinders performance. I've ended up removing the earplugs to get around these problems. I'm much happier with the clearer feedback I get for my voice, but it's back to square one on the earplug issue. Any thoughts BC ? Thanks
Yes! Infact I positively rely on my ER15/25's for singing! I've not used a vocal monitor for my own voice since using these 'plugs and my fellow musicians have reported that they have noticed a dramatic improvement in the tone and pitching of my voice. Ok, so I'm no Myles Kennedy, but even so - I can run my own harmonies without getting confuzzed! Here's my trick - I select the value of filter so that the music 'outside of my head' is near to the same volume or a bit quieter than my 'voice inside my head' if that makes sense. I can hear my bass clearly and I pitch my harmonies against my bass NOT the other band members. Thus I can concentrate on getting my notes right and leave the other guys to concentrate on theirs. Its particularly useful as I am 'one of those' who loves the sound of 3 and 4 part harmonies, but whilst I am busy enjoying them, I screw up - so sadly, it's best if I cant hear what the other guys are doing as much as what I am. I therefore ask for no vocals in my monitors at all! Hang in there with the plugs, I had a similar problem, but I found listening back to recordings helped me identify what I needed to adjust when I sing. Hope this helps!
 18.
Play a little flurry of notes in chromatic runs and rapidly don my beret, trusting that the audience will recognise jazz when they hear it.
Ha ha! yup - play the same mistake twice, second time with conviction - yeh, I meant to do it... it's called Jazz lol..

 20. Recommended and a bargain! 1000W RMS for 350 notes sounds pretty damn good to me!
 21. 'MU rates' gets a big plus one. Being an MU member also gives you access to downloadable contracts for the 'employer' to sign. Cover yourself every time.
 22. I've just sold my Digitech Stereo JamMan to Rob. Very pleasant to deal with, great comms too!!! Thank you Rob!
 23.
There has been a post on BC about changing the voltage on a MarkBass F1. I uploaded some pictures of the adjustment I made on my F1 one that I bought from the US - it's been working fine here in the UK ever since.
Sorry, I completely missed the bit about playing in Italy and Germany, thus ignore my bit about the US! ha ha ha!!!
