1. Lemme rephrase that.. I believe that Justin uses the GT2 with a blended signal path for that dirty sound. Correct me if i am wrong, but i feel sure i've heard him discuss it at some point.
2. I think the beast you are looking for is the Sansamp GT2! You may find that you will want to mix in a clean bass sound too by means of a loop pedal to add some bottom end back in.
3. Ok ok ok guys, the cash is in the post! ;0) No honestly, I genuinely mean this: Thank you for the kind words, it's very much appreciated and I'm happy that you've enjoyed my sessions as much as I have delivering. I love my job and can't think of anything better than playing Bass all day and sharing the low end goodness! Iconic, I've ping'd you a reply back.
4.
I'd get onto the people who run the site and complain
I know! Then when I've done that, I'll have a moderator fired! It's..... It's..... An outrage!
5. Oh wow, first time i've noticed... The head of my little predator dude is missing! <<<<<<<<<<< must edit!
6. Predator never sleeps! ;0)
7. Thank you StraightSix! Much appreciated! Iconic, I'd be happy for you to come over to my studio for a 1-2-1. Feel free to ping me a PM.
8. Hi, I have the Kilo in my rig and yes at some point I will do a bit of tube rolling with it - something i've done with most valve amps i have owned. Although I haven't looked under the hood yet, I'm expecting to find Sovteks, maybe the ElectroHarmonix/ GT choice, the 12AX7WA .. My personal taste in valve is the telefunken style valves like the JJ ECC83S (premium model) that definitely has a different character to the Sovteks. More upper mids and zingy top end.. Although in some ive found that it sounds like they have less wooly bottom end, mthus making them sound clearer vs the Sovteks. Reading reviews, valve amp purists say the first valve in guitar amps is the 'critical position' and thus i'd stick the best quality valve in there... But what 'flavour' is personal choice. Mr Foxen is quite correct, if a valve is part of a distortion circuit, then you may have to look at the right valve fornthe job, as say a Mullard sounds different to a GT sounds different to a.. Etc etc. You could buy a selection of valves and try a few out over a few gigs / rehearsals to see what you like best? Maybe let us know how you get on! Oh, caveat time, be careful when changing valves!
9. Hi Iconic, where in Norfolk are you?
10. The action on my Shuker 6 is incredibly low and set up for a light touch. The last six months or so I was playing some brutal metal material that sounded better with a bit of digging in.. the only problem is that the tuning was down to Bb (semi-tone) enough to rattle and buzz my lovely set up. I actually bought another bass just to play the material on so I didn't have to mess with my Shuker!! So for me, anything that messes with my set up is a total b@ll@ache!!
11. Cocco, I can't confirm this, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that the neck was modelled on a '62 Jazz profile. I've not ever played a '62 Jazz so I can't add anything to that - but it's slim, fast and feels great! The ATE control is brilliant and at the quick twist of the control near the bridge you can go from scoopy slap to parpy Jaco mids. These basses are fantastic and even mine, which I think is an '89 with it's worn finish still plays like a dream.
12. I have one in red... wonderful bass - if I wasn't looking for other gear right now, I'd be all over this one! Free bump on me!
13. I'll be there with my buddies from Hartke! Last year it was fits n' giggles, so no doubt mre of the same this year! I'll be wearing a suit and a red rose on my lapel..... Oh wait, that's a different sort of meet up isn't it? The code phrase is 'rats fly at dawn, the pig is down'.. You haven't seen me right? Tally ho!
14. Ahhh yes! We played that track live in London amongst others and it sounded sooooooo good!
15. Hi all, Please include an area / region in your advert title so that potential responders can search through the adverts more easily. We are looking to implement a way of filtering posts - this would certainly help but is most beneficial for you, bands. Please also include area / region information in the 'topic tags' box too to aid forum searching. We may look at imposing rules later to ensure that the forum can be kept as tidy as possible, but for now, please help us - and well, in the long run, help yourselves get the musicians you want! Thank Doooooooooooood
16. Thank you Rik! I appreciate feedback so that I can improve my lessons - this is great to read I have a brand new studio now, so the teaching environment is even more comfortable and tailored for playing music!
17. Please could you all edit your posts to include the area you teach in the body text as well as the title to make it easier for potential students to find you. Please also include it in the tags, as well as 'Skype', 'FaceTime', 'MSN' if you teach remotely as well. It's gotta help, so it's up to you to do so! Dooooooood.
18. Hi NIM, I spotted you have three adverts in this month posted, so I've taken your best one of the three and cleared the other two for you. Feel free to update just the one advert instead. Just makes it a bit easier to find a tutor without trawling through duplicate pages. Cheers.
19. Ok folks, take your personal disagreements elsewhere. This thread is no longer about ERBs.. disappointed I am.
20.
My point was that several people on here chose to be deliberately offensive and provocative knowing full well that the player in question would probably read their comments. That's just spiteful. We don't have to like everyone's music or playing, but we have a choice about how we express that distaste.
agreed. And I can't see any other good reason to keep this thread alive. If you haven't got anything good to say, it's usually best not to say anything. There's been some pretty sh*tty comments on this thread - amazes me how some behave.
21. Ey Jason! ;0) I've just read through the thread and would like to add my own experiences. I've been a Rotosound user for many years and certainly would press that the new strings (post machine update) have been fine. I havent had any faulty strings at all. I am a sweaty tike and i do kill strings a lot quicker than some if i am gigging alot, but they, including the massive 175 gauge F# strings sound really good.
22. P.s. bun fight over, please.
