1. Given the time that has passed and the lack of response from the seller, you are perfectly within your rights to air your grievance. I'm disappointed that the BCer in question has made no attempt at being in touch. You know who you are, please at least drop me or any of the moderating team a PM.
2. I was yes! I arrived really late due to traffic, but Craig gave me a heads up for when they were going on. John ( on the door) spotted me,and didn't even wait for a ticket; just stamped me and said 'get in there!' I had 5 mins to get a pint and the boys kicked off. Blooming brilliant!
3. It seems the low end talent runs in the family as brother Nathan is also an awesome bass player. He's playing with my buddy Craig Blundell and John Mitchell (It Bites) and song writer type Jem Godfrey in one of my face bands Frost* right now and they are awesome! Get ya prog on!
4. I was asked if I wanted to interview Chris recently, but sadly I was busy on the day he was free! Gutted!!
5. Hey chap! Yup, ping me a message / email that's cool. Yes, I'm afraid once again other music work has been keeping me busy... Damn I love my job! But I will do a kilo + hx112's review on YouTube soon! Ahhh the Doodle rocks! Infact I'm loving her lil sister! The 6er is more about speed and control which translates to a real slick paying surface and I'm looking to prototype a few ideas of my own to test a theory or two! As for digging in, I'd say I am firm with the instrument but I don't waste energy by digging in to hard. Let the pickups, electronics and amplification work for you and concentrate on honing technique. A big plus for me is using a ramp. It actually stops you from digging in anyway, acting a bit like a mechanical version of a leveller or limiter! Incidentally, I've also seen that myung's basses now have 5 string necks on them but are 6ers, thus depending on width he'll be using something like a 14-16mm spacing too. I have a feeling my Conklin 7er I had years ago was a 15mm so I can totally see where it would benefit.. Really looking forward to trying a 14mm. I reckon I'll still be able to slap it too!
6. Headless!! I adore my mine! Something worth mentioning for those who go for an ERB with 6+ strings. Your back will love you for not having all that hardware hanging off the other end of the neck! I'd have loved my single cut 7 to have been headless now that I've spent a good amount of time with the headstock-less variant.
7.
I thought you'd perhaps sold one of your kidneys there for a moment... (These go for around £5500 for those who haven't sussed it yet) (The bass that is, not Dood's kidneys)
It would be very nice, but I'm rather attached to my kidneys right now! Heh! I don't think I'd get any more than about £5.50 for each.. Slightly short of ibanez's price tag!!!
8. Sounds perfect Luke!! Heh heh!
9. Yeah, you're not wrong! I actually don't want one, but I really want to try the squat spacing to see if I like it. Then I will go for a custom build so that my more usual bass preferences get included! And sadly for Ibanez my custom will be cheaper
10. If there's ever going to be a thread that will gather dust quickly it'll be this one! Does anyone own one of these basses or have seen one in stock anywhere in the Uk? I'd love to try one out to test a theory. I've been a big fan of close string spacings for years now and these have a 14mm spacing that will probably suit my playing style very well. I'm already using 16mm on my Shukers... Could I go even closer? http://www.dv247.com/assets/products/71962_l.jpg
11. I'm interested in this thread as you have chosen Celestions speakers - There doesn't seem to be many DIY builds favouring these. The Eminence speakers you mention are getting lots of love - I feel sure Celestion must be doing something equal in spec? - I'm also interested as Celestion the company aren't a million miles from where I live. I look forward to seeing how things turn out!
12. I have to say that the one thing that lets down all the other currently available tablets is the serious lack of kit available for us musicians. If you want to use a tablet for just reading PDFs of notation and maybe use some of the android apps then cool, but Apple have the market for musicians totally stitched up. There are so many peripherals, such as the Apogee Jam, the Digitech effects unit board thingy, and Alesis IO dock that make the iPad way more than just a tablet. I've never been an 'Apple man', but I'm so pleased with the iPad. I teach with it, run my business with it and as you have said, I can even use it for music sheets. IRealB app looks cool, though I haven't got it yet! I've been using GuitarPro for now along with another app I've forgotten the name of! Ha!
13. Oh and I am well n truly looked after by a few other companies too!
14. And......
15. And On......
16. I go On and On and On and On about SHUKER basses...
17. I've been offered a refinish on the body of my red PJBS.. I'm tempted but then there's the problem of choosing black or that pearly white!
18.
But where would people go to complain about off topic being locked?
Hmmmmm... TIMbuktu ;0)
19. Cool, can we lock off topic now? He he he!!!
20. Shhh!!! It wasn't delivered in time Adam! Don't wurry I know where it is!
21. Thank you for the feedback MM20! Yep, it's a great team to work with and the format is cool too because it includes HD video as well as the written material too. Warts n all! ha ha Well yes - however the UK distributor pressed to say that this model was to enable those with a smaller budget to get hold of a premium MM bass. They went on to say that It's not a budget model either, but as you say, some of the options have been skimmed back a bit to make them a bit cheaper. That's the information I used for the review. I also agree that ANY bass should be set up properly and SHOULD play as well as they can, *especially* when being sent for review by a magazine that gets well over 100,000 subscribers! - but as we all know, even some premium basses hanging in shops around the country play like dogs! It was this experience of (some not all) MM basses in the past that made me chirp up how happy I was that this example was so comfy.
22. Al, that's really cool!
23. Hey no wurries!
24. Gesundheit!
