1. I used to own a V-Amp Pro many moons ago. Set up well, it will reward you with a great tone direct to PA. I used to get lots of compliments about my 'tone' with it. I tended to use it as a 'set and leave' with regards to the amp model, but only changed patches for effects etc. (So basically every patch has the same 'amp sounds' but just a variant of EQ or effects). Good for the money!

Guitar Porn

I've closed the 'old' Guitar Porn thread, but for reference here's the link to it: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/67635-dare-i-say-itguitar-related-porn/page__st__140__p__1619184#entry1619184
3. Good Idea! Lets keep all in one thread.
4. This is very interesting! A good friend of mine has a 5 string Parker Fly bass he would like to sell. I'm going to need a bit more information as i will be advertising it for him. Looks like send Parker a message is a good idea! Have a free bump on me for a great bass. The 5 string plays like butter!!
5. Having said that though, the LH heads are so simple it's genius. They have masses and masses of clean headroom and go loud loud loud! - The LH is brilliant and I can't see it not be good paired with any cabinet. 6x10? Yeah! Awesome! I have the Kilo, which features the same pair of 500W bridgeable modules to 1000W and run it in to Hartke 4.5XL cabinets. They are just incredible and leave no doubt as to what the rig is capable of!
6. I've edited the title of your thread for you to make it easier to search & spelling etc
7. Standard carpet fitting spray glue is fine. You can pick it up from B&Q. Follow the instructions, couldn't be easier - I have a tin for such jobs, including coming back from holiday and finding that moggy had used my cabs as a scratching post! Grr! - Glued and looks as good as new (though the carpet could do with a bit of a 'going over' with a fuzz buster!!)
8. I did a full video review of the TTE500 in iGuitar magazine. Off the top of my head I can't remember what issue, but they are all free to read over at www.iGuitarMag.com Dooooood.
9.
has anyone got a really traditional fendery looking Shuker?
I guess the JJB basses fit in to that category - but there's loads on the shukerguitars.co.uk galleries.
10. Looks like a really old Futurama bass.
11. Thank you everyone who has sent messages already! Keep 'em coming!
12. Happy to help!
13. Thanks guys! That's excellent! Yup OG isn't it! Heh heh!
14. Hey Basschat! A friend of a friend of mine is looking for old guitar and bass strings to recycle for a project and has put a shout out to ask to drop her a line if you have any you'd like to donate. I've offered to post here as I know you guys are awesome and would be willing to help. In the first instance, could you drop Kirsty a mail at [email protected]. I'm sure Kirsty would be willing to post pics when she has worked her magic on the strings later!
15. P.s., no the signal doesn't go through the switch iirc. You can find the schem online :0)
16. I've done this! I left the M80 in my rack system and had my effects unit switch it in and out as part of an effects patch change. I need to have a look to remind myself which switch I 'paralleled' with. I think it was the 'effect on/off' switch. I didn't need to rewire the pedal at all. You simple wire whatever the external control will be in parallel with the footswitch. The button will still be operational but will need to be left in the 'off' setting for the remote action to work. Glad someone else has the same idea as me!
17. For info, i used to plug my Tobias 6er directly in to an Alesis 3630 then directly in to a 450w power amp and then out to a Hartke 4.5xl many years ago. I used the gain control on the Alesis to boost the bass signal up to line level so the power amp received a strong enough signal. Bass and Treble control came from the bass alone. Worked a treat for me.
18. Hi, I've certainly found that it pays to spend time chatting and finding out what the student likes. One of my younger ones likes Pokemon, so using a number of Pokemon style games tied together as 'building blocks' i've been able to teach some fairly complex theories for a younger learner. Being able to drip feed theory and technique through play works well too. Lots of games, lots of fun. A dry guitar lesson would bore the pants out of me, so will definitely have the same effect on a student. Yes, i agree about lesson length. 30mins is nearing the limit for the younger ones. Keep them interested with varied lessons. Last week I did a set of lessons about rhythm with a whole selection of hand drums and things to make noise with in my studio!
19. Lets keep this thread as friendly as possible please. It's too easy to hide behind your screens and throw the toys out of the pram. I think it's a bit harsh to direct the days frustrations on to one person. How many people who are complaining about all the slap actually did something about it at the time? Or just complained about 'the other stands'. Yes, Nigel does slap and so does Doug and T.M. But they weren't beating three shades of crap out of their basses for 8 hours constantly. So mebbe directing your 'pops' solely at Nigel is actually a bit out of order. Are we going to name every bass player who slapped at the show on this thread? The slap wasn't the problem. The cummulative effect of 100's of watts of amplification was.
20. As per the market place guidelines, disagreements over price should be kept to PMs only. FloydElgar, I'm removing your posts.
21. Not yet mate! It's a job to do at some point to see how it sounds, but i've been pretty busy elsewhere! I'll start by rotating around valve one,the 'critical' position and see what difference it makes with my 'magic' valve and my rather spesh 5751.
22.
I ended up brazening mine out having had a two pronged sales attack on the Overwater stand (not an expensive one I hasten to add and tonights eBay & the last couple of nights gigs cover it - just) Chatted to a few BC'ers, missed a few more one the way (Seashell I think I may have been sat next to you at Neil Murray;'s masterclass but am a shy retiring flower) and kept almost getting a word with Dood but not quite, then Doug Wimbish rean over and it was too late. Ah well, there's always next year
Awww sorry fella! Right, next time we'll be sure to have a coffee!
23. Today's Ollie? Yeah, i did. Ha ha, it was a bit different from the run of the mill clinic, but I thought it was rather fun. Dave Marks holding down the bass line like a real trooper bless 'im!
24. So great to see so many familiar faces and to put also finally put faces to names! I had a real blast over the last three days. I love being a bass player and being part of the community. I worried less about the noise, just as long as I could hear what you were all saying.. Yup, i did waaaaaaay more talking than playing again this year!
