1. Ha ha! Yes, it could well have been me actually! It popped up and I grabbed it rather quickly. It's an absolutely 'as new' unit! Nice! I've been using TC effects for a lot of years actually. I've owned the G-Force, G Major 2, Triple-C and C300 as well as the Nova Dynamics compressor I have. The Nova System is no different in the quality of effects as I believe all the same algorithms go in to the processing as well as the choice of processor itself. The delays, choruses and other time based effects are what TC are well known for and are pristine. Pitch shifting and tuning effects are great, though the octaver isn't as far reaching in to the lower octaves as some pedals, such as the EBS Octave - or the octaver on the GT10B which is pretty good too. In use for bass, there are two inputs on the unit. The board includes a really good 'all analogue' over drive and distortion section that I think could be useful, but I have spent less time with that as I use an Ampeg Billy Sheehan preamp to provide my distortions at the moment. Thus, at the first gig I took it out to, I plugged in to the 'line input' on the back that bypasses the analogue section altogether. It was great for bass and noticed no loss in low end at all. Current signal chain is: Shuker 6 & 7 string basses > Ampeg BSP preamp > Hartke Kilo head Pre> TC Nova System in stereo loop > Hartke Kilo 2x500W > 2x Hartke 4.5XL cabs. Potentially enough noise to level a small village and gorgeous stereo effects right behind me ;o)
2. I've just invested in a TC Electronic Nova System. I am really impressed!
3. HEY BRX, Can you show me some examples of the 'online delivery medium' you'd prefer as at the moment I can't really see what the problem is. - But hey, I'm only a reader and bass player, not a web designer!- I'd certainly welcome any improvements that I can pass on to the team. At the moment though, I'd totally disagree with your comment 'Poorly thought out'. I think that is a bit harsh. As for the video interviews. Have you watched the ones in iGuitar? I think you'll be surprised. We've picked bass players who have interesting stories and experiences to share. All of the videos are edited down where necessary. Indeed I spent all morning talking to Doug Wimbish - simply not possible to include everything! ;o) edit: I realise this discussion is actually going Off-Topic thus apologies - maybe better placed in a new topic about online publications.
4. Ha ha ha! Indeed! - Though I have to say, it's so new and shiny, it looks exactly like the pics above!
5. Ok, so months later! I'm pretty pleased to say that I now own one of the first three GVB36 basses to land in the UK. I'll get some pics up soon, but it is a rather tasty bass!!
6. I sold my pair of Hartke Hydrive 112 cabinets to Craig. A flawless and friendly transaction and he was very patient whilst I went to find suitable courier proof packaging to send the cabs on their way! Great stuff! Dood.

8. It'll be in an iPad version soon too: http://www.iguitarmag.com/the-app/
9. I think what would be great is:- * A free to read magazine. * Free video reviews of gear that includes equipment that is in the reaches of the beginner as well as the pro * Video interviews as well as text ones with relevant and current bass players * The magazine isn't too long and just enough items to keep you going month to month - Pedals, amps and basses etc * Maybe a reviewer you know that you can talk directly too? That'd be cool. * Having all the back issues at your disposal (free) without having to take up room in your office / studio * UK based but open to the world market so that any adverts aren't just UK specific, thus making readers aware of a wider range of products - but still, not swathes of advertising bile. Hmmmm.. if *only* such a magazine existed ;o) Check out issue 9 of Guitar Interactive Magazine for free (and all the back issues) over at http://www.iGuitarMag.com. It has a GREAT bass section you can browse directly to and features this really nice guy you all know Dood
10.
I really want to try somethinglike this but in pedal form! I never thought about actually removing the frequencies from the clean and replacing them with the distorted sound. Would this be more beneficial than having certain frequencies overlapping?
Well, yes and no. I guess in some cases, those overlapping frequencies may accentuate the character of the instrument. Like the demo for the Lomenzo drive by James himself, he tunes the mids to sit on the 'bite' of the treble side of his tone. He doesn't push the distortion in to crazy territory either and the effect is very pleasing. I think I overlap mine similarly too, but roll the bottom off the distortion so it isn't mushy and the top off so it isn't fizzy sounding. I think one of the most important functions on such a pedal is the ability to sculpt the clean and distorted tones together. An EQ on both the distortion path and clean path is very important. I wish my M80 had that ability as I find it limiting, unless it goes in the loop of say an EBS Microbass.
11. I've justbtaken delivery of a Hyperdrive but not had a chance to play with it properly yet. My 'band pass' distortion comes in the form of an Ampeg Billy Sheehan bass preamp. It's a hard one to beat as it has a full clean valve preamp and a seperate distortion channel that can be combined. I pull the lows and the highs of the distortion out and tune the mids to slot in the scoop of my clean signal thus giving me a nice rounded fat tone that is nice and distorted too. Clean bottom and top, dirty mids. Slap sounds great through it. It's a rack unit, but i have thought about having a pedal version custom made several times. Its so good, i sold the first unit I had and then had to search to buy another!
12. Wow! Superb! One of my first 'proper' amps was this very same model. Used for years with a huge 2x15 cabinet I was always complimented on my bass tone with a big fat juicy sounding P bass! It looks like new too! Great stuff. Nice trip down memory lane for me.
13. Thank you guys! God I love.... basschat!
14. Indeed, purchase a lead that is described as connecting to the 'line outs' on the apple dock. You'll get a stronger 'direct out' signal. You could, if you wish purchase an audio interface designed to give you a stronger output signal, as well as also including other 'inpit' facilities.
15. I'm afraid I can't help, but on a similar subject (if you don't mind me piggy-backing your thread too) - I'd love to track down the broadcast quality release of Pink Floyd, Live in Venice in 1989. It was originally shown as a TV broadcast - but i'd do anything to hear a stereo version that isn't all gnarly like my old videos were! Maybe a Pink Floyd expert could help us out with both requests.
16. I've seen Lissie's bass player also taking up drum duties simoultaneously at gigs, which is very cool. I'd also like to put a shout out for my very talented friend, work mate and musician Carl Cole who recently played in a band called Frames:Fire. He played keyboards and drums at the same time. Not just holding down a chord, we're talking tapping away arpeggios whilst grooving along on the rest of the kit! I'll see if i can find a video or two on YouTube.
17. Ahhhh! Thank you! They are great cabs. Preliminary investigations suggest that insured shipping in england could be around £20 per cab. This coupled with the low price I am selling at inthe first place is still a bargain i feel. You are, obviously, most welcome to collect. I will also be travelling down south east on Friday 4th May.
18. Hi Jackers! I've only played the RH450 through the HX410, the 4x10 equivalent. It was loud and punchy! I'd actually expect the 2x12's to actually sound fatter and deeper as the 4x10 cabinet is a sealed unit. The HX112's have front facing ports. The HX112's would be amazing with the impedance switching with the RH i reckon!
19. He he he!! Thanks Jim! - I know! G.A.S calls! Ewan, the GS112 has a more scooped tone. There's definitely more mids to the HX112's making them sound warmer. The GS112 sounds deeper at lower volumes but I feel that it could get lost in the mix. A single HX112 having more mids may make it sound less bassy, but I reckon the HX despite it's lower sensitivity figure sounds louder. Not that volume is the be-all-and-end-all, that's just what I think, using the same amp as I had when I had the GS. (Not the Kilo). A pair work well together given the true impedance switching to make sure amps are loaded correctly. Always nice to know you have many possible configurations (as I mentioned above) without fear of unleashing some of that magical amp smoke!! heh!
20. Bob, check out issue 9 of Guitar Interactive Magazine when it comes out - I reviewed the cab and the PF350. www.iGuitarMag.com Sadly we haven't got any dimensions for you, but I think we have some good shots of the insides. You might be able to guess the inside front to back measurement by taking the outside measurement and subtracting the thickness off the cabinet walls. so, 2x18mm. I think the main problem would be the height of the amp. It could get in the way of either the tweeter or back of the woofer when you try to lower the lid. I loved the idea though, as you will see in my review!! - Current issue is 8, so 9 isn't out yet. (it's free to read, by the way)
21. Nice one lobematt! Went to see 'shuggah last week. They were immense! - Nice playing and good work with reaper. I love how easy it is to do YT vids with it and have a great sound / mix! Dooooood
