1.
Looked at your MS-60 review too Dood. Waiting for one to arive. Damn you for inflating my GAS...
Sawwwrryy
2.
Hi Dood, loved the ms60 review on YouTube. Do you use both in conjunction with each other? I kinda like the idea of having the effects always available on the b3 as to go stomp box set and perhaps buying the ms60b for the amp sims and comp. Can you assign the patch switching order on the b3 like you can on the ms60b so it cycles through assigned patches? Thanks in advance :-)
I do use the two in conjunction yes! How depends on the gig, but sometimes I'll set the MS up with my 'channel switching options' - which as I say I use a bit like a guitarist with a two or three channel amplifier. Then I'll use the B3 for all the other extras I might need. Pete has answered the next question already.
3. Thank you for the replies everyone.
4. The bank manager is probably gonna lynch me for this, but I've caved. I can't sell and would like to apologise to those who have messaged me already. I had a brief play with the cabinet earlier to seal my decision but realised that it's a great cabinet and worth hanging on to rather than trying to find another one in the future. Something else will probably have to go in the meantime. The good news is that my motor passed MOT and therefore I'm not going to be bent over the table with repair costs.. just yet!
5. It pains me greatly. I am being forced in to a position of having to sell a chunk of my bass gear. This particular cabinet I bought from new and lovingly looked after it before selling it stupidly. (Isn't that always the case??) I then bought it back vowing to hang on to it from then on, but due to a bit of a financial squeeze I have to look at the very sobering reality of having to make funds up from my gear. The cabinet is absolutely superb, with a pristine sound that cuts through whilst delivering punch well above it's physical size would suggest. Here's the spec and what it looks like: This is a 4 Ohm version that will take 1200W RMS. The cabinet as you can see in the picture is taller and slimmer, so no rucked knuckles as you go through doorways and it's closer to your ears, which is an added bonus. I have bought a fitted cover from the absolutely superb Roqsolid who make the best covers I think! I have also taken off all the old silver stripping and replaced it with lovely new shiny detailing instead (looks the same) - However, the name badge had to come off when I did this - it is now a single silver strip line through the middle. Finally, this will be a pickup only currently and - I really do not want to sell this. Given the option, the minute I can find a way of selling something else, this will be withdrawn! Have pictures, will post soon.
6. Actually, that is a sexy guitar. The original JP 6 and 7 are both wonderful guitars and have enjoyed much time fiddling with them. Funnily though, I am adoring an Ibanez right now, an RG model which is a nod to John's Ibanez guitars he used before Ernie Ball.
7. Wow, those curves are.. they are... hand on, they're as sleek as my Shuker
8. It's True Bypass.
9. The B3 sounds great with guitar! - I've been using mine in the effects loop of a valve amp live in conjunction with the amp's distortion and clean channels. Very nice indeed. Recoding-wise for acoustic, there's a really nice patch that is superb for bringing out the fullness of a mic'd up instrument. The unit is just a brilliant swiss army knife for musicians.
10. One of the very best audio interfaces for the price in my opinion (well, not just my opinion!) 11. Anyone tried DPD? Their website even has instrument packing guidelines, so a good start?
12.
Thanks Dood. It's not an unbearable amount of hiss and to be fair my old ampeg head (also with valve preamp) was louder. I have input gain set to just below the level where the red light occasionally comes on so now it never comes on. Is that too low? I've seen a post from you elsewhere where you mention you set yours so it comes on frequently. I always thought that was,a bad thing? The master is set to between 12 o'clock and one o'clock with eq pretty much flat and only a small amount of compressor and overdrive. The hiss is always there regardless of compressor and overdrive setting so may well be a preamp valve. At the end of the day it doesn't worry me as long as it's healthy and I love the way the amp sounds plus it looks awesome :-)
Hi! Well, it sounds like you're all set up ok. I wonder if it's a slightly noise valve in the preamp? It's not totally unlikely (and it has to be said no fault of either you or amp) but they can come up a bit noisy unless the valves are premium drive tested ones. I recall having a set of Ampeg preamps and the first thing I did with all of them is replace the valves for quality ones. What a great difference that made too! I think the amp is healthy, I don't expect that it's a fault and if you can live with it, it won't detract from the amplifier's performance. It could be an interesting thing to try though, popping in some other valves to check it with. Surprisingly, I've had my Kilo for a while and haven't touched the valves at all! lol - Now that IS unlike me Maybe it's just a great amp off bat!
13. It comes right off and is padded to protect the pedals when it is on. There are rubber feet squares under the base half.
14. Hi all! So, for a while I've used this guitar for teaching and it has been a spare at two gigs. A super little machine! The good: A cheap runner with a surprisingly full tone from the guitar featuring a hard-tailed fixed bridge. Absolutely perfect for down tuning and stays in tune so well. I've had the pickups upgraded - there's a superb Dimarzio Steve's Special in the bridge position and a Dimarzio Evolution in the neck position. These were not new pickups, but have not seen much use. The Bad: The tone control has been removed so there's a hole! The Ugly: I fitted locking tuners thinking fast string changes would be a good idea, but the tuners were not very good ones. The strings locked perfectly but failed to stay in tune. Yup, that's an epic fail. I've removed them and reinstalled the original tuners. There are 6 small holes where the fixing screws were. I'd like £100 for the guitar - it plays like a dream despite it's imperfections and of course, there's some great pickups on board too. Trades-wise, I'll let you know! PM me with any interest and we'll go from there!
15. Still here if anyone is interested! Before I change my mind!
16. I feel I'm a little late to the party!!! I'd missed the wonderful unveiling video! Andy, thank you for the very kind words, it means a lot. Your video is excellent and as has been said already, how you managed to talk for so long without playing it - you're a stronger man than I!!! - The initial pause when you open the case! Ahhh!! I think I hung on your every word after staring at this gorgeous gorgeous bass! There's so much I like about it. Truly stunning, congratulations! The reverse headstock!! oh yes!! - Funnily, it was a guitarist that got me in to reverse headstocks too. Both of my electrics are upside-downers! Paul Gilbert for me though. On the subject, I recently found out that a friend of mine was the very person who suggested Ibanez start doing reverse headstock guitars many years ago. I've known him for a while now, but didn't know he was to blame for my quirky love for them! Anyway! I digress - I just wanted to post a message to say that this is a wonderful bass. Jon never ceases to surprise me even though I know that his basses are already untouchable value for money! Beee-oooo-tiiiii-fulllll!!! I'm off to listen to your soundcloud clips now!

18. The click you are hearing is a relay in the protection circuit that is connecting the amp to the speakers. That is completely normal and yes, it does it after a short time. The hiss you are hearing afterward is general noise created by the valve preamp. This *to an extent* is normal, but if it is really loud there's probably a simple cause. Are you using the overdrive section, boosting treble frequencies, boosting the compressor or using the master volume high and gain control too low? Each or any of these can cause undue hiss in any amplifier. If you are still getting a huge amount of hiss, then it could be a noisy preamplifier valve.
19.
yes you can matey, check out the vids of billy on youtube talking through the features of it...there's a clean loop and a dirty loop and you can put whatever you like in them
Saved me replying! - Yes, as Andy says, you can chain as many pedals as you like in each loop giving you effects on the clean side as well as the 'dirty' side. You can also use just the returns of the loops through the compressor and off to the output as a mixer as well as isolating just the distortion for example by running and instrument in to the pedal input and then out of the 'dirty' loop send. Similarly, you can inject your own signal bypassing the distortion altogether in to the dirty loop return as well as feeding your normal (or any other) signal in to the pedal input to make use of the clean channel and compressor. It's a really felixible pedal if you think outside of *just* Billy's tone!
20.
I reserve a special hatred for Mike Mansfield. I'd lock him in a room and force him to watch all his stupid out of focus videos on a never ending loop. Back on topic. I only ever tried to sell one thing on Gumtree and I got swamped by Nigerian scammers. If £7 keeps those arseholes away from the For Sale section then it's all good by me.
A Facebook friend of mine advertised for a flat-mate on Gumtree. She was shocked and sickened to actually receive emailed 'photos of men...err... 'posing' shall we say. It's not a good place to advertise, that's for sure.
