JamUp app on ipad or iphone and a Line6 sonicport would be the best option in my opinion, and would be cheaper than the Kemper or the AxeFX.
Yes with the inclusion of AudioBus app too extends routing options. Brilliant app!

I've been using an F# on my Shuker 7 for years! It's a 175 gauge string on that and the tone is very very good. Don't forget that although the fundamental frequency is down in the 20hz region, your ears are picking up on the overtones and harmonics more. Your brain fills in the bits that are missing so you hear the note lower than B for example. As for being flappy, well that's down to bass construction and string design. Yes if you take a B string and detune it to F#, sure it will be flappy and unuseable. If you take a string designed for that tuning and put it on a bass that is also designed to bring out the best of that kinda string then you should get good results. I do for sure. As for the Dingwall, yeah I've played a prototype that Sheldon brought over to the Uk with it's 37" scale F# string. Again the gauge was a custom 175 designed by Circle K and it worked beautifully! So I agree with the post above. It's not for everybody, but it's just really good fun and you can get really creative with using different tunings. Isn't that what music is about?

One of my all time favourite rigs I owned was an SVT2 Pro on top of a pair of Hartke 4.5XL cabinets. Just monstrously superb, but these days would probably be the death of me. Loved it!

If you don't need all that modelling stuff thrown in but just want really tasty pristine modulations, compression, pitch shift, delays, reverbs and EQ then I would steer you toward the TC Electronic racks. The G Major 2, G Force or if you want the ability to go rack or floor, then the G System (latest version) is superb.

Rotosound do a 175 gauge string and as mentioned above, Warwick's Dark Lord set has a 175 in too. A big thumbs up for Newtone in the UK who can wind something of a custom variety too. Great service from those guys.

Aguilar Tone Hammer 350 - not the slapper's choice?
Dood replied to Matte_black's topic in Amps and Cabs
I've a TH500 and have to say it does a beautiful slap sound. There is plenty of top available! I reviewed one with the SL cabs and a Spector 'super jazz' Coda bass and found the sound to be big and fat with just the right amount of bite, rather than being all top and no..well.. balls! -
I've gone the other way down to F# on my 7. I have to agree, they are brilliant fun, not at all hard to play and not in the slightest scary! Hours of enjoyment even when I'm just noodling about.

You'd expect that if the preamp in a bass was supposed to be completely transparent that you *shouldn't* hear any difference when it is switched in or completely bypassed. The difference being only when you boost or cut the EQ controls. There *is* often a difference between passive and 'flat settings' active and that can usually be attributed to the preamp having some sort of natural colouring aside from the usual cut and boost settings available. What is inside the Cort I do not know, but it seems to me that it could actually be doing a good job. (Unless of course you particular want something that adds additional colour that is!)

It's crazy isn't it? The whole marketplace *is* really slow at the moment though. Seems there's tons of really good gear not being bought. I suspect it's because of funds being diverted to the 'going on summer holiday kitty' instead. I'm considering effects and stuff at the moment, as well as possibly needing a laptop so ideally would like to see this lil chap on it's merry way!
Very nice, thanks dood. Liked it so much you had to buy it?
Ahh ha ha ha! Wasn't it Victor Kiam who said that lol.. Yes, I'd been eyeing up this one since I first saw it 'in stock'. It was the exact spec I was looking for but I grew in to the colour. Kinda glad- it's an utter peach of a bass..err.. a umm.. yellow peach.. lol!

.... which looks very fine sat next to my other basses
Thanks guys. I wonder what the Yellow looks like with the lighter fretboard though... The green's still out there as a winner for me. The AB1 would be tempting but that a big step up in price and tough to justify! My first bass was a Jazz copy and I've always had a soft spot for them so the SJ5 was tempting.
I asked the same question and Mark very kindly sent me a picture of this AB1 as an example of the yellow with the lighter fretboard, though this is a Bird's Eye Maple.

Yes I have played the NG-2 quite a lot and have to say it really is every bit as good as you'd expect from Dingwall. The first batch have been delayed a bit but should well be on their way from Canada soon out to the rest of the world. The combustions, even though they are the 'more accesible' end of Dingwall's price bracket are still very much a premium instrument. The tone of the NG-2 is throaty with a mid presence on Nolly's favourite setiing when the pickups are in series. I had ordered an NG-2 myself but I am very very pleased to say that I have a brand spanking new and absolutely stunning AB1 5/3 model sat next to me right now. I'm finding that for me personally the extra front pick up gives a great fatness to the bass, even solo'd where I can do a 'P Bass on steroids' kinda sound. I think as the model I played on was a production prototype, the NG's out soon (including a large batch due for September) are going to be superb!

Subscribed! This is very interesting stuff and I have long had problems with various bass straps.

I also have a strict cancellation policy that is clearly outlined when a student joins my 'school'. It is a 24hr policy, which is very fair and I ask the complete lesson rate to be covered as it is very difficult in this part of the world to get someone in that slot within 24 hours. My students accept this and I've never had any problems. On the flipside, I always go above and beyond what is expected of me and thus I hope to ensure that my students get great value for money.

Likewise I owned a pair of Toby Pro 6's. One I upgraded with EMG 40P pickups that were a little short in the recess, but I'm afraid I can't remember how much room there was left over. I suspect the routs were Bart P4 tall, but obviously I couldn't assure you of that. Oh and my other tip, if you can find them, get the older models that didn't have Bubinga bodies as they were to my mind better made. I've played a good few of each type and the newer models before they disappeared were more likely to have finish issues. The preamp in the Tobias Pro basses bore a remarkable resemblance to Mighty Mite drop in units and whilst not bad would almost definitely benefit from an upgrade too.
