1. I'm chatting to Matrix Amplification about this very subject. Like an active studio monitor on steroids that can handle low end too... mmm, sounds almost to good to be true... well, it could be true, if your pockets are deep enough!
2. I have the Zoom Q3HD and yes the sound is actually amazing! It picks up the band at any volume in glorious stereo. The HD model's video is better but I think even the newer models are an upgrade too. Highly recommended. There was a Q3HD for sale on here the other day. Think I'll hang on to mine!
3. You'll no doubt know what this pedal can do! Well, I actually don't want to sell, but needs must. It's either this or the B3 to begin with and hopefully not cracking in to my bass collection. Expect to see more bits and bobs come up for sale soon. This little fella has gigged and has the odd mark on the outer shell (despite being mounted in a pedal board) £65 delivered in the UK .
4. I'm going to chime in quickly to say that when I upgraded from a BBoT on a Precision bass to a 'no-name' (well made) high mass bridge, it was easy to hear the improvement, even in recordings. Don't get me wrong here, it wasn't Nigel Tufnell sustain or whatever. You could however tell that the notes had more depth and a stronger note definition. So, I stand by *decent* bridge upgrades if a 'no-name' can sound better. Who knows - maybe my BBoT was a sub standard part to start with. But that's very unlikely.

Preamp Pedals
I am really interested in this pedal and saw your review Dood, any ideas where to get them, release date etc? Did you get the review pedal from the uk distributor?
Wow, I must admit I've had a brain freeze! I can't remember who the distributor was! Yes is the answer, we did get it through from them and as far as I was aware they had been released already. I understand that you can import directly too.
6. Ben is a great guy to deal with and I have played this bass! It is a beauty!
7. I think despite the very minor incidents over noise, the two days were absolutely excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed myself hanging out with some superbly wonderful musicians. I make no apologies over sharing my pictures on FB cos I had a great time and want everyone to know how important the LBGS is in the bass players calendar. IF you're serious about your instrument and progressing then the masterclasses alone are worth every bit of the cost of the tickets. Oh and you get to talk to the players 1-2-1 also!
8.
If ... BC Moderators for that matter don't like it then that is too bad. I believe I have the right to state what I believe to be true or do we simply keep quiet about issues and no-one gains from the situation. I certainly hope we are not turning BC into a suppressive forum. It should be open to all comments provided they are not derogatory or abusive.
I am not aware of any reports or complaints made to or by BC Moderators thus, you've not been silenced or moderated, thus I conclude that the forum post content isn't being surpressed. You're quite safe As you say, as long as guidelines and T&C's aren't being abused, it's fine. But that's another thread that has been beaten to death elsewhere
9. Ok, these really need to go so the last price drop will be £180 for this matched pair of as new pickups. They are parcelled up and ready to go so all I need is your address....and your money! Drop me a line asap. If you tell me in time I can bring them to the London Bass Show this weekend.
10.
Dood, what I meant was that he doesn't need a 'workable relationship' with the shop to get his rights, that's just crap. Yes, everything I hear about Hartke is good also.
Cool cool, totally agree. His rights should be automatically acknowledged not have to be negotiated. The retailer is being ridiculous.
11.
I'm afraid its about the same level of poor customer service i got when i bought a Kilo from Thomann who finally took it back without issue but trying to get anything from Hartke was a bit of a waste of time. Eventually Larry H did email me after about 2 weeks if memory serves me right asking what the issue was. To be fair he at least got in touch with me. Customer service in US didn't get back to me at all and UK someone got back to me after Larry H did. Pretty poor when the owner of the company gets back to you faster than his customer service departments. It was enough for me never to touch Hartke gear again. I'm now sitting with a very nice GK 1001RBi. It may have been a one off but doesnt sound like it. ??? My Kilo had a complete lack of volume. Could barely hear it at 50% on Vol / gains. Dave
Using TC Electronic as an example, if you buy one of their amplifiers from a different country to the one your are in (US for example) then they don't honour your warranty. The retailer would also be expected to use it's own country's repair centre. Therefore, to berate the customer services of the distributor in a different country to that of the retailer I think is unfair. I therefore would say that Hartke Uk have been really helpful considering. Maybe you're painting a bad image of the situation?
12.
No, that's now Korg's responsibility. I'd get them to send it directly back to you.
It's the retailers responsibility to ensure that the item purchased is fit for purpose and if not exchange it if it has gone wrong in under a year. In fact, as far as Uk consumers are concerned, if it can be proved that the item was faulty from purchase a return to the retailer can be made up to six years (unless that has changed recently) So, IF the itme was purchased in the Uk then Korg Uk will help in providing the hardware BUT it is the retailer who should be bending over backwards to ensure they are compliant with consumer rights. Now, I expect that people may think I am biased, but frankly, Hartke Uk have been great considering really, manufacturers need not get involved with retailer gurantee and returns. I mean, if my TV goes wrong, i return it to the shop, not Samsung and I expect the shop to deal with it.
13. Given that it is less than a year old, is it not the retailer's responsibility to issue a replacement amp and deal with the return themselves? Very poor show by the online retailer. Name and shame.
14. I'd also like to chime in and say the Flexsteels are ace too. I have a six string set on my Gerald Veasley bass at the moment and they feel great. D'Addario will be at the London Bass Guitar Show on Saturday. I know they will have a bass with Flexsteels on to try out on their stand and I will be doing a bit of playing/demoing on the stand too!
15. ah sorry, I didn't see the 'bass heavy' bit at the top! Must pay more attention. heh!
16. I can bring these along to the LBGS in March should they still be available but will also invite sensible offers as I have now bought some pickups that are replacing these. The pickups will fit in most Bartolini sized holes. As I say, they are the same size as a P2 which I believe a number of brands use as a sizing template. Needs must, I'd like to see these sold soon
17. Oh sorry, it's 'Full Range Flat Response'. (Obviously before it gets jumped on, that's a a theoretical endeavour, not a physics absolute lol lol)
18. x1M for Reaper. So happy to see it so well supported. My 'studio' machine is bundled with all sorts including Logic Pro etc etc, but my go-to is always Reaper. I've tracked many long album hours with Reaper and it never fails! I also like that it runs happily on different platforms as well as, should you really want to do it - you can install the whole app on a USB key and take it with you along with your projects. I have no connection with Reaper's manufacturers but I whole-heartedly endorse this product. Love it. I bought the license in literally a space of hours after I'd downloaded!
19.
The Roland D-Bass range is also interesting and ticked enough of the boxes for me to try out. I ultimately am moving it on as it doesn't fit in the back of the car with the castors on and I don't like the amp modelling. A pod into the effects return and it would be quite a versatile DSP equipped little amp.
Hmm! interesting! - I played a gig through a Roland keyboard amp once and was really surprised at how incredibly full it sounded. Ok, we weren't a loud band but this little box that looked like it was possible an 80's model (??) sounded superb!
20. I've had a response back from Matrix and they've been really helpful. They suggested that the FRFR 2x12 cab they have on offer at the moment has a roll off of 55hz so could 'do' bass - certainly four string, but they are possibly looking at a bass guitar solution in 2x10 or 1x15" format. There's nothing available specifically at the moment though so the options are limited. My driver for this is actually wanting a FRFR solution that can do everything from PA to guitar to Bass in one lightweight powerful box. The only downside is that such a solution comes at great cost. So the idea stays in my head for a bit longer lol!
21.
was it you that had used a wee class D module in a cab in the past? I thought it was. I was thinking about a Fearful 12/6/1 build, RichardD has some super light 12mm ply and it was all great till I costed it up. Decided to pay less and get more weight with a secondhand ACME B2 I think the ultimate would be a Powersoft Digimod 500 with DSP into a high end bass cab and then programme the DSP to get the most out of it. But I think that's just one of Jim Bergantino's IP range, which is what I would like to have had...
Yes it was! I had a BK Electronics D Class module - 600W that I sold on to a fellow basschatter who as far as I know is still using it now!
22. The bass line is split up in to some fairly straight forward grooves which are really fun to play. There's a good transcription over at MySongBook (Guitar Pro 6) if I recall correctly. Oh and tabs aren't cheating no more than using a thesaurus or dictionary. You only have to ensure that the author has got it right to begin with! Speaking of GP6, I'd highly recommend it for learning tricky bass lines as you can slow down and repeat difficult sections at your leisure, then mute out the whole of the bass part to play along with the other (albeit electronic sounding) instruments.
23. Ive just picked up another (I sold the last one) TC Electronic C300! Which means I can blather on about parallel compression even more! Love this rack!
