Not good I checked out there site and it looks OK was thinking of trying them out but not so sure now lol Hope they turn up today for you.

I'll spare the details but this service has very badly let down a customer and I am retracting my recommendation.

They sound almost too good to be true! Have you used them? What is their insurance like?
[/quote]
Further to my last comment... they didn't bother to pick up yesterday or let me know why. Lets see what happens today!
Another vote for a soft material plectrum. I've one here that is made from leather. I'd probably never use it myself, it was a gift. Nevertheless, it does a really good job of sounding like fingers instead of a pick. The only downside is that it is about 5mm thick. Not ideal if you are after serious speed.

Yup, I have and have nothing bad to report so far. The insurance as an example is £7.50 for £1000 worth of kit. The T&C's look ok too and I'd recommend both buyer and seller read them to ensure they are covered properly. (But then again, I'd expect that with anyone using any courier for kit of a high value).
I feel MarkBass are missing a trick by doing a separate bass and separate guitar versions when the likes of Kemper and Fractal are not limiting themselves to one side of the fence or other. As the Dragons would say, for that reason, I'm out
Well I've just popped it on my girlfriend's weighing scales and it says 4Kg. I've no idea how accurate they are, but I reckon it's a light bass, certainly in comparison to my other basses.
Hi Mojo - You set them up much like a guitar amp. Set Channel A as you would with your normal clean sound. Then set up the channel B by boosting the gain. As you advance it, obviously the output goes up so you'll need to pull the channel B level down. If you push that Channel B gain up far enough you'll get a bit of preamp drive happening and that 'gnarl', but the point of the B volume is to balnace the eventual B channel tone with the level of A. When you switch between the two you'll have a cleaner sound and a dirty-er sound. You could of course set the levels differently and use B channel as a solo boost too.
Yes, my mate came round yesterday and urged that we listen to Opeth. Since then I've had in the back of my mind to load on Ghost Reveries. Funnily you should mention JMJ though, as I have an Equinoxe sticker right here that I took off my old laptop. So Jarre will probably get a listen too. Especially anything with Guy Delacroix playing bass.
Try out these guys: http://www.bkelec.com/Modules/Amplifiers.htm - I had one of their 450W modules years ago - it was bullet proof. My first 'big' amp was something I put together myself using one of these!

Headphones aren't necessary. The key to that is to NOT listen to the drummer. Set the groove. The drummer is going to go off but when it comes time to hit a downbeat, he'll be listening to the bass.

Absolutely this. Convention in pop music for example suggests everyone follow the drummer for time keeping, rhythm and cues. It doesn't have to be like this and Jazz as an example often moves the responsibility to other members to allow the drummer or percussion to express themselves freely. I've done exactly this kinda thing with many talented drummers. Being able to root that pulse and hang in there without the urge to walk over their spot can be cool in context when delivered well. Although on occasions the solo has been a bit 'out there' and you sometimes wanna rein them back in a bit.
I love my prog so I find clever polyrhythms and rhythmic devices interesting and at times challenging but I personally would shy away from stuff that misses the point of the song.
I'll get some more 'photos up if anyone would like. You are welcome to come play this one - you'll probably end up leaving with it! Superb instrument - I can even have it set up ready for your playing style.
Check the description and ask any questions. I'm not planning on putting on eBay as I would rather sell to the BC community. Shipping can be discussed also.
Drop me a line!
Anyway, dragging the thread right back across that line....
What will the future bass gods be? Once upon a time, before the internet they were slaying stadiums of fans, but now, do they even need to leave their teenage bedrooms?
