1. Given that it is less than a year old, is it not the retailer's responsibility to issue a replacement amp and deal with the return themselves? Very poor show by the online retailer. Name and shame.
2. I'd also like to chime in and say the Flexsteels are ace too. I have a six string set on my Gerald Veasley bass at the moment and they feel great. D'Addario will be at the London Bass Guitar Show on Saturday. I know they will have a bass with Flexsteels on to try out on their stand and I will be doing a bit of playing/demoing on the stand too!
3. ah sorry, I didn't see the 'bass heavy' bit at the top! Must pay more attention. heh!
4. I can bring these along to the LBGS in March should they still be available but will also invite sensible offers as I have now bought some pickups that are replacing these. The pickups will fit in most Bartolini sized holes. As I say, they are the same size as a P2 which I believe a number of brands use as a sizing template. Needs must, I'd like to see these sold soon
5. Oh sorry, it's 'Full Range Flat Response'. (Obviously before it gets jumped on, that's a a theoretical endeavour, not a physics absolute lol lol)
6. x1M for Reaper. So happy to see it so well supported. My 'studio' machine is bundled with all sorts including Logic Pro etc etc, but my go-to is always Reaper. I've tracked many long album hours with Reaper and it never fails! I also like that it runs happily on different platforms as well as, should you really want to do it - you can install the whole app on a USB key and take it with you along with your projects. I have no connection with Reaper's manufacturers but I whole-heartedly endorse this product. Love it. I bought the license in literally a space of hours after I'd downloaded!
7.
The Roland D-Bass range is also interesting and ticked enough of the boxes for me to try out. I ultimately am moving it on as it doesn't fit in the back of the car with the castors on and I don't like the amp modelling. A pod into the effects return and it would be quite a versatile DSP equipped little amp.
Hmm! interesting! - I played a gig through a Roland keyboard amp once and was really surprised at how incredibly full it sounded. Ok, we weren't a loud band but this little box that looked like it was possible an 80's model (??) sounded superb!
8. I've had a response back from Matrix and they've been really helpful. They suggested that the FRFR 2x12 cab they have on offer at the moment has a roll off of 55hz so could 'do' bass - certainly four string, but they are possibly looking at a bass guitar solution in 2x10 or 1x15" format. There's nothing available specifically at the moment though so the options are limited. My driver for this is actually wanting a FRFR solution that can do everything from PA to guitar to Bass in one lightweight powerful box. The only downside is that such a solution comes at great cost. So the idea stays in my head for a bit longer lol!
9.
was it you that had used a wee class D module in a cab in the past? I thought it was. I was thinking about a Fearful 12/6/1 build, RichardD has some super light 12mm ply and it was all great till I costed it up. Decided to pay less and get more weight with a secondhand ACME B2 I think the ultimate would be a Powersoft Digimod 500 with DSP into a high end bass cab and then programme the DSP to get the most out of it. But I think that's just one of Jim Bergantino's IP range, which is what I would like to have had...
Yes it was! I had a BK Electronics D Class module - 600W that I sold on to a fellow basschatter who as far as I know is still using it now!
10. The bass line is split up in to some fairly straight forward grooves which are really fun to play. There's a good transcription over at MySongBook (Guitar Pro 6) if I recall correctly. Oh and tabs aren't cheating no more than using a thesaurus or dictionary. You only have to ensure that the author has got it right to begin with! Speaking of GP6, I'd highly recommend it for learning tricky bass lines as you can slow down and repeat difficult sections at your leisure, then mute out the whole of the bass part to play along with the other (albeit electronic sounding) instruments.
11. Ive just picked up another (I sold the last one) TC Electronic C300! Which means I can blather on about parallel compression even more! Love this rack!
12. An 'oldie' but still very much a goodie, here's my build thread from 2007 - My Shuker 7 is still going on very strong! I'll no doubt have it with me at the London Bass Show in March if you wanna come see it in the flesh!
13.
Have you seen the thread I started about using PA gear- the guys with a bit of knowledge chimed in with some suggestions. When I was looking at it I kept seeing the cheaper LD systems Stinger stuff at good prices - I think two of the 15inch ones were £500, they had Kappalite 3015HO in them - I had half a plan to use one and meanwhile remake the other one as a bass cab with a lower response using the charts on Eminence's website...
Hmm! Interesting! I was also thinking about a Greenboy Fearful/Fearless type build adjusted to house a power amp module or have a 'head case' type design so that an amp head could be fixed.
14.
Ok I forgive you
You know I always bring ya the good answers
15. I've asked Matrix.
16. Gimme a chance chap - interestingly I find myself with a similar dilemma and am hoping to share some of my findings. I've a Matrix power amplifier which is superb and have been thinking of ways to strap it to a 'monitor' style cabinet for a while. I guess I need to ask Matrix if their 'FRFR' cabinets are suitable for bass! (With a view to modelling both guitar and bass depending on gig)
17. /subscribing
18. Grab some SUPERB pickups for a crazy price! I'm possibly on the look out for a lightweight bass combo too and will see what takes my fancy!
19. Sorry, correct link: Delano SBC 5 Drive HE/S Dual Coil / Dual Rail pickups - Pair. (They are marked for neck and bridge positions) =1&tx_smtdelano_pi1[series]=10&tx_smtdelano_pi1[strings]=6&tx_smtdelano_pi1[system]=121"]http://www.delano.de/products.html?&cHash=3fec0b5b32&tx_smtdelano_pi1[cat]=1&tx_smtdelano_pi1[series]=10&tx_smtdelano_pi1[strings]=6&tx_smtdelano_pi1[system]=121
20. NEW PRICE £190 Uk/Delivered Hi All! I have a superb top of the line pair of Delano SBC 5 pickups for sale - These have only just been installed in a bass, but I am changing to EMG as I prefer 'em. These are unmarked and as new, but have been installed in an instrument (which never really left the house) and give my bass a full, round fat yet detailed sound. It is smooth and dynamic, whereas I've gotten used to the bite of the EMG DC so much that I am at odds with these superb pickups. Make them a new home asap. Shipping will be insured as soon as I can and is included for UK shipping. I suspect you won't find a better price for a matched pair! Here's a link to them: http://www.delano.de...x_smtdelano_pi1[cat]=1&tx_smtdelano_pi1[series]=10&tx_smtdelano_pi1[strings]=6&tx_smtdelano_pi1[system]=121 Fitting is simple and as the title says, they are the same say as Bartolini P2 pickups so will easily drop in a bass with say, cheap Bartolini MK1 pickups and will make a substantial upgrade. Some would say they make a great upgrade from Bartolini Classic pickups too. Other brands such as Nordstrand also use the P2 sizing, so you'll be able to upgrade a bass with something like Big Singles in too I understand. All the details are on the Delano website including wiring diagrams and tech specs. and some blurb from Delano: DELANO SBC series bass pickups are dual or quad-coil highend electric bass humbuckers in the classic bass soapbar shapes, available for four, five, six and seven- string basses. They represent the leading edge in dedicated bass transducer technology. Unbelievably full and open sound throughout the entire spectrum with tight bottom, airy midrange and heavenly harmonics unrivalled by ANY other bass pickup. Finally your bass CAN sound like it should. Available as individual units or in perfectly matched pairs. The DELANO SBC4 HE/S was developed to overcome many of the obstacles normally associated with most of the proven dual coil bass humbucking designs. We killed the nasal muddiness, broadened the spectrum and enhanced even order harmonics. How we did it? We simply listened. Because we love to listen. To the music, the players, into the hearts of the instruments. Listen to catch every subtle detail. Hear what is there. Understand what is missing. Think we found it. It is the air. So we put it inside. Finally there is a bass pickup that perfectly blends the full bodied warmth of a humbucker and the airy openness of the best vintage single coils with crystal clear top end definition into pure luxurious bass tone. The pickups can be each wired as either dual single coil, parallel or series and have four wire conductors offering a wide range of tones from just two soap bar units.
21. I'm sorry folks, I've had a bit of extra time (due to an internet connection problem) to spend some playing time with the GV bass - I've decided that at the moment I may well regret selling and have therefore decided to hang on to it a bit longer. This is despite some VERY tempting instruments floating around BassChat right now!!! I'll let you know if I change my mind! Thanks for all the interest - I wasn't expecting so much!
22. There are indeed two versions - the other originally was a £5k model. I have to say though, for the life of me, I can't figure out what the other £4000 went on. Unless of course Aguilar preamps and Bartolini Classic pickups have gone up in price along with figured maple tops. The GVB36 is a superb bass and great value. I'm starting to have second thoughts!
