Agree with you on Rod the Mod, Maggie May, but didn`t Ronnie Wood play bass on Rod`s early solo stuff when he was still in the Faces? But agree with you, Ronnie Lane had great feel. Try and find a live version of the faces song "3 button hand me down". It was on a TOPTP2 special. Just found a link, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeZ4FMIVqto Jez

I never forget any pice of any song..... Time to wake up and get back to reality!!! For a long time, for the life of me, I kept forgeting how to play "she loves you ", even after putting the chords in front of me! I think it was a nervous thing and I can play it fine now. If I do ba*ls it up, I kid on that I am adjusting the pa or do the same the next time around and say I was trying something out. Jez

Very nice. I like the black headstock with the white writing. If I didn`t have the real thing I would definatley be looking at one of these. Glad to hear that the quality is on a par with the overpriced Lakland`s. If EB can do these for £600 why can`t Lakland. Jez

Self plus stupid looking drummer at gig last saturday. Got me new Fender 70`s Jazz and Eden rs210. Sweet! Jez -
Thats a new one that is, a drummer with no kit? Have to hire one for a gig? Not being on time is not on, it shows a lack of disrespect for the rest of the band, the venue and the fans. You seem to be doing all the hard work. As mentioned, nick any of the band you think are worth going on with and start your own thing. Jez

Had a Jag, the active circut ain`t very good. The bass control was either on or off. and why have a switches that can turn both pickups off? Done that accidently at a gig! The Stingray is a much better bet, the 3 band eq really cuts through the mix. Looks damm cool as well. You should be able to get a secondhand Ray for the price of a new Jag. I have nothing against Fenders but the Stingray just seems like a better bass all round. The only gripe I have is as I have been playing fingerstyle on Fenders for a while, I couldn`t get used to resting my thumb on the pickup when it is mounted so close to the bridge, so, I got a Ebony thumbrest and stuck it on nearer the neck and that solved the problem. G&L`s are great basses as well and the one for sale on here, blue in colour, is a cracker. Jez

Good to see a happy ending. Now, I`m off down the pub to celebrate! Jez

If you buy something on line you have 7 days to return it under the selling at distance (or something like that) rule. Basically, if you return it as new they have to give you your money back. Dont know about over the phone but I imagine that it would be the same deal if you cant see the item you are ordering. Also watch some ads as they may say "item may be on display" which could mean that every spotty 13 year old death metal numpty could have had their hands on it. Jez

That`s a lousy thing to do. The guy sounds like a right romancer. If I see him when I`m oot and aboot he will be getting some verbals thrown in his direction. I hope that you can get it resolved soon. Jez

I`ve had an MAG 300 combo for around 6 years now, one of the British one`s. I have bought a Eden Nemesis RS210 which I`m collecting later today but the only reason is I want to try something different and heard a Nemesis 200 watt and was well impresed. The Ashdown has never let me down and it has been thrown about and abused on a regular basis. Hopefully the Eden will be dinky doo but I will still keep the Ashdown as a backup. Jez

Geddy Lee- Can sing, play the bass and operate keyboards via footpedals all at the same time! And plays a bass that cost him $200. Steve Harris- Fantastic player and writer. Pino Plladino-Superb on The strat pack dvd. Pete Way of UFO-Love the guys style and attitude to playing the bass. John McVie, Andy Rouke, Geezer Butler, the late Jimmy Dewar ex Robin Trower, Roger Glover, Bob Daisley, Ronnie Lane, John Rhino Edwards of Quo, Jim Lea of Slade................ Jez

Definatley a bad scene although to be fair to the drummer, I wouldn`t be too happy lending out expensive gear unless I knew the person well. Having said that, a guitarist I know left his band because the drummer bought an MX5 sports car and gave his kit to the other band members to take to gigs. If I were you I would start looking for another band as they seem to be taking the p**s. A few years ago I was asked to join a band who were forming. When I asked about a pa they said that they had "done lots of gigs before and pubs have their own pa, so we dont need one". That`s a good one I thought to myself. Me-Exit satge left! Jez

And behold, people with more sense did come along....Now Steve get your raincaot on and buy the cab. Jez
-
Monkman Cant answer your question but get across here and buy the cab before I change me mind about selling, LOL. It`s a bloomin bargin! Looking at the spec page I think that the 2x10 cab would allow your amp to work to it`s full potential. And yep that`s an external speaker output. But dont take my word for it, wait until somone with more sense comes along..... Jez

That looks well tasty and I`m thinking of getting another combo. Any idea when it`s comin oot? Jez

I`ve got a program from Canada circa 73 from an Elton John concert. It`s signed "to Margret love Elton". Got it because his one time manager grew up beside my mothers family. When old Elton hairpiece pops his clogs, e bay here it comes. Jez

Gotta agree with Clarky and others. Strangers in the night, brill album from one of the most underatted and out of it bands to have come from these shores. If you want the ultimate live album, try the Grateful dead. They have a series of cd`s called Dicks Picks which were taken from the desk usually. Take Dicks Picks 24. For the 1st song it has only bass, drums and vocals until eventually the sound guys get it right and you hear the full band. What you get is the songs, warts and all. Part of their charm for me. They were also notorius for forgetting lyrics as well, even when they wrote the songs themselves! Great band but an aquired taste. The gig was a test of The Wall Of Sound Pa. How many transit vans to shift this lot? Jez

Regarding the £25 I mentioned, I downloaded it about 3 years ago and I agree £46 does seem a lot. Right, I off to Hull.... Jez

Why dont you download a program called Digital Music Mentor. You can download a trial version and then if you like it it costs around £25 if I remember right. It`s 90% right (most times!) and is very helpful. You can also use it on as many computers as you like. And don`t anyone start lecturing me about learning by ear, reading quavers/dots on a line and all that muso stuff. That`s great if you can do it but I prefer the cowboy way. Jez

How many strings on a standard bass guitar?
jezzaboy replied to JimBobTTD's topic in General Discussion
I only use 3 of the available four strings anyhow. Were it not for neck / tension issues, I'd dispense with the D string altogether. End of.
Thank god for that! I thought I was the only one to use 3 strings, although it`s the G I dont bother with. Jez
