That`s a lot of bad luck for the one band. I think I would go for option 3 and see how things turn out with your drummer pal. I would take the time to explain the sitiuation fully to your other band mates (something I imagine you would do anyway) and move on.
Looks like it will be awful to play and sound terrible, are we sure its not a real gibbo
Cruel Pete but it cheered me up!
You should keep a digital recorder with you at all times and record your posts before you forget them. Don't forget to keep it by your bed in case you dream a post during the night!
That happened to me YESTERDAY. I`ll get me dirty mac.......... -

Those of you who play in covers bands on the pub scene help!
The band I just left regularly did 3 hour slots. Just think we didn't have the heart to stop and tell people to sod off once we'd got them dancing!
I agree with this. We used to do say 75mins then 20 min break then rock out till we had to stop. So, go on about 9 then play through to 12.30am ish. A good tip is to take along an i pod with some tunes on it so that you can play it before going on and during your break just to keep things moving along. And get a 1x15 or 2x10 which will be more than ample for most pubs. -
i've just bought this '76 p bass but i need your help!

To the OP. I take it you returned the bass? Was it a duffer? http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/bass_guitars_detail.asp?stock=px-G15ES2730 -

Quality of sound becoming less important?
jezzaboy replied to paulpirie8's topic in General Discussion
From around 1985, I always owned decent hi fi separates, Marantz, Rega, Dual, Mission, Yamaha...But I no longer have the space to have a turntable, the vinyl has all but gone and the cassettes are in a shoe box out of harms way. All my music I now play is on a hard drive and played through a small JVC micro component system. In the past the quality of the music was all important but as I stay in a flat and can`t crank up the volume to a decent level, my ears have become accustomed to the inferior sound of the JVC. -
Now I'd be interested to hear about the Tbird Classic when you get it. I see GAK are doing them at £320 for the sunburst....
The T bird ain`t gonna happen as the bank manager (or the wife as she is sometimes know) says NO!! I see that the price of the NM has risen to £674. Fender strike again!!

Agreed, a very talanted man. I am led to believe he is also a very decent guitar player to boot. His playing is superb on the Cliff and the Shadows dvd. Not that I own a Cliff dvd you understand
-
I will always buy the track or album. I`m not comfortable with the idea of downloading music for free when someone, more than likely people with the same dreams and ambitions that some of us hold dear, has put a lot of time and possibly their money into.

About 4 years ago, I picked up a Marshall B25 mark 2 secondhand on Gumtree for 25 quid and it has been really good. Decent enough sound and the tone controls actually work! It gets used every day and even has a headphone output. Of course, now I have said all this, it`s bound to go Pete Tong!!!

The Big Figure and John B Sparks from Dr Feelgood who I have just re-discovered. Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd. Steve Harris and Nicko.

Am I a musician, or do I just have a good memory?
jezzaboy replied to thebrig's topic in General Discussion
Always have faith in your own abilites. I know very little theory but like yourself can play lots of songs and that is good enough for me. When I was starting out and had very little confidence, a guitar player said to me " if you have no faith in your abilites, how do you expect anyone else to?" You are a musician and a Rock n Roll star! -
I`going to see about getting one of these tomorrow. Going for the sunburst colour. I took my old T bird down to the studio the last coupie of visits and seem to be getting on with the shape and how it hangs (ooer missus) on me. This looks like a right decent bit of kit for the money. Put it this way, I`m gonna get on with it this time!! Well she who must be obeyed has put the kybosh on this purchase for the moment
-
Hey guys and Gals!! Guitarguitar have 2 of these in stock. I was going to get one but I`m a bit short of the cash the noo so will buy a Epi Tbird classic. And they do 12 months intrest free as well
-
Thoman has them arriving on the 18th of January, so I would image the UK shops will have them at the same time.
-
I don`t know if they are available yet. Haven`t seen any, it always says coming soon.
-
At the moment I own 2 and they are only worth around £180 each. Not so long ago, I had 9 but that was frankly, mental! I am about to start doing pub gigs again shortly so I will keep my eye open for a cheap Yammy or similar to take as a back up to one of the other 2. I would really like to own and gig one bass but am too much of a woosy pants to do that. The thought of my main gigging bass going kapoot for whatever reason on a gig and not having a back up, is too scary to think about.

Asking for bass tabs??? On here??? Did you get a suit of armour for xmas??? Try Ultimate guitar or 911 tabs and take it from there...
-
Aye, but he`s a talanted ugly b*stard!!

are there any super bands with poor bass players?
Jason Newsted / Metallica Clifford Williams / ACDC
Having played in an ac/dc tribute act, I know this is so wrong. He may only play root notes most of the time but his timing and overall playing is bang on. Always. You should try and play a full set of songs at the pace he does. Another guy who play what the song requires. Like Adam Clayton, Roger Waters etc. -
Good to hear it`s still kicking about. I thought it was still "on here." You are right about the neck, it puts a Tbird to shame.
-
They were all made by Status and still are. The one I had (serial no: 101) sounded really nice with the Jazz style pickups, 2 band EQ and active / passive switch. I don`t remember it being all that heavy but to my eyes it was ugly and I had to get shot of it. If you like the looks of it, they are cracking basses.
