1. That gold on blue works in my eyes... I like it!
2. Jamming in bands or with other musicians is the best way to learn. Stick an ad up or go to a local jam night. Then you can see how what you have learned fits into a real situation.
3. One of these.... Into one of these. A GLX100 combo that got chopped down into a head and a Laney extreme 4x12. I also use this cab with a 2x10 for bass duties and it copes with any signal I chuck through it. Guitar wise, I have a Indie Jaguar copy, a 94 Squire Strat and a knackered Epi Les Paul.
4. I use heavier strings on me electric than on me acoustic. I think they were 13s...
5. I did my first solo gig in about 15 years last night. Went well, all things considered.
6. I got a 2006 MIM Jazz in sunburst. Plays amazing, sounds amazing and says Fender. Does the job.
7. Such a shame the 'burst wasn't salvageable... but the blue really works.
8. Can I be the first to say Pics or didnt happen!
9. You could buy a Cleartone Conversions wide neck special...... lol
10. Nah. It has l some mojo in them scars, each one a tale.
11. Well, that was far more straight forward than I expected... Tuned and sounds really sweet! A pic before my camera died
12. Basic rule. If you can be punched in the bollocks when playing, its too high
13. I have had this sat in my garage for over a year and I have decided to bring it back to life. There is a crack just behind the headstock join but its nice and clean and glueable. I have already scavenged the tuners from an old Epiphone LP Special an have fitted them. The pins, bridge and nut have just arrived. It needs a bit of glue on the edge of the body. I also have a single coil which I will mount in the soundhole. Pic when I get them!
14.
I'm a fan of the Boss portable tuners. Very precise, even on a bass, which is what we want. It looks like this
Ditto
15. AFAIK Bass centre made an exact replica of Leo's 62 jazz (all bar the headstock shape). I guess most basses would be a standard of whatever era, but its the look I suppose. The Rory Gallagher sig Strat and the Jaco Jazz look fantastic.
16. Sorry if this has been done but what "famous" bass guitars would you dig if you could get a company to release a replica? I think mine would be this fella Leo Lyons 1962 Jazz Bass. Sublime
17. So when will they do a Leo Lyons signature Jazz? I was fortunarte to have a go on his bass and it was glorious.
18. My Jazz went from white to black and now has tort. Black on burst is cool in a SRV kind of way.
19. I once gigged an Encore Str*t I found in skip. It did not survive.....
20. As I am now the defacto singer and bass player, I need to learn to go Phil Lynott and do the two equally well. I am also launching my solo act too. First gig Feb 1st.
21. We got two guitarists (who were already "the band" with the drummer when I joined). On the majority of tracks it sounds brilliant as I love the classic rhythm/lead dynamic and there are a couple of doubled lead lines. But, especially when rehearsing/jamming new material, it can fall into them both playing the same chords with the same shapes which muddies it up a tad. ut I feel its worth it once you nail the dynamic.
22. Useless phone...lol. it was in excellent shape apart from the strings. Someone is a happy bunny.
