  3. Just purchased a Warwick Profet bass head with a 2x10 cab of Mike. Lovely chap who delivered it to my door. Fantastic items and my thanks to him Fred
  4. I think it has a rather nice Thin Lizzy vibe. I don't think I could get through an hour long gig with it round me neck, though.
  5. Vox - Chris Robinson (Black Crowes) Guitar 1 - Jack White Guitar 2 - Bernie Marsden Bass - Moi Drums - Jason Bonham
  6. If their basses are as sturdy and well made as their Pacifica guitars then they should be awesome!
  7. It looks like a homemade black paint finish to me. Its cracking nicely!
  8. No more gigs until Feb at the earliest. I have just taken over as singer as well as bassist so I need to work out how the hell you are supposed to do both at once!
  9. I got this thing here a few months ago and never did do a NBD. I originally wanted a cheapo Precision type to keep in the rehearsal space and initially bought a Satellite P Bass which had a proper knackered neck. I salvaged the bits and sold the body for thirty notes. I then got this for thirty off eBay. The initial pic.. I peeled the Gibson sticker off, scraped the finger poo and the grime, popped new strings on and plugged it in. No sound. Off comes the pickguard and one slap of a soldering iron later, it were roaring. I also scraped the black emulsion of the chrome ashtray, dowelled the holes and re-attached it as it was a touch loose and rattly. The only provenance I have on it was that the seller was given it by his Dad who bought it (and used it) from the mid to late Seventies. No idea if its lawsuit or Woolies. A six bolt plate holds the neck on. It is wood, not ply and weighs a ton. But on a strap its nicely balanced. The head stock is the standard Fender shape but painted black, as is the back of the neck. I now use it regularly at rehearsals and its a vastly difference beast to my Jazz. Baseball bat neck and a thud that can shift earth, The tone pot has a very wide sweep and the action, whilst quite lofty, is manageable and is excellent exercise for the digits. I am proper happy with it. THE PICS
  10. Taste Cream Jimi Hendrix Experience or if the Delorean was in the garage, I'd go for The Cold War Kids
  11. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
  12. Foreigner - 4 purely for Jukebox Hero, although I don't reckon there is a bad song on there.
  13. To me, a bass solo is playing the bassline up on the upper frets. And gurning
  14. Hello Oxford Band! Fantastic tracks. Maybe our paths will cross in the near future!
  15. I have a cheap no-name P-Bass copy from the late seventies, and the tone pot on that has a massive sweep. Is it worth cleaning the contacts to make sure there is nowt causing a contact half way round?
  16. The Solo Pope Show was on the shortlist for my previous lot, as was They Keep Killing Suzy
  17. Set-up? Thats taking outta the case and strapping it on, isnt it?
  18. We are Dirty Sweet Lies, an Oxford based rock band looking for a new singer for lead vocals (and some backing vocals on a minority of songs) for a 15th October start. We play our own material; currently have a set running around 45 mins and are always working on new stuff and have gigged across Oxfordshire. We're keen to gig regularly (we have 1 gig booked in November currently) and in the future do some more recording. We recently recorded our first double A-side single which we have released on iTunes and Amazon. Our songs vary from heavier stomping rock to slower ballad style stuff. We rehearse once a week in Bicester and are looking for someone who is into Led Zep, Foreigner, Early Fleetwood Mac sort of rock with a hint of Southern Rock (Skynyrd, Allman Bros). Being over 21 and within a commutable distance of Bicester, Banbury & Oxford is preferred. You will need to be available for rehearsal on Tuesday evenings and gigs.
