1. Some of the forums I frequent have a live Java chatroom. Its a great way to get to know other posters etc. In fact, I met my wife in one dedicated to Dr Who! Any chance of getting one on here?
2. I do find it odd when people turn up to gigs without their instruments. This has happened at least 4 times to me, one time having another bassist telling me (not asking me) that he was using my gear including my bass. A curt "You ain't, pal" and he came back with "But you said we would be gear-sharing". In the end, his band told him do do one as this apparently happened fairly regularly to them.
3. As for singlecut basses, i have been GASsing one of these forever
4. Chap I know is flogging a Jaguar bass, which is a blinding bit of kit. Red body and matching 'stock.
5. http://www.federalradio.co.uk Dunno what time but its a great show any road!
6. I reckon I'll leave her anonymous. This thing had been sat in a shed since the mid eighties, apparently.
7. It was a bugger to get off but looks better without it. I have given it a spruce up and and I am rather pleased with its sound.
8.
Does he have a Scots accent?
Only when he is pissed.
9. Unrelated but my dad is called Alan.... and his initials are ACG. To my knowledge he has never built a bass.
10. My Jazz is a 300 quid MIM but has never let me down. The neck is perfect and it sounds immense, I have never (and hopefully will never) need another one.
11. The neck will be going in the skip. I will stick it in a closet until I come across a dirt cheap neck. However I have (against all reason) got another cheapo P-bass copy for thirty quid. It has provenence dating back to 1979 but has no ID marks on it at all. But it plays and sounds rather good. With a bit of a clean up and a change of strings (and peeling the sticker off it....) it sounds very punchy and the neck, whilst chunky, is nice and smooth.
12. I Believe in a Thing Called Love by The Darkness. Cheesy as hell but the punters love it!
13.
I'm the only bass player in the village.
Are you taking photos through my window???
14. More importanly, WHAT GAUGE OF STRING??!! I need measurements! If it has two e's and a bronze G, its probably me. (Note: Buy new strings)
15. I have written at least 10 songs that dont go above the third fret
16. I am not a fan of this type of show but I guess if they HAVE to have shows like this, some kind of variety would be nice. Even then, C4 tried something with bands (Orange-sponsered If I recall) but I can't recall what it was called or who won. I know Jo Wileys annoying mug was on it, mind. And maybe Alex James off Blur.
17. I 'd prefer a Bronco, but Mustangs are cool lil basses. You dont really get that P Bass sound out of shortscales in my experiance.
18. We have only done a couple of gigs in Oxford centre. Maybe you saw us on a toilet wall?
19. I used to have a Tokai Breezy Sound, It was equal to (if not better than) a Fender of the same vintage. I think it was late seventies. I know that some peeps rate them VERY highly.
20. What is it with Oxfordshire vs Yorkshire?? This is the third forum I have joined where this is apparent! Is there an ungerground war I aint aware of?
21. I was under no illusions that it was a piece of sh*t when I bought it, but not this much . Still, I love the patina on the body and it looks nice sat in the corner.
22. Sounds tempting... but I have a lead on another 10 quid cheapo which has a cracked body but a decent neck. I will bear it in mind though.
23. Its only the neck really. The rest is servicable but I aint gonna chuck a load of cash at it. It may even be a nice ornament for the music room.
24. Right. Update time. I have tightened the rod as far as it will go but the neck is knackered. I fear a trip to fleabay for a chaepo replacement Got the sparkies working and the pup sounds amazing! The saga rumbles on..
