1. So I was asked to do a short session for a local venue and ATS Films. One original and one cover The result....
2. Hosted our regular monthly Open Mic night last night in Banbury. This guy regularly blows me away!
3. Received my set and Tee (which fits to a, well, tee!) Slapped em on my Washburn and will be giving them their first run out next week. They feel silky smooooth.
4. I play every gig like its Knebworth, whether its 3 blokes and the bar staff, or a festival in front of 2000 people. Balls to the wall everytime.
5. I won a set the last time this comp ran and they are still on my Jazz. They kept their sparkle much longer than the rotosounds I usually use, I am now officially a convert to Elixirs on a bass. I use them on my guitars too as they are much less abrasive on the old fingers. I would love a set that is an equivilent of the skinny top heavy bottom as I play exclusivley in D.
6. We play in D and I use 50s on my Jazz bass and 45s on my Washburn. I found 40s went way to floppy and ill defined on the low E
7.

Have you tried Elixir strings before? - I have indeed.
What other brands are you familiar with? - Mainly Rotosound
What bass(es) will you try the new strings on? - A Fender Jazz and a Washburn Taurus 12
What sort of environment will you be playing them in (e.g studio, gigging, practicing) - Mainly live but with weekly rehearsal as well.
Why do you think you'll be a good candidate to test the strings? - We play down in D so finding strings that can handle the drop is rather tricky. Also I am a sweaty sod which will give the Nanoweb a good thrashing.
Links to any blogs/reviews you may have already posted (not essential but interesting) - I am neither essential or interesting
Good to see the big brands supporting our wee community and vice versa
8. https://www.facebook.com/events/1588372201449506/ A night of noise from my buddies and me.
9. I listened to their latest album. That was an objectional noise too (Your view may vary)
10. I always sling a cab in the van just in case. Last gig they had gear share, I was trying to play heavy rock through an Ashdown 2x10.
11. Did two hours busking for a Visit Banbury initiative and made 29 quid! I used my new/old EKO and the old girl didn't miss a trick
12. NGD - EKO Acoustic A righty that had been leftied at some point. I prised the nut off, after which it basically shattered into 3 pieces so I glued it back together. I managed to get the old glue scraped off without damaging the wood below it and stuck the rebuilt nut back on. I strung it up and tuned to pitch. The first 5 frets were fine but above that there was a lot of buzzing. Off came the strings and a shim or two under the steel bridge and Bob's your aunties live in lover. Its a cracking sounding thing. The zero fret and the metal bridge give it a trebley zingy tone and it plays smooth and quick all up the neck. There are a few bits of damage on the top but nothing terminal. Best of all, it was only £15. Pics
13. Panic! At The Disco sh*t name, worse band
14. TBH I never liked Nirvana as a rock band name. It suited the sixties one better.
15. Absolutely no idea. Its a Made In China, serial 08047768. They seem to be about but with a thru-neck. This seems to be a bolter.
16. A Washburn Taurus T12! Simplicity in itself. Lovely looking lump with a gorgeous neck, loooooooooooow action and a lil bit of sexy chrome! A new shop had opened selling records, retro games and a few instruments. I asked "how much", he said "you tell me." He wrote a price on his hand. I said "80" and lo and behold I was right! Because I am a cheeky sod, I said £70 and I'll tune all his stock (6 guitars of various vintages). Agreement was struck and I bought it. It also came in a padded Ritter gigbag (which my acoustic also fits in). Well chuffed.
17. Saw the acoustic Status Quo on Thursday at the Albert Hall. Decent show but the support act was woeful. Hopefully this will be better.
18. We have a few show lined up now. If you are local, pop in and say howdy! May 6th at the King Billy, Northampton Details to follow.... 9th July The Bell, Bicester Supporting Beaver Fuel and another act TBC 18th July Supporting Victorian Whore Dogs, Skeleton and Ded Orse Firehouse, Vincents Walk, SO14 1JY Southampton Single/EP recording to commence in July too! ITS ALL COMING UP LEPERS!
19. The neck is surprisingly good for a cheapy. I had one before which had a much shallower neck join and moved a lot.
20. Ahh ok. It has a sticker with a serial and model no on the neck plate. Ill post a pic later. The sigle coils are certainly snappy (pretending to look like humbuckers). The guy I got it from said he bought it new in London in the mid seventies so that date seems about right.
21. Just been dropped off. All working but was absolutely covered in years of grime and gunk. Gave a strip down an a thorough clean and its amazing for such a cheap copy. Mid seventies from the Fujigen factory (so I am told) for Rose Morris's shop in Denmark Street. Didn't come with the case but the strap is the same vintage as the guitar ( i got it with a old Silvertone bass I once had)
