Sorry to hear of this awful roller-coaster ride you've had Andy I had a bad experience years ago, and I must admit, it put me off shipping basses Whenever I read a thread like this, I can hear myself thinking "That's it, collection / meet-up only, when buying or selling basses!" Of course, I have bought a couple from people on BC when posting was the only option, and mostly things have been OK Though even then, a bass was "in transit" to me for 3 days longer than it should have been.... I was worried then, I can tell you I still hate the thought of posting one of my own basses though..... Real shame about the damage to that first one - it looked a superb instrument Mind you, I like the look of your new Guild too Glad it got sorted matey

That looks great Johnny Wishbone. Really like the result on both builds, but particularly this one. Great colour, and the black scratchplate, black blocks and maple neck look superb. I think it's a fab combination, and actually, I think the silver hardware looks just fine Don't think I'd bother replacing with the black hardware.

Great bass. The P/J pickup arrangement is my favourite Is this the Made in Indonesia Vintage Modified series? (can't quite tell from the pic - it looks as though it is If so, they're fab quality instruments for the money, even better with the upgrades I had a VM P/J and it was a great gigging bass Never saw one in that colour though - looks cool GLWTS -
Yes, they're pretty damn good. I use one occasionally, when a 4 piece I'm in, has to play as a 3 piece. It helps a lot Although I haven't used the feature on my Zoom B3 for some time (which someone mentions above) - it's definitely a step up from that. As has been said though, they're pricey, and you don't see many coming up second-hand....

Don't worry about the "fickleness" - I think you've made great progress an a couple of basses, and you've made some alterations / adaptations as you go along So you've achieved plenty, methinks, and are perhaps due some pondering time Yes, I think the shape of the new neck looks good, and perhaps better for this project I'm sure you'll find a buyer for the neck - or as you say, perhaps you could put it on yet another body, and create a further bass?

I completely agree with the sentiment of the above replies The guy has changed his mind several times already - he agreed a price, and agreed to collect. Stick to that, or no sale. It may indeed be the case that he won't do anything "untoward" - but I wouldn't take that chance

I've not seen one of these before, but I use an MXR M80 DI, and I really like it, it's a top quality, well built pedal and this looks to be of the same sort of quality.... Don't forget to Let us know how you get on with it

Nice comparison. Thanks for sharing that video. Superb pickup - pricey though, as you say -
Yes, I thought that too. As iKay says though, it looks fine from the front Must be the angle the photo was taken at

Yes, I think the lighter neck looks nicer, in terms of its' colour I do like the black blocks on the other neck though - goes nicely with the black pickguard, contrasts strikingly with the yellow body Perhaps the colour of that first neck is just a tad too similar in to the body of the bass? Or would it look OK by the time you've got a bridge and strings on it? Either way, I like it. As a few of us have said - you don't see enough yellow basses around

@Happy Jack - just found the website. They do seem a tad heavier than I would have expected, for a small cab They list the C8 as 14 - 17 lbs, and the C88 as 25 - 30 lbs (I assume the variation is down to finish / grille? - I'm not sure) That's still quite lightweight. My Epifani UL110 is around 25 lbs, I think. I really like my EPI 110, and it's good with both DB and Bass guitar I'm always on the lookout for lighter weight gear though - it's good to know what's out there On the site, they seem to recommend using the C8 or C88 with a high-pass filter too. Is that even more gear / cables to lug around though? Or in my case, more to forget! lol
-
Thanks for that Happy Jack. Looks great
-
Definitely this for me......
-
Thanks for that Happy Jack As an 88, is it 4 or 8 ohms? - Just wondering whether I could use it with another 8ohm cab, in the usual way? (where 2x 8 ohm cabs give me 4ohms and more power) I'm looking forward to seeing the pics EDIT: Thanks to Linus for resurrecting this thread ...... and giving me Crazy 8 GAS
-
Righto! How will I know you? Will you be carrying a copy of the Times, and wearing a Carnation?
-
I've not tried a Crazy 8 and can remember being sorely tempted, when one came up for sale on here a while back. (perhaps that's the one you bought Happy Jack?) But I really like the idea of a Crazy 88 - has anyone got any pics and / or clips of one? Is this starting to get to be useable for pub gigs??? All us oldies could have an answer for our dodgy backs, knees, shoulders etc etc Also, someone on a thread here, talks about a bass cab called the "Upshot" - which is yet another speaker I wish I could try out EDIT: Here's the link https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/317173-acoustic-image-upshot/?tab=comments#comment-3431840 Now, has anyone used a Crazy 8 and an Upshot? Or better still a Crazy88 and an Upshot? Is that possible?
