1.
The shortest lived bass for me was a Burns Bison. With no tone, power and a head that hits the floor, it came out of the box was played for around a minute and returned back to the shop......
Yes, I had forgotten that a few years back, I tried one of these in a guitar shop It looked like it should be good, and was something a bit different However, the balance of this bass was awful As you say, the top of the neck just wanted to hit the floor all the time - and it was quite heavy too.... Also, my arms are fairly long (I'm 6 feet tall) but I struggled to get my left hand into a position where I could comfortably play the bottom notes It left me feeling that someone with shorter arms wouldn't be able to play it at all The switch and control knobs also didn't seem to do very much either Looks good, but not a great bass IMO
2. I bought a Markbass Octaver Pedal from Ryan It looks brand spanking new! Pedal sent really pronto, and well packed He's a pleasure to deal with, and I wouldn't hesitate in dealing with him again
3. I'd be interested too But again, depending on date & location.....
4. Bought a set of Spirocore Weich strings from Clarky The man is as good as his word Deal in confidence folks
5. I meant to add; I wonder how many in the audience of that Beatles tribute would have noticed that the bass player was playing the wrong way around to Paul McCartney?
6. I'm actually left handed..... but play right handed There have been a couple of threads on this subject already and I've been surprised at just how many left handers play right handed guitars & basses I have previously tried to play left-handed fashion .... but failed miserably! I used to see a busker around the streets of Cardiff who had two guitars, one left, and one right handed He used to swap between them mid-song and was a pretty incredible player - with either guitar Good luck with your experiment venture and let us know how you get on Marc
7.
Hi Marc, you could use adjustable legs as fitted to kitchen cabinets. My plan originally was to set the height so that I could keep the end pin on the bass at its ready to play position: unfortunately my studio ceiling is on the low side so that proved tricky.
Yes, it's nice to be able to keep the endpin at its' playing height.... Another good tip, re the adjustable legs I can see you've given this some thought Marc
8. Looks to be in great condition .... and a lovely looking bass it is too I'd be interested to see what others think it's worth.....
9. I find it also varies, depending on the bass Sometimes you can give a neck more relief on one bass, and it seems to work well.... ... on another bass however, a similar amount of relief (difficult to judge whether it is exactly the same) and it doesn't work so well, and you may end up with buzzing etc
10. I'm busy the last weekend of July - and I think the Saturday before that Would really love to get to a local bass bash - so I hope I don't miss this one....
11. Would really like to go to a South Wales bass bash Cardiff or Bridgend would probably be better for me personally, I wouldn't mind if it was in Swansea - so long as no-one talks about football ... just be good to get one going My equipment line-up has changed, drastically of late and it's all because of browsing the for sale section on this forum! lol Marc
12. Looks really good Beedster Am looking forward to seeing this develop and to hear your findings / experiences Very kind offers from TPJ and owen too What helpful, friendly basschatters Marc
13. Nice idea, very neat work too And of course, it's been made of left-overs... Even better Maybe you could sell these? Hmm.... I'm now thinking how I could do something similar, and make the height adjustable.....
14. PS. I'm a lefty too But I play right-handed, for some odd reason There are a few threads discussing this oddity somewhere, and several, like me, who thought that was more unusual than it actually turns out to be.....
15. Hi philobedo, Welcome to basschat from another oldie, in bass terms Well, in terms of years anyway Enjoy the forum Marc
16. Oh, and don't look in any other bit of the "for sale" section on here .... just the EUB & DB's for sale!
17.
.....Think I am going to have to nail my GAS down and be patient
Yes, that's the best attitude It's harder than it sounds though.... Be warned lol Good luck with your search Put your savings in an account, and leave the card at home, somewhere safe, and out of sight Marc
18. Hi, do you still have this pedal? Does it come with power supply? Cheers Marc
19. Hi, does this pedal come with a power supply? Cheers Marc
20. PM'd re some questions.....
21. I think TheG has said it really It all depends what you want to pay..... Of course, the best thing to do, would be to try a few out But that's not always easy When I was on the lookout, there were absolutely none for sale anywhere near me (South Wales) And looking on ebay, I contacted sellers, who mostly seemed to want me to pay for the bass in full and meet in a carpark of a service station! Keep your eyes open here, in the for sale section (That's where I just bought my lovely new DB!!!) Good luck If you were anywhere near me, you could have tried my old bass..... Marc EDIT: I haven't looked back since starting on DB Trouble is, if you've got an itch, and there are none around for sale.... it's misery - groan
22. Just bought a lovely David Gage double bass from Greg He's a great guy, really helpful & communicative and had good answers for my questions (some of which were probably daft) A real pleasure to deal with and all-round nice guy Deal with absolute confidence basschatters
