I used to own a 100 Rumble, and it was great - really loud for 100W I found it could be OK for smaller pub gigs but medium & larger gigs, it wouldn't be loud enough + had to be miked up... Rather heavy for a 100W amp IMO but solidly built..... Glad you're enjoying it

[/quote] + 1 to this reply but as others have said, maybe try an octaver I bought one just last week from a basschat member and used it for the 1st time proper, at rehearsal on Weds although I still need to play with it a bit more I was amazed how well it worked on a few songs.....

I really don't know the answer to your question about impedance but I'd get someone who does know to check that issue as dannybuoy says - the crossover will probably still be "working" so that may affect such issues too.... Hmmm, one of the "law suit" types has come up for sale, second-hand, near me They do look good, and I really shouldn't, but I'm tempted cos they're much cheaper than the alternative..... Are they really as good as I've heard people say?

Yes, it's odd that there should be such differences Plus, of course, you might prefer your P bass with one set of strings while another P bass player might pick up your bass and dislike the sound and playability of the strings Moreover, they may not note such differences.... Perhaps some of it is psychological? You tell yourself that you like certain strings, or that there is a big difference where the difference is actually not as great in reality? Anyhow, keep experimenting with strings Clarky.... .... and I'll have your rejects for a bargain price And let us know how you get on with the pre-stretched strings from your Precision

[/quote] Oddly enough, the first time I ever played a bass (a few years before I started playing) a colleague at that time brought in his Columbus Jazz bass Several years since then, he'd bought a USA Fender, and loved it but he hung on to his Columbus, and reckoned it wasn't too far off the quality of the Fender, once he'd made changes to the electrics I think those early Columbus guitars were made in Japan? But I might be wrong..... Another pal had a Sattelite Les Paul, and he rated that fairly highly, at the time I suppose, like anything else, there is some variation in quality and quality control And you can always do some major work to improve some guitars... Nothing would have improved my old Kay Rick copy.... ..... except some petrol and a match

[/quote] Yes, I had forgotten that a few years back, I tried one of these in a guitar shop It looked like it should be good, and was something a bit different However, the balance of this bass was awful As you say, the top of the neck just wanted to hit the floor all the time - and it was quite heavy too.... Also, my arms are fairly long (I'm 6 feet tall) but I struggled to get my left hand into a position where I could comfortably play the bottom notes It left me feeling that someone with shorter arms wouldn't be able to play it at all The switch and control knobs also didn't seem to do very much either Looks good, but not a great bass IMO

I bought a Markbass Octaver Pedal from Ryan It looks brand spanking new! Pedal sent really pronto, and well packed He's a pleasure to deal with, and I wouldn't hesitate in dealing with him again

I'm actually left handed..... but play right handed There have been a couple of threads on this subject already and I've been surprised at just how many left handers play right handed guitars & basses I have previously tried to play left-handed fashion .... but failed miserably! I used to see a busker around the streets of Cardiff who had two guitars, one left, and one right handed He used to swap between them mid-song and was a pretty incredible player - with either guitar Good luck with your experiment venture and let us know how you get on Marc

Looks to be in great condition .... and a lovely looking bass it is too I'd be interested to see what others think it's worth.....

I find it also varies, depending on the bass Sometimes you can give a neck more relief on one bass, and it seems to work well.... ... on another bass however, a similar amount of relief (difficult to judge whether it is exactly the same) and it doesn't work so well, and you may end up with buzzing etc

I'm busy the last weekend of July - and I think the Saturday before that Would really love to get to a local bass bash - so I hope I don't miss this one....

Would really like to go to a South Wales bass bash Cardiff or Bridgend would probably be better for me personally, I wouldn't mind if it was in Swansea - so long as no-one talks about football ... just be good to get one going My equipment line-up has changed, drastically of late and it's all because of browsing the for sale section on this forum! lol Marc
