  1. Forget finding who had it and be grateful you’ve got it! Sounds like it’s a perfect fit!
  2. I have one of these. Plenty loud, and some really nice vintage tones on tap. Oh and they’re as light as a feather!
  3. A sack of springs set loose in a washing machine on “spin”
  4. P Bass all the way through, but I’m a P Bass guy.
  5. That’s lovely. I think there’s something to be said about the chunkier necks being more resonant. I found the same with my new Mike Dirnt P which I believe is a similar profile front to back but skinnier at the nut.
  6. I had the pickup from someone on here and put it in a regular MIM P-bass a long time ago - I remember it being excellent. Given how good this sounds unplugged I don’t expect anything less this time around!
  7. It may be fancy, but it’s still from Mexico! And yes, it’s pretty heavy. I haven’t weighed it, but I had to swap arms halfway through the walk back from the station.
  8. I distinctly remember the moment I played one of these in Wunjo in about 2014. I was amp shopping that day, and was extremely sceptical when Laurence handed me the Mike Dirnt Precision - “any amp is going to sound good with something that nice plugged in” I thought. I left with a new Rumble 40, and a nagging sensation that I would never play a neck quite like it again. I actually thought that these were “out of print” but it popped up as available to buy on the Fender website - I had a 10% discount to use as a Fender Play member, and so a browser tab lingered for a few weeks on end. I run a one in one out system, so in anticipation of pulling the trigger I put a bass up for sale (still available I might add!) But this doesn’t end how you think… A cursory search on eBay on Friday morning and I found this bass, for an agreeable price with a seller just a short hop on the train. Result! I picked it up this morning and have only had a couple minutes of unplugged play in between usual weekend stuff, but it is super resonant, and feels like a quality bass. Can’t wait to get it plugged in and hear it roar!
  9. Not sure if this is allowed, Mods please let me know if not. I have something that fits the bill for sale on here
  10. The sunburst and maple combo is something, Karl! For anyone looking, these are proper basses. The spec is unlike anything else before the American Ultra range which will cost you 3-4x this. Good luck with the sale.
  11. Thanks Karl, they are pretty unique. I’m glad you were able to pick up the one you were after - I saw your wanted ad and hoped you would get lucky!
  12. I bought a thing so this is now firmly up for sale. Sensible offers considered. I’m now including a Fender SKB case in the £750 price. And shipping is an option. Something I’ve wanted for a long while has come up, but I run a strict one in one out policy, so feelers for interest in my Deluxe Active Precision from 2016. I’m a little on the fence about this one as it’s a killer bass, so this is firm on price. I am in SE London (SE20) and work in E1. Willing to meet within London or a sensible distance either side (Herts / Kent) Shipping could be an option (let’s talk) If you aren’t familiar, it’s an Active P/J with a Jazz neck. Pretty flat 12” radius. Hi-mass Bridge. About as fancy as you can get out of Mexico aside from the roadworn stuff. It’s the first time Fender added the 18v preamp (3 band) to this model in the Deluxe Series, and features an active/passive toggle which previous models did not. It is literally immaculate having only been played at home. I only have one picture to hand but here are some videos so you can admire the bass, it’s tones and cringe at my sub-par playing.
  13. Wasn’t the Bongo a design collaboration with BMW originally? Might explain the car-like hues.
  14. It’s so bright and I love it!
  15. The BDI21 is a game changer. I don’t gig but I use it on all my recordings. It should be standard issue 😂
  16. Sounds like you had a great gig. The amp for £40 is bananas!
  17. Sold Si a pair of headphones. Process was as smooth as butter.
  18. Here’s one I had to re-learn from scratch when I realised I’d been playing it wrong for the last 10 years. I couldn’t quite get the little “up” lick in the bridge but otherwise I’m pretty happy with this one!
  19. I’ve never owned a bass worth more (based on the new sticker price at the time) than my Mexican Deluxe P. I have 3 Mexican Fenders, and a USA MusicMan SUB. Thinking about it the SUB would probably be the most expensive of the lot if they were all corrected for inflation but I see it as being in a similar bracket to the MIM Deluxe. I’ve often thought about buying more expensive stuff, but I can’t justify it. I have more basses than I need, and the quality of each would be good enough to use to a professional standard (which I am not) Doesn’t stop me window shopping though 😉
