1.
Incidentally, which Lakland 'design' is different to those of Leo Fender?
plus Lakland necks are much slimmer front to back and easier to play (IME as I like slim necks not chunky necks.... there are many who love thick chunky baseball necks). but then the same comparisons and comments can be made of Warwick stealing Stuart Spector's design quite blatantly.
2.
I agree with this. I reckon if you want a Fender, you should be sure to play it before parting with your cash.
I agree with you on this too.... except i did totally the opposite as I took a total flier on my one accepting that I may not like it. I bought it off Clarky and looked into other For Sale threads with it and everyone had agreed it was great to play, so I just went for it. I thought it was gorgeous (the only Fender i've ever found attractive). http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 *i had previously played through 6-8 fenders at my local store to see whether I liked them, and the only one i'd liked for a US '62 RI but they wanted £1250 for it.... i decided to get one on here instead
3. With fender it seems to all be about the dreaded quality control. If you knew that when you bought a new fender it would always be a "good" one then i doubt there would ever be any brand bashing. You know just what you're going to get as a Fender will just do what a Fender does, no more, no less. I guess where it falls down for some people is when people fork out money for a mid-high end Fender to end up disappointed due to getting a "bad" one. If they could mostly eliminate this situation then i think there would be much less Fender bashing. If they got the QC right then the only people moaning about Fenders would be idiots who buy a Fender expecting it to do things a Fender will never do because Fender stay in the niche that they occupy. The issue is the "bad" ones. I get both sides of the argument as I have a nice USA fender that I love, but i have 4 other gorgeous basses that are totally different to a Fender and do things a Fender will never do.
4. Just received Kev's Darkglass VMT Deluxe. Great transaction. Extra feather in Kev's cap, he completely innocently forgot to take the pedal to work with him to post and was totally upfront about it. He went totally above and beyond what is to be expected and sent it guaranteed next day delivery even though i didn't ask him to. What a great dude!! Pedal sounds totally amazing too.... no more dirt pedal GAS for me.... aside from all the other Darkglass pedals!!
5. oh i'm interested... i just don't have £1500 to spend sad times....
6. oooooh nice! love the effort to lug it into the middle of that courtyard!
7. yeah.... if you get this one you can start building houses and hotels on the white set... that's how you win at monopoly
8. oooooooooh that is very tempting!!

11. Screw objectivity or subjectivity... it looks like a toilet seat and that's the end of it!! *stirs the pot and runs away* .......
12. true it is a LOT bigger than the others, board real-estate isn't too much of an issue for me, but it can be a deal breaker for many! I'm in the process of sorting my pedals into some sort of MIDI/non MIDI system with a switcher/looper. it's all in the early phases.
13. unless you're set on the pedals listed above give the Xotic X blender a look too. great pedal. always on my board now
14. this is such an amazing playing bass. i have an identical bass including colour. amazing neck. really slim front to back. great bass and great price
15. i just blew my furry caterpillar slush fund on Kev's Darkglass VMT deluxe.... it was a tough call, but i thought i'd get more from the FX pedal!
16. my bank manager was very disappointed when i looked at your location and saw it was Highland Scotland. This is sooooooo nice and i've always wanted to have a streamer. fortunately you live at the other end of the country!!

18. +1 for RME. got very good drivers and is a step up in quality (you do have to pay a bit extra but it's worth it in the long run if you can afford it)
19. PM'd and still available type bump to save Kev having to write it's still available
20. well sounds like your mum practically forced you to buy it!! WELL DONE MUM!!
21. can't believe there are people on talkbass saying this looks good. It looks like a toilet seat lid!! no accounting for taste!
22. are you already recording with both a Mic and a DI at the same time already. If so this is something to check https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SI9_uLN-YWA what gear are you recording into? I would definitely say try going DI straight through a decent DI Box just to see if it some something that your amp is doing.
23. another one for Right angled into the instrument. The only jack failures i've had, have been straight angles sticking out the bottom of the instrument and banging on me or something else. Also broken one output jack through putting pressure on it by having the straight jack resting on me and then breaking the jack on the inside of the instrument. Only use right angle now.
24. well if you're a mental health nurse you probably do need your head examining
