  1. maaaaaaaaaan!!! if i had £1400 i'd jump in my car right now and buy it!! That thing is gorgeous!!!
  2. Been playing in a fun covers band for the last few years, but band mates really aren't very motivated and I want to play gigs and write material with some like minded people. Happy playing pub / rock venue gigs, but would like to move up to playing some of the outdoors events and festivals around Dorset. Got my own gear. Happy with my sound, but also in an experimenting with pedals phase to find more variety and distinctive sounds, but I use them sensitively as I am aware as to how annoying a bass player sticking on various pedals every couple of minutes can be. Sing decent backing vocals. I did music at Uni and have been playing cello since I was 4, so I can adapt to pretty much most things and have a very good ear. Styles I enjoy: Blues - Blues Rock... Jeff Healey, Crossroads, Stevie Ray Vaughan, stuff from Hendrix, Stones, classic rock all the way through to Foo Fighters, Artic Monkeys, QOTSA, RATM, SOAD. Enjoy playing some fun rock stuff like Poison / Queen. Happy playing pretty much anything, but those are styles I already am pretty happy with. I haven't really been stretched much as a bass player or had time to do practice as I have been giving up pretty much all my spare time to do youth work, but that is changing and I will learn new things very quickly. Thought I'd post this out and see if anyone was looking as I've not found any stuff in Dorset recently. I would travel from Ringwood and Christchurch - Wareham and Possibly Dorchester distance if it was the right thing, but I am local to Poole and Bournemouth.
  3. Bought a Diago Tourman off him in good condition all as described. Nice guy to deal with too. Thoroughly recommend!
  4. Bought an Aguilar Agro from AKAK and he was very helpful. I can confirm his is not a two headed goblin or hobgoblin and is not going to run off with your money!!
  5. Bought a beautiful Lakland 44-02 deluxe and it is wonderful. Mint, not a scratch, just played it for a first time tonight and it was great. My first ever transaction on Basschat and couldn't be happier. Gareth was really helpful to deal with, you can trust him to sort you out!!
  6. I have to both agree and disagree. I think it depends as to what you want to get out of your bass playing, the sound you're going for, and what gear the bass is going into. Yes it is subjective to your ears, but it depends what those ears want to hear. You may think you're getting a great sound with a £100 bass going into a fairly standard PA / AMP, and someone with different ears may be listening to you thinking "This sounds HORRIBLE!!" You just have to get comfortable with the sound you make. Personally I am completely in love with my Warwick (German made) as the clarity and preciseness of the sound and it's tone, blew away every other bass i'd played up until that point in my life. I have just got back from a massive 7 hour road trip, culminating in my collection of my first ever Lakland.... so excited to play it. Last weekend i spent 3 hours in my local music shop A/B testing Fender P and J basses. J beat P for me... and the winner was a £400 MIM Fender J bass (over £800 USA Standard and Deluxe J's) ...... Until the very helpful salesman pulled out a £1275 Fender J '62 Vintage Reissue, that completely stomped all over everything that went before it. (i don't class those fenders as high end). But then my friend who plays bass in the band that plays at the same gigs that my band plays in, has a £300 squire that he plugs into my gear and gets an amazing sound out of and i've played it and it's brilliant.... but the sound it has is not the sound i'm after.... but i love it. So you see why i said i agree and disagree!!! Very early in the morning ramble over.... time to go to sleep!!!
  7. DROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL..... my goodness that thing looks lovely.... *goes and puts his car up for sale....
  8. I have one of these and it is an excellent bass.... fantastically sensitive to good playing. When i stepped up to one of these it made me a better player as i could actually do things and hear details that you couldn't hear on lower quality basses. I will be keeping my Corvette forever as it hold a place in my heart that no other bass can take..... a slightly emotional BUMP!
  9. PM'd..... (my first ever PM I am a brand new member today!!! )
