  1. but it was just a normal allen key? no special truss rod adjustment device thingy?
  2. for clarity i was just posting mine about 20 secs after merton posted this
  3. fair play to you guys for coming on to defend your product. as i explained 2 posts below my original comment i was being a bit tongue in cheek, but i'll happily take all of those guys contact details, would love to get in contact with them I think the point about price when developing your product should be thought about the other way round (although i'm not a 34 year old amp manufacturer). Are bass players / their guitar playing friends prepared to spend £600 on the product? Maybe not pricing it thinking... it cost us this XXX to make so we need to charge XXX. It would be great to try it, but i don't think i'm the type of person it's aimed at (although i do have a beard ), I have a bass amp, guitar amp, audio interface and cables to connect them together. Sometimes one of the 1st few products to come along like this gets a bit of an unfair 1st hearing and we should try it to see how it stacks up. Maybe in the future we'll all turn around and say "you remember when ashdown brought out the B Social?" as we are sat around our wirelessly connected bluetoothed mobile studios. It might be a nice way to get rough tracks laid down when writing ideas / songs, but i doubt it will have the necessary quality to be used for serious recording to replace the need for a decent AI / Preamp but as you say we'd need to try it to make an informed judgement. The point i'd make would be, if someone wants to seriously record, they're still going to need to get an AI anyway after they've bought your product. I might be missing the concept, but great that you've spent 2 years of hard work developing it and are proud of it.
  4. I thought i would post this question here instead of repairs and technical as i thought i was more likely to get a response. I have a 2002 US Spector and I am attempting to adjust the truss rod for the 1st time. I don't have an assorted Allen Key set..... yet. I have tried all the allen keys i have, a couple were close, but no cigar. Have had a look here http://www.spectorworld.com/setupprocedure.htm and it mentions about a 4mm wrench. I'm assuming this means a 4mm allen key. Is there a specific Spector truss rod adjuster i need, or do i just need to get my backside down to a hardware shop and pick up a could of different allen key sets (as i need the small ones for doing the bridge too). I thought this was where to come. Payment may be forth coming in the shape of pics of my 2 spectors.... that should be on here anyway!!
  5. if you have a decent laptop you can get a decent midi controller keyboard for £150, something like a Novation Impulse has some decent functionality around the £150-200 mark. however you will then need music software to get the most out of it. i use ableton as it's generally regarded as the best for live performance (and works on PCs and Mac. You then have full on recording software and options coming out of your ears. if you don't have a decent laptop then this is not a cheap option as you will need a midrange to decent laptop in order for this to work.
  6. the reflex will control 3 different pedals at the same time. but it is much more limited because you can only use 1 pedal to do it.
  7. might be worth having a look at the soon to arrive Source Audio Reflex pedal.
  8. never wanted a P Bass..... until now!!! if only i wasn't in a non-buying phase!
  9. i've never played a bass like my ACG. the filter preamp is great, but the bass itself just sings. it's the only way i can describe it. mine has the asymmetric neck and it's great to play. when i pulled it out for the 1st time with my bass teacher (a touring pro person) he was well impressed. Buy one, you won't regret it, and if you want comparable quality from other more famous bigger name luthiers be prepared to spend at least £500-2000 more. This is my one http://www.acguitars.co.uk/acg_admin/wordpress/portfolio/0037-finn-sc-classic-4-string/
  10. i've never played / used the standard one, but the Deluxe one is totally great because of the EQ. It took me a long time to realise how important the signal going into a pedal or the ability to EQ a pedal can make such a big difference to a pedal sounding arse and sounding great. It took me ages to figure out why my Bass Big Muff sounded rubbish and it was because i was sending a screaming hot Warwick $$ signal at it. Put a passive J signal into it and wow....
  11. crikey i was sleepy when i typed my reply this morning.... had to edit it 3 times!!
  12. if you're worried about drive pedals having to much treble, then you definitely want to look at one that has treble / eq options on it, or look at using it with use of an eq pedal / settings on your amp to control the treble. remember with youtube videos it's all down to the quality of what they were recorded with and what you're listening to them through. you can get a rough idea but you'll never get a proper picture unless it's done by the actual pedal manufacturer or a decent music company. At that point you have to remember they're probably running through much nicer gear than you have. I got Kevs Darkglass VMT Deluxe and it is EPIC!!!!! and the inbuilt EQ makes it amazing for dialing in/out certain frequencies. I used it playing Electric guitar on the weekend and the FOH asked me to cut my low mids... so i did what a great sound
  13. i believe trrs
  14. it was more of a tongue in cheek comment based on people's usual comments about ashdown cabs on here. To each their own (Nate Mendel uses Ashdown and I love foo fighters) so Ashdown can't be all bad
  15. i guess they're hoping people will spend £600 on something that will do several jobs poorly, rather than spend a few hundred quid more on separate items that will do the job properly. anyone wanting decent recording quality will get a proper audio interface. anyone wanting a decent amp / cab will buy something not made by ashdown. anyone wanting a decent wireless system will buy a decent wireless system.
  16. best thing to do is get in contact directly with source audio. they have customer service that is 2nd to none. obviously be aware that NAMM is on so their response time will possibly be a bit slow.
  17. just laid my hands on a 1996 Fabtone, not had a chance to play it yet. got it from some bloke for the bargain price of £10!!
  18. well chuffed for you man! purchaser will be well chuffed with that! I've thought about buying it so many times, but seeing as the girlfriend has mentioned that I have far too many basses as it is and I have a problem, there's no way i could justify buying this. Welcome to the ACG club whoever picked this up
  19. takes one to know one G.A.S. !!!!! always at your weakest to making offers you don't mean to make in the small hours of the morning!
  20. Being bass player in my band with a decent sized car, i normally ended up being the one who carted a lot of the band kit around. Went to play an outdoors gig, remembered all the band gear and my stack. Drive to the gig and help unload and spend the next couple of hours helping to get the drum kit in place and get my stack sorted, monitors and FOH all sorted. During this time the rest of the band turn up.... I mention that I've been here helping for an hour or two like a martyr and that if they'd got here sooner we could have had a good hour of sound check and sorting the set nice and relaxed.... we then go to sound check.... and I remember that I have left my two basses propped up by the door of the rehearsal room 30 mins drive away because only an idiot would walk past his 2 basses on his way out of the door to get into his car..... It was a very fast round trip back to the rehearsal rooms to get back with enough time to soundcheck much to the amusement of the rest of the band!
  21. or just use it as an excuse to get some new pedals that do the job on a smaller board!!
  22. I've never managed to get to the point of having a fully finalised board and don't think i ever will, i'm always moving things or experimenting. There are some regular pedals that are always in the mix, but i've never settled on any definite set up. For me it's been made a bit more fun by starting to learn guitar, so i'm now experimenting with which pedals work on guitar as well as bass. That has opened my eyes to some pedals that i'd kind of given up on. Best advice i'd say is take photos of the whole board, and then photos of all the individual settings of each pedal so you can very easily get it back to close to how it was (however if you have a load of presets saved that you might then change, i understand your reluctance as it can be difficult to dial presets back in unless your able to get an accurate photo of the settings)
  23. Marmite is Troll's sweat harvested from the armpits of Hairy Trolls!!
