  1. Well I never knew that. That’s 100% fake then! I was 99% sure it was fake but thought I’d ask the experts.
  2. I may well be on the verge of brain fog. I can feel it building up in my frontal lobes. So if I add an active blend pot then my system is now all active? I guess it must be as it’s now powered but the volume and tone controls would still function in the same way wouldn’t they? Am I convincing myself that active is best or maybe a bass with one pickup? That would solve any blend issues!
  3. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F283230711842 No pic of the serial number, no receipt, lacquer on headstock looks a “non traditional” fender orange peel finish. But what do I know?
  4. Is this a Shuker P bass or a Shuker JJ Burnel signature? Can’t quite see the signature on the back of the headstock?
  5. That takes discipline. I know from experience I’m not good with that. I wonder why there aren’t pots that have a detent at 90-95% to assist in compensation for a known issue. Active blend may be the best option for the ill disciplined!
  6. Yep I think I was just after solving the blend issue rather than going full active. I’ve had John East preamps in quite a few basses and they were fantastic but then I’ve gone all old school, valvey and passive.
  7. I was trying to keep all other controls passive but just have an active blend. Isn’t the uni pre a full modular preamp system or does modular mean you can use as ,icy or as little of the modules as you want?
  8. Thank you. I’ll have a look around. I thought active blend was the only way but have never tried one in an all passive set up.
  9. Recently I’ve been thinking how disappointed I am with fender volume, volume, tone controls and the way that the volume dies so much when both pickups are on full. I realise this is due to the additional resistance of the other pickup’s circuit acting to resist and therefore reduce the output but I wondered is there a way around it. I had wondered about passive blend control but apparently the same thing happens at the centre detention of the blend control I.e. volume roll off. I had wondered therefore whether to use an active blend control. I think EMG do one but I can’t find out whether that can be used with passive volume and tone pots. I also don’t really want to go full active preamp as I’ve suddenly realised that amps are better at eq than most preamps. So my question is what am I to do to have equal volume whether on bridge, mixed or neck pickup? The bass in question is an 80s MIJ Fender Jazz but it happens with all my Fenders. Just asking!
  10. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.de%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F173607080849 Its not even in good nick. It’s our German friend though.......
  11. It appears that these strings have been bought in bulk by people and are being passed off as real elixir strings on eBay AND some buyers are stating they’re fakes. I haven’t got any real elixirs yet but they must be fakes (£9 doesn’t get real ones and defo not from China) although bizarrely they were decent strings, very bright. Probably not elixirs though. As it happens I was going to buy some real ones but ironically I now can’t decide where to get them in case they’re Chinese fakes!! “Wish” I’d never looked into them now as I’ve put myself off getting any......
  12. Apparently it started out life as a Westfield corvette bass.........
  13. A good point well made. It just amused me that the bass referenced as fitting in it, didn't.
  14. As you can see, he says, it will fit a precision bass (well most of it, except the end bit) and any smaller guitar...... https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F332841527944
  15. Ash bought a badass bass bridge from me and it was a pleasure to do business with him. Thanks Ash.
  16. Badass II bridge in great condition with grooved saddles fitted but also with 4 spare saddles (E and A string saddles having had 2 grooves cut which spoils them aesthetically). Standard 5 screw fender mounting. I’m only putting it up at £75 as it has 2 sets of saddles with it and spare saddles cost about a tenner each. Uk postage included. European postage will cost a bit so please ask for a quote.
  17. Up for grabs is my excellent MIJ 2015 Fender Aerodyne Jazz bass. It has the stock black bound body with dark stained rosewood fretboard and smoked hardware for a perfect stealth look. In fact it’s that stealthy that I couldn’t find it this morning...... It’s recently been set up with new 45-105 rotosound roundwound nickels and plays perfectly. These are verstaile basses as they have p/j pickup configuration giving a good old thump from the precision pup but adding in the crispness of apthe jazz pup in the bridge position. These have no pickguard and a 20 fret jazz width neck with only side fret markers - adding to its stealthiness. Comes with a fender padded gig bag and fender strap. It’s got one very very tiny chip on the headstock and everything else is perfect, in fact it’s very shiny having had a polish yesterday. Will post anywhere. Uk insured postage about £35. Europe will need a quote dependant on where...... Here are the fender specs; Lightweight, high performance, special edition Jazz Bass Basswood body with cream bound carved top and Black urethane finish Maple neck with fast-playing "C" shape profile Stained rosewood fingerboard with 20 medium jumbo frets 4 saddle standard bridge and Standard open gear tuners Black Top mounted Stratocaster output jack, skirted control knobs Smoked chrome hardware complements the finish beautifully Matching black headstock with silver Fender headstock logo Standard single-coil Jazz Bass and Standard Split single-coil Precision Bass pickups guarantees impressive tonal versatility Thanks for looking.
  18. I haven’t bought any real ones yet but will when the coffers fill up a little.
  19. Their prices are really high for everything sold and yet they have 12763 feedback score. Who buys from them I wonder....
  20. Looking at that makes me feel slightly sea sick....
  21. Just picked up a renovation project Washburn force 8 with a smashed up scratch plate. I could try to make one as it’s only single ply black but having never tried one before and not really having the right gear (yet), I was wondering if anyone on here makes scratch plates using the old one and a little imagination (there’s 2” section missing.....) Thanks.
