At first glance this looked like a genuine ad by someone selling something they knew nothing about. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F362414758639 However, since it’s a lovely select USA jazz I thought I’d back check and the same photos were used to sell the same bass on 27th July in the US of A. The seller claims not know much about it as it was his uncles piece. I can’t attach the completed listing but search completed items with fender Jazz amber burst and it comes up. So, as it’s located in the Isle of Skye, cash on collection, is it genuine or is it a scam (although I can’t think what scam it would be for cash on collection)? Oh yeah and they created their account with a flurry of small purchases on 6th August. Me smells a rat. Maybe. Maybe it’s an attempt to boost the flagging visitor numbers to the Isle of Skye now it rains there every day again. I'm a bit confused......

Would it be worth me noting that there's a mandarin just appeared for sale in the forum?

Glad to see this post is losing its a peel. Frankly it was becoming rotten to the core.

Good job I’ve got a thick skin..........😁

I hope nobody is taking the pith?

Sure thing. I’ll take some pics and maybe report back on it when I get it.

My offer was accepted. Personalised orange bass on its way for mr orange.......
-
I couldn’t help but put an offer in on it. All reviews seem pretty good, it’s a bit unusual, it’s orange and, well, it has my name on the headstock.
-
Orange. My favourite colour. And being my surname I must surely add it to the collection......

I could do with getting this gone before my hold so price now £30 posted.....that's cheap for an EMG pup isn't it? For sale EMG active precision pickup just taken out of a hybrid bass that really should have stayed as a jazz but that's another story..... Was working fine when I rescued the jazz bass. As the jazz was from the late 80s and the pup was in it from new (ish) I'm assuming this is one if the original EMG active precision pups plus the newer ones have terminal block connections I think. Condition is OK, used and not mint by any means with part of the EMG having rubbed off. Wiring instructions can be found online. Now £40 including UK postage. Will post anywhere though.

It’s easy to report the item to eBay. open up the item, check for that dodgy advert type I mentioned above and the in the top right corner there are 3 dots next to the shopping basket. Click the 3 dots and one of the options from the drop down menu is to report the item to eBay. I choose “listing practices, fraudulent activity and you suspect the item is fraudulent” and submit. The window looks like the pic below.

This is what the ads always look like. Any like this are fraudulent;

Cheap Geddy Lee Jazz. London crack converters. Be quick
vinorange replied to vinorange's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
That was my thoughts and I was going to say why would someone fake a mex. Still, now verified as a true Geddy, then it was a bargain as they’re selling for between £500 & £600. -

I think it's genuine. Serial number, signature. bridge and logo look right to me. -

Is it? -
This is the same account hacker or hackers. They’re a bit obvious as when you go to the listing details they always ask you if you are ready for a deal and if so to email so as to complete the deal off eBay. The email is always the same but the eBay seller ID is different (as the account is has been hacked) but all the listings are similar in content. It seems eBay are relying on the punters like us to inform them of bogus listings. I keep reporting them when they crop up - so should all of us. When I spot another I’ll post a pic of the typical ad content so we can continue to serve the public with our vigilantism!!!!! Hope we don’t report any genuine ones along the way. I’d hate to miss a genuine 62 P bass with a buy it now of £999.

I got mine from him too. He’s certainly a decent seller and it was with me super quick despite coming from Italy. -

I’ve got one and at £250 they’re a great addition to the home studio. All the bits work on mine and the apptek port works well with iPad / iPhone guitar / bass simulation apps. They take it from a useful practice amp to a great sim amp.
