  1. Bargain alert! Ihave a 1980 Elite and that era was superb.
  2. Harry White. He’s a skilled luthier banging out very good Ric copies to your own spec. Some say they are better than originals and cheaper too. I enquired a few years ago but didn’t go ahead as I’m a brand snob and couldn’t quite bring myself to pay a lot for a (very good) fake.
  3. Price dropped to £75 which is under half to the retail price. Fender pure vintage 74 reissue pickups in great condition. Bought for a project and then didn't bother. Perfect working order. 7.91 kOhm bridge and 7.25 kOhm neck.
  4. Roswell copy of Seymour Duncan SPB3 quarter pounder. High output P bass pickup (8.53kOhm) Looks in great condition.
  5. Crel handwound 7.68kOhm bridge pickup 94mm so standard jazz bridge width. Excellent condition. Was in the bridge of my USA Jag but I returned it to stock.
  6. Price dropped to a tenner. I just want someone to them rather than me bin them tbh. Nice condition assumed rotosound flat wound strings taken from a Rick 4003 so cut for 2 aside headstocks but with plenty of silk left (probably not enough for 4 a side)
  7. Legato comfort strap, 4" wide, extra padded. Has schaller strap locks on. Excellent condition. £10 plus a bit for postage.
  8. Up for sale is a Darkglass vintage deluxe mark 1 tube emulation drive DI pedal. Perfect working order with new power supply. £165 or offers.
  9. I have a 1980 4001 which is fantastic. The neck is skinny, stable and the frets don't wear with roundwounds. I replaced the bridge with a hipshot as the old bridges are a weak link for sure but a 78 would sound and play really nicely in my opinion. I have 2 other Rics, a brand new ltd edition orangeglo and a 2019 Ltd pillar box red with .apple board. I've also owned several others down the years but you cannot beat the gnarly grunt and playability of a 4001. Also, the necks are fiddly to set up and should be done by a pro but once set they rarely need tweaking. I can do my own fret levelling and set ups but won't touch the old hairpin truss equipped 4001. It was set up 2 years ago and plays as well now as then. Guess mine is a thumbs up to joining the Ric club.
  10. What a tricky question. Playability also to me also means comfort and versatility so the red 4003s would be the most playable. With having a maple board it’s a bit snappier so is less of a one trick pony and of course no body binding means no forearm injury so if I was gigging and needed the most playable then I'd take the red.
  11. Sure is. Number 11 of 30. My surname is Orange and it was sort of meant to be.......... On the left is a very good nick 1980 4001, middle a 2019 limited run pillar box red 4003s and of course, L'Orange on the right.
  12. New addition
  13. Bought to go in my shuker jazz but swapped back to the originals as they suited the bass better and mow lingering in my parts draw is this set of fender pure vintage 74 jazz pickups. Ratings / measurements are: bridge (red dot) pickup is 7.78k ohm and is 94mm. Neck (blue dot) is 7.14k ohm and 91mm. Thanks for looking.

  14. Hand wound JB42 Crel jazz bass pickup from bridge position. 7.57k ohms, 94mm. Dated 25/11/21. Taken out of my Jag bass to return it to stock. £50.
  15. Up for sale, after another failed attempt to get back into the music scene which ended before it started, is this wonderfully resonant, loud and clear single active speaker solution - particularly useful for some state monitoring for DI pedal users. I was going to pair this with my Kemper and it worked wonderfully but I've got no use for it so I should offer it for sale. It is exactly as when I bough it on this forum last year. It has a decent RCF case but the zip is broken and it has the original RCF box. I can post it within the UK or can drive within 50 miles of the Wirral to meet up Here's the link to the original ad with pics:

  16. I wondered why there were 24 pages of comments for a Gibson bass. Now I see why & donation made. Sorry to be late to the party.
  17. Beautiful bass. I’ve got a 1980 Jetglo and they have the snarl that the later ones don't. I’d never sell mine but glwts.
  18. That’s a bargain for a GL USA jazz. I have one (and they are amazing basses) otherwise I’d grab this pronto,
  19. Bump for the best jazz bass you’ll ever play. like @bubinga5 I’ve owned one twice (I just bought back my old VJ4 after a 7 year search) and there is no better jazz bass
  20. There is no chance that it’s going anywhere. I used to have a strict one in, one out policy but I’m over that now and deploy a strict 5 in, hide two, sell one policy!
  21. I've gone for an RCF 735A so here starts my venture into the world of profiled bass sounds in a live environment. Here's hoping.....
  22. This is why I'm keen on the no amp set up. I searched for ages and tweaked an SVT profile on the kemper and through my home monitors it sounds brilliant with all my basses. It's the sound I want to carry into the live environment. That may change in a band situation but the kemper is so editable that I know with a few tweaks I'll be able to dial in what I need.
  23. Well to resurrect an old thread, I did regret selling that modulus but kept a watch out from when I realised - back in 2017 - until 2 weeks ago when I spotted my very own bass up for sale in Some Neck guitars in Dublin. Guess what? We’re reunited and it feels so good…..
