  1. Trade possible for basically anything Fendery. Could be Jazz or P, Mex, Jap with cash my way or USA. Would prefer a USA deluxe P or J. Up for grabs is my 2008 (not 2011 as originally stated) USA Musicman Stingray in natural gloss finish with waxed maple neck. It’s in superb condition with only a few small dings to the top of the headstock and one small surface impression to the left of the pickup. This is the 2 band eq version which, according to many on this very parish, is preferred to the 3 band. It does sound and play brilliantly after its new strings and set up. It’s just had a full pro set up including minor fret level (it didn’t need much off), fret re-crown and polish, relief set, new bone nut, new rotosound 45-105 strings, intonation set and action set nice and low. The neck has also been cleaned and re-waxed and it is so smooth to play. There are a few minor indentations on the back of the neck but barely noticeable. Weighing in at 4.2kg and with a 43mm nut width, it’s a fantastic classic sounding Stingray and comes with Schaller locking strap buttons, the original Musicman case and strap locks will be included. I will ship it insured in the UK with UPS or it can be collected. I could also deliver it within 75 mile radius of Chester. I can ship it abroad but will be extra. Thanks for looking.
  2. And another for that matter...... https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F192926132325
  3. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F283497441696 Seems rather cheap if you live near Rugby.
  4. Thing is, are they any good? I would imagine you can’t go wrong with a hand made UK built bass for less than a Mex Fender. I’ve owned some zoot cabs and they were really good but his basses???
  5. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
  6. Interesting. I had read that 2 bands were bigger sounding but good to hear they’re preferred weapon of choice here. I’ll put my toolbox away then!!
  7. Considering converting a 2007 2 band USA MM stingray into 3 band. Just wondering - as a non stingray expert - what people think. Is it worth the hassle? Are 3 bands better than 2 bands? Should I just keep it original and wait for a 3 band to come up?
  8. A good point, well delivered! Skills - yes. Memory - no chance...... I would take photos, remove and keep the old harness just in case. As an aside I’m also thinking of upgrading the preamp as it only has treble / bass boost (or cut). It’s s bit all or nothing. I’d rather have a nice boost / cut preamp with centre decent. Maybe..... Again I’d keep the old preamp with photos.....
  9. £850 plus postage, can deliver within 75 miles of Chester or meet up or can be collected. Possible trades or partial trades with cash my way (I can’t add cash to any trade). Anything with 4 strings but I favour Jap and US Fenders. Up for sale is my 2014 made in USA Gibson ES339 Memphis studio semi acoustic / hollow bodied guitar in ebony. It is the twin humbucker version with vintage super 57 bridge and 57 classic pups, comes with custom Gibson case, gold warranty card and certificate of authenticity. It is in excellent condition with only 2 very minor surface marks on the lower bout and it plays brilliantly having had a fret level, crown, dress, polish and set up not long ago. Currently strung with Ernie Ball 10s it is a wonderful playing and even better looking guitar but, alas, as a sausage fingered bass player it needs an owner with skills to match its looks and quality - not a jumped up 4 string busker (me).... Will ship it very safely, probably double boxed to keep it safe. Can be viewed, played or collected near Chester. I can always deliver it or meet up within a 75 mile radius of Chester. Open to offers I picked this blurb up from Gibson; New for 2014 - the compact ES-339 Studio has classic f-holes, two Humbuckers and a GREAT price. Features: • Super 57 pickup (bridge), 57 Classic pickup (neck) • TonePros AVR2 bridge • Orange Drop Capacitor • Nickel Hardware • Grover tuners • Gig Bag Thanks for looking.
  10. Some used flatwound strings taken from a 34” scale jazz bass. Purple silks, not cut long enough for through body stringing. Offers? £15 posted? As I don’t know the brand so I don’t know what they’re worth, I’ll just let someone decide if they want them and make an offer. Cheeky, insulting offers considered.
  11. Going back to the pots then, the allparts one was 500k top and bottom, logarithmic. Is that right?
  12. That’s absolutely clear now. Thanks so much for your time and effort there. I’m guessing the tone side of the stacked pot really just follows the convention of the diagram for the passive system above? Thanks very much
  13. I can certainly follow the diagram but I’m going to have to spend some time looking at the new diagram and notes for it to sink in. Thanks....
  14. Mucho appreciado (which probably isn’t Spanish but won’t be far off). I sort of got my head around it a bit last night but not confidently enough to rip the innards out of the bass.
  15. I should add here that the reason for my query is that this bass has just about every combination of tones you could wish from a jazz based bass except the ability to blend the pickups. In active mode with with the pups in series it sounds superb (I know that would mean that I can’t blend the pups anyway in that mode but......)
  16. No worries. Come along for the ride although it may be confusing!!
  17. hello again...... I’m afraid mine is the complex requirement. I wish it was easy but I’m baffled by it. In top down order the switches are; neck pup on / off, bridge pup on / off, series / parallel. The other top left dpdt is active / passive bypass. its the yellow from the existing volume to the the active / passive bypass dpdt that confuses me. If there are 2 volumes I’m not sure what happens to that feed. Although thinking about it, the feed would go to the first volume pot and then the 2 volumes would be wired as normal vvtt? Thanks again.....hopefully the fog of confusion will lift soon.....
  18. I’ve been looking at the jaguar wiring diagram and can’t figure out how to incorporate 2 sets of stacked pots for VVTT set up. In fact I’d go as far as to say my head hurts trying to figure it out...... I’ve attached the jag wiring diagram in the hope that someone knows how to add stacked pots for independent vol / tone for each pup as I’m baffled.
  19. Thanks but hopefully Andyjr1515 has sorted me. Thanks very much though.
