  1. Battery powered partially illuminated metal butterflies on a burned bass. Just what I put on my Christmas list.
  2. I just thought I’d add that the reason for the connector blocks and grey wires is because on my first attempt I got no output so I thought I’d isolate the pickup grounds and try earthing them to a few different places - copper shield, base of pots etc. However it had no effect and I still ended up with nothing! Hence the cry for help.....
  3. Thanks so much for the offer. I’ve took all the bits out now and shipped them off already to a very kind & very handy fellow basschatter who’s taking a look for me. Thanks though.
  4. I was just about to bin these and just wondered if anybody wanted them - for free..... I’ll even cover the postage......
  5. I added the terminal blocks to group the earths rather than soldering multiple wires to the base of pots but that’s probably where I’ve gone wrong....
  6. I’ve decided on neck volume with push / pull active / passive, bridge volume, bass and treble. Should be easy but I’m stupid.
  7. I’m ashamed of what I’ve done but will drop a photo or two...... It’ll be messy...
  8. Yep. I’m useless. I follow the diagram and am sure I’ve followed the instructions correctly and yet I get nothing.......a big fat nothing.
  9. I picked up a really nice custom luthier made bass on here a couple of months ago with twin soap bar humbuckers but with passive controls. In my wisdom I decided to make it active to open up the possibilities of those humbuckers, so I bought a Bartonlini 2 band preamp (which has loads of support tech help and diagrams on line) yet I still can’t get it right despite many attempts so I’m making a cry for help from anyone in the Chester ish area who is adept in the ways of wiring in a preamp....... I think my issue is not getting how to earth things properly but o think it’s time to hand it over to an expert in these matters.....
  10. Price Drop to £550. Trades possible. Try me!! Up for sale is my heavily upgraded Made in Mexico 2003 Fender Mike Dirnt Precision Bass. It’s got a wonderful Wizard Thumper hand would British made pickup, a high mass black kickass bridge, upgraded Gotoh tuners, a black control plate, black knobs, new graphtech nut, black pickguard screws and a black pick guard. The upgraded parts cost £250+. It’s also got a vintage style case albeit with one catch missing but still a really good case. Condition wise, it has had one or two paint chips on the edge which have been filled with nitro black paint so unless you’re looking hard they’re not visible. The body is generally pretty good. The neck has no marks on it and the bass is set up nicely and plays very well. It weighs 4.3kg and the nut width is 40.5mm. I’ve got some schaller strap locks / buttons so will put those on. It’s had a full set up with fret level, crown, polish, lemon oil fretboard treatment, neck relief, intonation and action set up and sports new rotosound round wound strings. It plays well with its upgrades and sounds immense. Based near Chester but can deliver or meet up within 50 miles or will deliver anywhere insured via UPS. Thanks for looking
  11. Owl ong before the real pics are up?
  12. Pics of case, white pickguard and threaded saddle bridge added.
  13. Up for sale is my Pearl White 1987 Fender Duff McKagan Jazz Special Bass. It is fantastic condition for a 32 year old vintage with only a few very minor dings to note. There is one minor 2mm dent near the neck pickup and a small ding on the rear body contour. There’s one scuff on the top of the headstock. It’s clearly not seen much action. It plays and sounds superb and has a good old snarl to it courtesy of those large pole piece precision and jazz pickups. All is standard and it doesn’t need any upgrades as it’s perfect as is. It’s got new rotosound rounds fitted but didn’t need a set up so hasn’t had one! The frets are in really good shape. Comes with hard case which I’ll take pics of and upload later.
  14. Drop to £795 before putting on eBay. May take a trade for a Jap or USA jazz or P or maybe even a Shuker....... Up for sale is my utterly immaculate 2007 Crafted in Japan Jaguar deluxe bass. This is almost collector’s condition and has seen nearly no action. It has immaculate hot rod red paint, matching headstock and currently sports a black pickguard. It’s also got a brilliant kickass bridge 3 way adjustable heavy duty bridge which adds a whole load of sustain. It has upgraded chrome knobs and locking strap buttons / locks. It also comes with the original mint white pickguard.. It’s got a Fender hard case too which I’ll add pictures of soon. It has recently had a pro set up just to make sure it’s ok so had a fret level (more of a tickle than a major going over), crown, polish, fret board lemon oil treatment, relief, action and intonation set with new rotosound strings. I’m not sure I should let it go as it is the most immaculate bass I’ve had except maybe a brand new USA Geddy Jazz I had but needs must as I’ve accidentally acquired 4 basses....... I should add that the original threaded saddle bridge has now been sold so isn’t included now. Based near Chester so can deliver, meet up or just ship it.
  15. Just had a go with my digital micrometer and I think the E is .106”.......probably.....
  16. Well it’s pretty accurate but I thought it was my misread as it was slightly over 105. I will now go an have another check and trust it if it says .106”
  17. The eBay users account has been hacked. They’re a stamp seller and suddenly they’re listing vintage guitars with 24 hour listings with off eBay buy it now links. Ive reported this and the other guitars listed by that seller. Hope I’m right......
  18. Black Schaller Bass Tuners for 4 a side right hand fitment. Includes bushings. Excellent condition with just one minor blemish. Will post hole centres in a mo....... Top hole centres 20mm. Bottom hole (pardon me) centres 17mm. Top to bottom hole centres 35mm. Bushings are 17.5mm. Price dropped to £40 posted..
  19. For sale used flat wound strings taken off a standard 34” scale 4 in a line Fender with plenty of silk / winding. Ive checked and can’t find a definite answer but think these are GHS flats. They have black silks and as much as I researched I couldn’t get a definite on the make. Great condition. £15 posted.
  20. Up for sale is this rather immaculate high mass Gotoh 201b-4 bass bridge in chrome. Standard fender fit, 5 hole, 4 string. Came off an immaculate Jag bass. Selling because I upgraded to a kickass 3D. £25 posted.
