I wasn't, I am just saying what I will do, but apparently it seems gives you and others the right to pass judgement how I am allowed to entertain my punters and now not playing oasis is a 'niche', jesus get a grip! -
Singers who don't understand how music works
Woodinblack replied to Nail Soup's topic in General Discussion
Why? This isn't the day job, this is what I do for entertainment. When I joined my current band it was obvious that my opinion was less important than others on things - fair enough, but I wanted a line in the sand of what I wouldn't do. Oasis was it for me (and seems for other people). I have to play lots of songs I don't like, I play several songs I hate, but I am not playing oasis. I have played with my current band for over 150 gigs including one pub where we have played ever month. Many times people have called out for wonderwall, almost like its a joke now, but they know it is not happening. So no, I don't have to, no 'end of story' thanks very much! -

It makes my skin crawl. Loads of drunk blokes spilling beer everywhere and singing a soulless mindless song at the top of their completely out of tune voice. Absolutely hate it. Its a situation I would have to leave, which is tricky if you are in the band. I hate oasis with a passion, and always have (their music, although I can't say I am a fan of them either), just something in the simplicity and the whining vocals that to me is like nails down a blackboard (except I don't actually have a problem with nails down a blackboard). It makes me irrationally angry, in the same was as eating noises do. -

Literally that makes me happier than you could imagine to miss out. The one thing that would make me want to stop gigging is a group of drunk blokes screaming wonderwall at the top of their voice. We do sex on fire as it is, and I never understood peoples love for that, but no to oasis. -

I would like to point out there is nothing recent about my hatred of Oasis! -
Yes, clearly. Or maybe you are expecting something different. I have been lucky with all my experiences, but TBH, I haven't been to many and I learned how to do the fret dressing myself. No, I am a guy who calls himself a 'software engineer' and it doesn't bother me anywhere near as much as it ssems to bother you. I have never been ripped off by the gallery, I have only been there once, they seemed friendly enough. However, if I did have a bad experience I would start a thread 'Bass Gallery setup poor, anyone else', rather than jumping in on an old thread to tell everyone that every luthier in the world was bad. And frankly, what is an opinion worth if you think everything is bad? Other people have good experiences which you are telling them can't happen. I am not responsible for your moods or feelings, that is entirely down to you, as I said I don't 'want to make you angry' or 'make you feel' as such an expert as you on human psycolgy I am sure understands. I litterally don't care if you are angry or not, you are just some bloke on the internet.
-
And that makes you a troll - you come in here, saying all luthiers are conmen and that your experience trumps everyone elses experience. You alone know how people operate. You of course are wrong there. Clearly we know you are angry, you have come in here digging up a long dead thread so you can have a rant about a company you feel wronged you, a company many use and are happy with. I doubt many in here care if the response made you angrier or not. Ooh, a band of psycopaths, even better, well mansplained. Wrong, but still appreciate the effort. But hating everyone because you went to couple of people is a good idea? I would say with your attitude I can see why people aren't bending over backwards to help you.

Cheap Japanese Geddy Lee Jazz bass
Woodinblack replied to vinorange's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Have they gone up that much then? I certainly wouldn't go north of £500, and absolutely not in that condition. -
Id never heard that, and we had a grey cortina! Well, Silver Fox i think it was called.

What are you listening to right now?
Woodinblack replied to Sarah5string's topic in General Discussion
Good call, I haven't listened to any hawkwind other than Levitation recently. Hmm.. ok, in search of space it is. -
Some VERY good news at last - live music back by the Spring?
Woodinblack replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
Obviously there isn't much demand or all the venues wouldn't have been closing down. -
Some VERY good news at last - live music back by the Spring?
Woodinblack replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
Not worried about people losing their love for live music, just that where I live over half of the places to play have closed down over the last 5 years before the pandemic, not sure what the situation is going to be like when we get back -
I would go with what @stewblack says on this, the FI and the C4 are a different sort of market from the SY-1. Although I find the pedals interesting, if I want that level of control I would either go for using a synthesizer (of which I have too many), or just go the whole hog and get a SY1000, to have the full flexability of all the strings. There is nothing I could do with it that I couldn't do eaiser with a synthesizer, but obviously that isn't true for bass players that want the sound but can't play keys. But the SY-1 isn't one of those, it is an effects box that makes nice sounds, you plug it in and turn the knob until it makes the sound you want, then you play it. I know they aren't a large company but it would be nice if they could do what everyone else does, like two models, <effect> and <effect>mini, seeing as all they would need to do is shove the same board in a different box. I guess one persons 'retro arcade game housing' is another mans 'got it cheap of aliexpress so what do you expect'! But as I said, I am not in the market (I considered one but didn't have space on my board) so my opinion is not really relevant.

Yes, right from the beginning, although I think in 74, he stiffed them out of the money and has been trying the same since. I mean he is a farmer, so its in the blood, plus he has to pay to kill all those badgers. Hardly a waste - they got to play the Cheese and Grain too!
-
Wouldn't it be an idea before that to get past the annoyance at the company (seeing as that hurts noone but you as you already bought it) and as you say, reset and start again from scratch rather than spending more money to get something else. The size of the FI does seem a bit silly when it can be in a smaller box (and frankly it is a very ugly box) but as you have it, might as well make something with it. The midi pedal you already have works with anything else anyway so you haven't lost anything with that. Sounds like what I do, but the sensible part of me would want to work out the FI first, and then either get rid of it for something else, or keep it and use it.

A lot of them probably do, certainly the ones who are on their way up and need the publicity as they can guarantee a lot of that. Headliners less so, though some do for charity. They said they paid Paul McC 200k, which is probably cheap. They get paid considerably less than other uk festivals, maybe only 1/10th of some of them, but they do get paid up to 500k depending on who they are. So I doubt kanye would have got much less than 500k - I mean what would Glastonbury have meant to him?

Cover Versions You Knew Long Before the Original
Woodinblack replied to Mykesbass's topic in General Discussion
I would say yes, quite a bit better, but I guess that depends on if you like slade. -
I had that recently, the guitarist wanted to do a free gig to get people back to gigging at a place that is good to gig. I said I was happy to help one of the landlords who had been good to us, but not them, as they never were, so no way.

I think you will find the commute a bit excessive for a free gig

Hardly if it is referring a track on an album that is 34 years old.
