I don't know if they will... Part of the reason they are so popular is that you cannot get decent quality fender style instruments built to your specification anywhere else for the same price. Admittedly I've not played one, but at a glance they don't really seem to be offering anything new to compete with the others at a higher price point. I think they are going to be most successful at their current price point where they have no competition.
I agree with this. I think this could change in a few years time but currently there only rep is with bass geeks. Ask the average guy and he wont have heard of them currently.

Was livid when youtube started taken down some good versions of there songs.

I fully see the point the op made I have thought the same myself. The difference it would make is minimal. Although there is a difference. Pluck the string directly over the pole piece then move it back or forth a centimetre or so to where the pole piece would be if reversed that's the difference in balance, (not tone directly) it would likely be. Is it worth it I don't know. Although seems to make perfect sense the p pickup should be more commonly reversed.

The cv range is above the vm range there also made on the same line/factory as the fender modern player range. Or at least they were. Infact some would say they were better than the modern player range. The vm range are good for the money and are decent instruments but I found the hardware, overall finish and initial setup to be poor compared to the cv range. Also I once had a vm mustang that had qc issues on arrival. I like both the vm and cv instruments as said the cv range is a step up.

Ive enjoyed reading this thread. Its actually made me want to try a few of these basses. Ive never played a Rickenbacker, now I really want to see what there all about.
-
After teaching a few people the basics now myself often just getting them to hold it correctly is a big first hurdle. Then plucking can be a nightmare too. Then fretting, holding the neck etc etc. For some these very basics can take a while. Be patient.

I shall be going for a actually bassline this month too. My hand will not stray from the first position lol. Or since ive just split up with my gf it might just be a recording of my tears falling gentle upon the strings haha.

Hi sorry if ive missed this but I assume you have a fence around your garden. One of the best relatively cheap security fixes is to put a trellis ontop of any walls or fencing. As its not stable so puts people off trying to get over it!

Now very surplus to my current requirements. Ive moved back into my mams and the neighbours would go mental if I used this, they used to when I had a tiny 15w practice amp. Going to get something like a tascam bass trainer thing. The amp works as it should and I bought it from someone who owned two of these with the extension cabs so they were never pushed hard. Very loud for its internal 200w rating 300w with an extra cab. Condition wise well its not bad at all, ive seen worse and for more money. Now sold. To be picked up only. South Durham area. Can be tested etc

A kind bc member that's local might help you out. There is a thread at the top of the repairs section which has a list of bc members prepared to help with things like set up etc.
mixed set?
No I mean that the silks at either ends of all strings are red at the top black at the bottom. Struggling to identify them still.

Sounds just like my experience with the Acg filter pre. I would just put the tone pump back in. Emgs are fine.
-
The Acg Finn 4 custom that I recently moved on. In theory a great bass but for me the filter preamp was hard to setup right and had a certain sound which for me didn't work. The very asymmetric neck really didn't work for me I like to pivot my thumb a lot in various ways and sometimes it would make the neck thinner or much fatter in depth felt odd. A great bass indeed not for my hands or ears. Sounded good when the new owner played it however. Really put me off asymmetric necks and will avoid them in future. The filter based pre amp well maybe if I spent more time with it I would of got it. So it was a good learning experience no regrets there.

Have you got the marbles to play this violin bass?

Something is telling me that there's a lot of post production done to the sound of that thing. Bet it sounds like a bag of ball bearings in person. -
I thought rotos only had red silk. Not black and red?. I shall see have a look into the rotos

My votes are in. Was hard to pick as I thought they were all good. I think the main thing I was looking for was something that sounded good to my ears simple as that. Non sounded bad though. Next time I'm going to do something really simple in the first position.

I was kindly sent some strings from fellow basschatter eubassix. We both don't know what they are but I like them and would like to know what they are. The strings are flatwound or half rounds. The silk colour is black at the ball end and red at the tuning pegs. The ball ends are coloured red, blue, white and red that's E-G. So any ideas what they are?
Don't neglect the 2 noodles posted on Youtube, though... Twincam ...and ... mimsy89 ...'Twould be better if Soundcloud could be adopted as a de facto standard, but maybe some don't use it..? Dunno.
Yes indeed don't forget the other two (one is mine) on YouTube. I don't use soundcloud as I'm a rebel without a cause so rebeling against soundcloud viva la revolution! Going to listen now and make my votes.

Interesting comments. I see my amp and lead has been tested in the past with another owner. I contacted rehearsal rooms in the area they didn't require it at all although one recommended a visual inspection myself. I think I will get it done at some point if the amp is going to be also used outside rehearsal. More for the fact some jobs worth comes along and kicks off. I do believe old valve amps should be done and fully checked over before use. Ive had old amps and always cut out the so called death cap as they can fail open.
-
Never thought about this but do I need to get my te combo pat tested to take it to rehearsal rooms and such like?

Had 6 offers to come jam or try out for bands. Errm feeling a bit nervous and not sure I'm ready tbh. Only one odd message a guy wanted me to come and have a "smoke" with him lol no thanks.

I shall also give them another listen later on and cast my vote. My criteria is which ever one I like the sound of best. At under a min each shouldn't take too long.
Sounds like UKC has become a dating agency
It's not that different to online dating which I know too much about, although I found my current girlfriend that way.
