1.
Lakland 44-64 Custom?
Very tempting but no thank you.
2. Thank you David. Weight approx 8.9lbs. Just been playing it and I'm almost having second thoughts, really is a great player.
3.
https://youtu.be/-jHzdMo-YCc
Pmsl! I opened that on the iPad so didn't know what was coming before it played. It was on full volume so pretty audible you should of seen the look on my gf's face....
4.
Didn't realise that, but I just don't trust them I guess.

What the Germans?
Hahaha!
5. Horrible news I feel for you, so much sympathy. I thought dpd were supposed to be good. This is why I've never bought a bass or items over a certain value by post. I've sent many basses however thankfully never a issue, but I always think it will happen to me when buying. I really hope it was insured ok and you get the money back. Keep us informed.
6.
Thanks for the comments, I always appreciate anyone actually taking the time to listen to anything I've put up To be honest I much prefer the tone I get from my rig to that I've managed to capture here with my rudimentary (at best) recording skills A few factors involved in trying to get it as clear as possible; I played the piece right over the bridge pickup, almost on the bridge itself to cut down on the plumby ovetones. I also have Wal pickups which have a coil per pole piece, so essentially four mini pickups per string, which helps with the separation, and finally I'm kinda cheating by using a six string as those higher notes on the high C are well into guitar territory. Next month I think I'll just do a bass line something low down that actually sounds like a bass! Enjoying listening to everyone's efforts so far. There are some great players out there in BC land... It's interesting to hear different peoples techniques, I've heard some bits in these noodles that have inspired me to experiment with some different styles and techniques. You don't often hear bass in isolation like this where you can pick up on all the nuances, it's all good
Yes i see and interesting. I enjoy hearing about technique and equipment. And I too have enjoyed hearing the isolation and learning. I have picked up on a few things I would like to know more about/ experiment with.
7.
I was thinking this too. Maybe next month the challenge could be the whole riff has to be played in first position?!
I too was thinking something similar and don't hate her but my gf who plays a little too said "we all sound very guitar like" as I had been playing them to her. And it would be fun to see what people come up with in the first position haha. But I kinda get my girlfriends point and now backed up by a few posts, but I've really enjoyed all the noodles and think they have been great and 60 seconds makes it very easy to listen too if that makes sense. It's also shown how versatile bass is, I intend to undo that next month with my noodle haha, if the noodle challenge is still about.
8. I'm using really light gauge rotosounds, I know new rounds are zingy and the low gauge they are very easy to move so they pick up a lot of noise. Noticed my hand pain i had a recent thread about has already improved using the light gauge. I'm going to put the effort in to improve technique and gives my ears a new sound to tune into.
9. Just listened to xgsjx' s I thought it was really interesting (in a good way), there was a few sounds in there that really got my attention. And also listened to camdenrob's and what I really liked was some of the nice note definition, that I assume is recorded direct? Could you get that definition through a cab, I think I would have trouble getting the seperation and lack of boom (even in higher notes) through my current rig unless I really eq'ed the bass out. I also liked the string noise, It was just at the right level too really add to it. I have enjoyed everyone's noodle and look forward to more.
10.
And yes, as someone who has recently fallen out with you on another thread, this one is perfectly valid and reasonable
Now there's no need for falling out with me. I like everyone.
11.
How is this even a thread?! What next, how do you turn stiff machine heads?
I think my question was valid from someone who has nearly always played with flats or tapes and wants to get a better sound while playing rounds.
12. I normally play with flats or tapes. I've just put some rounds on and the sound is so different, I forgot how much finger noise they generate too. I've identified when I drag my fingers and while plucking also if I'm resting my thumb on the string above to be careful how I move it to avoid unwanted noise. Im going to keep the rounds on to tighten up my technique, but I have no idea how some players sound so clean playing them, it's unnatural almost. Even carefully lifting my finger from a fretted note seems to generate much noise. Any non eq tips or do I have to look at my eq differently too, I can eq the noise out but by that point the tone is too muffled.
13. I like ebay due to the number of people it reaches, ive never failed to sell an item at a good price on there (before fees). I don't like the fees and I'm always worried about scams and so forth or the lack of seller protection. I'm sure the fees are turning sellers away.
14. With much regret putting up my very recently acquired p bass. I bought this from eubassix from this very forum. I prefer a thinner neck. Its a 1999 USA standard which has a rare limited edition (500) one year only, genuine USA 1996 fender 50th anniversary body. The body is real book matched maple, front and back. Its a pretty sweet bass. And has a rare one year only finish too. Its naturally a little roadworn and has been a working instrument. It plays very well. It has some typical marks see pics and some on the rear of the headstock and some very small marks on the neck near the headstock. But still a very nice instrument in decent condition. It really looks the part and theres not too many proper fender flame maple p basses about, the body is pretty rare. Everything works as it should, level frets which have been re levelled, crowned and polished to a mirror finish. Now strung with roundwounds. In the picture of the rear of the body the sunburst looks funny, this is just the camera, it looks just as nice as the other side. Flash on the base pic also makes the dark purple and scratches really stand out in reality it's much darker mostly looks black and the marks are not as noticeable. Now traded many thanks to the bc forum? original fender red label hard case. Posted fully insured, well packed in its case then in a large outer box plenty of packaging etc. I do have a bc feedback thread, last bass I sold was a lovely fender p bass special which I wish I kept now http://basschat.co.uk/topic/226645-twincams-feedback/ TRADES YES anything considered that's 4 string try me. Preferably with a thinner than 42mm nut width. 15. Another good one funkshui, I enjoyed that a lot nice and mellow, seems nicely recorded too unlike my dirty recording. Nice harmonics. Ok here is mine comes in at 59 seconds. Recorded it simply as possible iPad infront of cab. If anyone is wondering I'm on a 90s usa p bass, tapewounds. And I eq'ed the cab a bit thin on bass as I wasn't sure about how the mic would cope I think I could of added more bass and a touch less treble. This was a one take recording too. The noodle itself just formed so I hope I've not copied anything. I was messing about with upstrokes finger style. It then went on to form a longer song inspired by the seasons. https://youtu.be/QI32oXfYh1I
16. Very nice Agwin I enjoyed that. I too thought about uploading first as I have something already. But I had a great fear that I might be the only uploader then the joke really would be on me. I shall upload mine in the next few hours. Actually have to re do it as it ran over a few seconds whoops!
17. I like to leave things plugged in and with the boss tu3 it would drain the battery. So what pedal tuners are there that can be left plugged in (input and output) without draining the battery?
18.
Where in the hand exactly is the pain? It makes a real difference to treatment. I get pain which is actually referred from an ulnar canal issue and I have proper exercises from a physio that really help.
Thumb and fingers and cramp all up my forearm. Mainly at the bass of my thumb. If I play a thinner neck I don't get any issues, maybe I need to give it a bit more time.
19. How did he track you down?
20. Getting some pain while playing very repetitive parts. I have always naturally had thinner neck basses. I have an old hand injury which limits me a bit anyway. At the moment I'm playing a fender usa p bass and it has a really nice neck i thought for a p bass and I love the bass. As said I'm getting pain and cramp on occasion where I'm playing very repetitive lines. I do hand stretching and warm ups. Is there anything more I can do too limit the pain or/and extend my endurance before it sets in? I've tried just to practice more and go through the pain that has actually made my hand hurt even more after I stop playing, and once I did give myself tendonitis. Thinner necks and especially thin necked short scale basses don't have this effect. I would like to really try get any bass no matter what neck dimensions to work for me. But if I can't I will have to go back to a thinner neck.
21. It is clear that within the Mexico factory there is 2 tiers of bass. There standard models and probably some of the cheaper models and then the more expensive models seem to get the pick of the woods more time spent on them and some better quality often usa hardware. As I discovered with my older mim passive p special. They had at the time made a thing about saying they used better woods etc etc.
22. I like it. Good colours, some mojo its good that it has some fret wear so its been played and I'm liking the truss rod adjust system, does it still work?. Worst thing I hate about fenders is the heal truss rod adjustment pain in the ass. Always end up either scratching the plate and or having to take off the neck several times grr.
23. So are we putting our entry links on this page?
24.
Is that even possible?
Wrong challenge and it might require more than the allowed 60 seconds.
25.
I regularly use a Trace RAH 150 into one or two 15s and never been short of horsepower. Trace watts are a different ball game I've always found. Recent (full band) jams, I used my old CTM15 with a Mark Bass 2 x 10, and it did the damage. The right speakers and a decent amp is better than an amp with a claimed 500 watt power rating.
Trace watts do seem conservative also there voicing probably helps too. I have a 200w combo 300w with another cab and it's easily the loudest solid state 200w I've heard. I'm surprised a ctm 15 worked for a full band jam although the mb 2x10 cabs seem really good.
