1.
OMG. The one Anniversary MM I haven't got!

PM'd.
.... yet
2. Bass Direct have one in, and they even made it look chocolatey on the top horn! Very cool bass IMO. Warren, has yours landed yet?
3. I'm struggling to work that out. They don't seem to market a 60's, but having owned a fair few basses with the the 62 CS P pickup in I can vouch for it being very nice. If it's the only one you can order, which I suspect it is, then I'd take the risk myself.
4. Avoid the quaterpounder, huge pole pieces and output make it a lovely pickup but nothing like the Custom Shop 60's P pickup in your bass - yes they are sold separately. Edit - as a 62 P Bass pickup, can't imagine them being too different tbh. If that's what you like, go for it. I like them too, but chose a Lindy Fralin as they always knock me senseless
5.
Isn't the way that a musician can spontaneously reminisce about an instrument with which they have long since parted very strange?
I hear that, strange but sometimes quite true. As I've said already about 100 times this month... I sold my 78 Sabre 10 years ago and always fancied getting another one, it's the only bass I've ever wanted back and I've had tons of good'ns. It recorded amazingly and I had the tunes to haunt me all that time. Live, it kicked it out too. I got a 79 Sabre last month and it's just as good. Fact is, the 78 was a special instrument and this 79 must be too. Is that a Sabre thing or late 70's thing? Dunno. The other many I've played over the years from various periods have been great or good, with no consistent grade IMO.
6.
I have one just like it, a great buy at this price.
Thanks ead, +1
7. Just had a read of this thread, looks like no one has mentioned pole piece size? Or did I muss it? Seems to be a big factor to me as well as the other good points out there. Makes me also wonder about winding differences but I wont lose any sleep I agree with Biro, the Ray HH doesn't do a full on Jazz Bass tone but the tone is still great in those positions.
8.
What a beautiful bass! If I hadn't just splashed out on a us std P bass 2 weeks ago or had a wife I'd be all over this!! 😂😂 GLWTS!!!
Cheers
9. PM replied to.
10.
I hadn't played a Sabre before and it's what a love about several basses all rolled into one.
Cheers brother, I'll look forward to seeing yours in the near future
11. Well said, I knew there was a reason I always left the attack off, and that sounds like it! Couldn't agree more, the clean is just as useable as the OD and distortion, it has a nice bite. Cheers
12.
great overdrive, even without the attack switch!
Cheers pal, it's easily the most useless switch in there as the difference in modes was quite minimal anyway!
13. Heat patches on your kidneys, seriously, it helps warm your blood. One on the spine under your neck is good too as it stops you hunching up from the cold. Yeah, a bit extreme but I've done a few times due to nerve damage and it helped. Add some pocket hand warmers and fingerless gloves and you're set.
14.
This guy is a real gentleman having spoken with him in the past, deal with confidence, great all round guy
Cheers Ewan, likewise
15.
Glorious
Cheers Karl, she is indeed. I put some rounds back on her yesterday and my sellers remorse doubled
16. I met Warren again yesterday, 3rd time he's popped over and I'm looking forward to the next one already because he's a top man. Selling or buying, you've no need to worry with Warren
17. Contact the UK distributor and have your serial number handy, they should be able to help you out. http://www.stringsandthings.co.uk/
18. SOLD Price includes postage. This pedal is cheap as it does have an issue, the attack switch only works in the off position, the 1 & 2 position are not working as they should. But the rest of the pedal works great and it sounds blooming HUGE! I just got this back from a pal who had it for a few years, I've got a Darkglass so this isn't needed. My Hermes postage included at £25 or £20 collected from Harrow. Cheers. Pedal shoot out video below:
19. £850 Relisted 27/7/18 Reluctant sale. 2015 USA Jazz Bass Std, with upgraded Lindy Fralin Split Jazz (Dual Coil) pickups, which are worth around £280 https://www.fralinpickups.com/product/split-jazz/. Nice and light for a Jazz, at bang on 4kg (8.82lbs), balances great and is the comfiest Jazz Bass I’ve owned. It’s in nice condition, minor signs of wear, set up nicely with D’Addario Chromes. The case has some damage to one corner. If my circumstances change I’ll withdraw it again, it’s a great bass, but Jazzes will always be behind P’s and Ray’s for me. £850, no trades please. Located in Harrow, HA1, collection much preferred as I’m unsure I can get this posted anytime soon.
20. Congrats I can't wait to hopefully see Warren's soon. Better cancel my credit card before he visits, love the concept.
21.
Not at the Village Underground in Shoreditch? I was there. It was brilliant.
That's the one pal. It felt all my Xmas's come early watching them jam together. Was a very special night.
22. Such a wonderful player, and an influence on myself too. Keith from PiL is one of my best friends, and back when I was 21 we started playing together. Given that Keith had played with Jah, and Flea, I found myself under immense pressure. But that wasn't a bad thing, and keeping it 'simple' like Jah was and still is a huge influence on me. I saw Jah and Keith do a Metal Box in dub style gig 5 years ago, his bass tone was like the comfort of the womb Huge respect.
23. One more for the Sabre's. I bought it this week, to correct a mistake I made years ago when I sold my 78 Sabre. Every time I hear old recordings of that bass it cuts deep, so I finally replaced it. Should have done this YEARS ago. I've had to let go of two stunning basses to do this, but I'm over the moon still and it's just as good as I remembered and some. My old Sabre was walnut brown and I always thought I'd only go for one of those. I couldn't find one in that colour but this one is so clean and gorgeous that I'm surprisingly not fussed at all. And as a bonus, I got the original case too Happy, happy days.
