  1. Looks like the Sterling is one of Flea’s couch basses
  2. And another easy going and friendly deal with Paul. Cheers pal 👍
  3. Wow, sold before the advert was even approved.... just from the title being seen Love these strings. I had them on my (now sold) Spirit bass, which I used on odd occasions when I needed to stay in hotels. They are in great condition, a little bit played in but not much more then that. £75 at Strings Direct. https://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/strings-c1/string-sets-c865/bass-guitar-c34/la-bella-s500l-double-ball-end-flatwound-bass-strings-43-104-stainless-steel-p13529 Price included postage.
  4. IIRC it’s a tribute to where a pal of the shop fell over while leathered.
  5. Right you are, I was working there at the time - the flaky paint was putting people off. Plus they do always price on the, erm, higher side...
  6. Does that mean we’re dating? 🤣
  7. 1992-3 https://www.guitarinsite.nl/serienummers-squier_eng.php Good luck!
  8. That foam can be a real pain in the butt when that happens. I’d personally chat to Clive Brown first, he’d either do it or signpost you. Clive is a world renowned vintage head, who does simply the best restorations. guitarart@btinternet .com.
  9. Great interview 👍 Here’s a pic of his 64 P Bass when I played it in 2009 - sadly paint would flake off if you just looked at it, but it was stunning to play and hear, so is now in the right hands for sure.
  10. No hard and fast rules with Fender, but read the text under the red Jazz Bass in this link http://www.guitarhq.com/fenderc.html Sure you’re aware, Fender factory was inconsistent, plus often used old stock. And of course, looking for those other clues too of a respray
  11. Do love a Sherwood Green, this is supposed to be a 61.
  12. Bought in 2015 and was my go to until I stupidly sold it in 2017 to pay bills after I maxed myself to buy back a special vintage Fender (wrong move). I was lucky to buy it back and was expecting my Stingray Special HH to remain my #1, but it’s this one that gets played everyday. Sometimes don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone
  13. A well loved 1960 P Bass would be top of my list, as a thing of beauty, to have owned from new to reliced, @hiram.k.hackenbacker knows all about this other beauty which is even more stunning in the flesh.
  14. Almost a yin yang...
  15. Sims haven’t gone into partnership with Cort have they?
  16. No, I’ve been using it all as toilet roll
  17. I’ve had Fender flats on my acoustic bass since 2006, love them. Maybe not as loud acoustically, but the natural tone suits me better. I cringed everytime I tried bronze strings since.
  18. Isn’t karma a bit-ch? Sims lower their dignity with a cheap trick and the BC folk tell it how it is. Gotta laugh 😂
  19. Gutted you’re in this position, I’ve been there many a time with a fine bass. But as you surely know, they’re only wood and metal - family etc. is where life is really at when you’ve got responsibilities. GLWTS (and buying it back if the winds change )
  20. WD might have the one you need https://www.wdmusic.co.uk/pickguards-c62/fender-basses-c111/jazz-bass-american-deluxe-4-string-22-fret-c117 If not, I’ve found recently that most of the recommended custom pickguard makers are charging crazy money. I got in touch with Bass Doc and his prices are far more fair. You may need to send the existing one as a template, though you never know, he may already have one for those smaller style ones. PM if you need his details.
  21. “If you love them, let them go” - she’s much better off getting good use in your hands!
  22. I doubled my bass collection recently when I bought my old Lull back
  23. I sold a beloved FB4 to @hiram.k.hackenbacker - amazing bass. If I had the cash flow and more space at home then I would have kept it for those fun moments that only a FB4/FU4 can deliver. But I have no regrets, it was a joy to have owned.
  24. We work in similar worlds. My work roles are hard to explain, but revolve around quality of life, quality of support/service and staff training in autism and learning disability in accommodation services and/or activity supports. That means most of my workload is based around behaviours of concern (sadly also known as challenging behaviour, and not interpreted in the way originally intended) whereby too often supported people are mostly being challenged themselves by others or environments - so they are not the initial problem, and shouldn’t be stigmatised as challenging. This has been shown to massively affect staff turnover when practice is poor, generally due to poor leadership and training. Cutting budgets doesn’t help, nor does the low wage staff get for a complex role they are rarely fully backed to work in. And with the UK guidance on behaviours of concern focused on debatably ‘evidence based’ behaviourism theories (I.e. not well evidence based as such when utilised in real life situations, and not backed by a plethora of autistic advocates, or even by NAS) it’s dominantly one-sided by supposing that we need to find out why the person acts as they do, as opposed to equally looking at the quality of leadership, training and knowledge in the service - which can cause a huge amount of behaviours of concern... Boils my blood daily - many staff don’t know what they don’t know, so many staff and supported people genuinely suffer stress etc. from it.
