1.
I use a pair of BC212s as well. They sound monster on their sides in a 2x2 config rather than the tall 1x4 config. Something about the speaker orientation just makes it sound full and awesome. Makes sense to get a matching 212 rather than a 210.
Yes i think youre right and am searching the web as we speak
2. Did my first gig with it on Saturday and was very impressed. I had tried it out previously in a shop but this was its first outing with my LH500 and in a pub setting. I was surprised with how much top end it achieved and found myself having to pull back on the LH500 highs to get the sound I wanted. Didnt have to use my attack pedal as I was more than happy with the sound I achieved. We play Mod covers so I like a nice punch with a fair bit of mid range. This is a very rowdy pub with lots of noise so I had my amp up louder than I would have preferred (12 o'clock) but I am under no illusions that one 212 is probably not loud enough for a loud pub so I drip fed some in to the PA to compensate. I was undecided as to whether to buy a 210 or 212 to go with it next month when I get paid, but after last Saturday I think i will definitely go for another 212. Other benefit was the weight at 19 kilos, I was able to carry it in to the gig with ease. Very happy so now on the look out for a good second hand BC212
3. I use 2 jhs vintages as my main gigging basses and cant fault quality. Good pickups and stay in tune for an eternity. One was 50 quid off ebay and other was 200 quid brand new.
4. I don't think they are as popular as they used to be. I remember 10+ years back doing a few and they were okay if it was a lunchtime. Some, however were late afternoon and usually spilled over into the evening so you would get the landlord trying to get you to play on into the night as more punters arrived. Would never do them now unless we had the Saturday night off before.

Roland Rock

Just bought a rack bag from Chris. Great bloke to deal with and case was in much better condition than i was expecting. Very happy
6. Yamaha Stagepas portable PAs are a good option. They come in a range of sizes and powered mixer fits neatly into back of one of the speakers and then there is room in the back of the other speaker to store mic and leads etc. Class D amp and light speakers so very easy to carry around. You can then plug the guitar into the same mixer too and add some basis reverb for vocals. I had the largest 600W version and although not loud enough for big rooms it would be ideal for your application

8. Cool. Cracking venue too. We are playing there a couple of times next year
9. Finally after much debating of a smaller cab than my Hartke 410TP i ordered a TC BC212 which has been delivered today. I will be running it with my Hartke LH500 and using my Hartke Bass Attack pedal for added variety. Ordered from soundslive a fair bit cheaper than others are selling, yesterday afternoon and delivered this morning with a free speakon lead. Cant fault that for service!! I have a couple of small gigs coming up to use it then I plan to get either another Bc212 or Bc210 to go with it, which should complement my LH500 nicely.
10. I think its a great idea. Learning an instrument also teaches discipline and gives a sense of achievement which are great life skills to have. My daughter is 8 today and she asked for a ukulele. i am looking forward to learning it with her.
11. I have the same problem. I have a couple of their P basses which i like. I wanted to change the scratchplate on one so i emailed them but apparently you cant buy them as spares. I also wanted to try out one of the distressed icon jazz basses. I emailed them to ask what shops stocked that bass and they just gave me a list of shops to ring myself. After which it transpired noone was stocking them. Great basses for money but hard to deal with
12. Roughly when we play pubs its 1 hour then 30 min break followed by another 1 1/4 hour plus 2 encores.
13. Me and my mates used to listen to maiden round each others bedrooms. One day one mate brought round the real thing album. 'From out of nowhere' at full blast on vinyl changed my music taste forever. Adored them ever since
14. Very glad I started this thread as there is clearly difference of opinion which I find interesting.
15. AC/DC would be a whole different band without root note bass playing. The simplicity is what makes it sound so good especially on the songs they leave the bass out in the verse and bring it in thumping in the chorus (Highway to hell, shook me all night long etc). Pure and simple but very effective. However Livewire does get a bit boring to play
16.
The Mi12s will give you a fair bit more oomph, but will take up more space and be more of a pain to move. They're not exactly huge and they're not that heavy, but they're not the smallest 1x12s out there. The Mi10s punch well above their weight, but if you need a lot of stage volume, I'd probably go for 12s. Your idea of one of each might be the best compromise however. I've not been much help have I... Eude
No that's great. Anything is better then carrying around and storing my 410 at the moment. I will try and find a shop that has them in stock where I can try both the 10 and the 12 out. Thanks
17. As per another thread i did the other day i am now seriously considering these Mi cabs for my new rig. I will be powering them with a hartke lh500 but not sure whether to go for 2 x 112 cabs or mix it up with a 110 and a 112
18. IMHO i would wait till the band is more established and gigs booked before I spend that much on gear but I admire your commitment and organisation. Good luck
19. Has anyone had any experience with these new cabs in 210 or 212? Having read through replies to a previous post I made here plus some other interesting threads I have decided to try and improve my rig all be it on a budget. I want to replace my hartke 410TP with a couple of 8ohm 210 for ease of lifting, storage and hopefully a better sound. I can not afford top end gear like BF but dont want to spend money upgrading if the difference is minimal. Ive used ashdown stuff before and liked the sound and although my 410TP is ok, i am aware its a budget cab. Id spend about £230 per 210 cab and my plan is to buy one a month. They would be powered by my Hartke LH500. I like the the look of the rootmaster but any other suggestions around that price bracket would be considered or should i just stick with my 410TP? I play mod/60s covers Thanks
20. We gig every 2 weeks so dont really rehearse the songs we know unless we cock one up big time. Rehearsals are just to learn new songs. Me and guitarist meet at his house one night to go through song structure (we share vox). We then meet drummer to do new song(s) properly. So on average Id say we rehearse as a full 3 piece in studio about once a month
21. Seems to be a difference in opinion so maybe a 610 is not as simple as i thought

23. May look for a used 210XL then as they are 200W rather than a 210TP
