1. Weighed it as best we could, comes out at 8lb 6oz. That's the bass with strings but without chrome bridge & PU covers attached.
2. I don't know the weight but will weigh it when my wife's up as I'll need more than one useable hand to weigh it! I'll post back here in an hour or two.
3. I once took a leak in the tween sets break and the bloke stood next to me asked me what I thought of the band. So I assume I don't make a strong impression when I'm on stage!
4. I dunno, our drummer, Darren, is a bit off the wall, but then he'd really standout in our band if he wasn't! Bloody good drummer and a bloody good mate, a true partner in rhythm.
5.
Great basses these CIJ Precisions
They are indeed, but one of my Ps had to go, and won't be the US Standard! This one's just down the road (A420) from Swindon too
6.
That's tasty! Used to have one in white, which I miss dearly. Any trades, or just sale?
Possible trade for an interesting synth, but got enough basses at the moment!
7. The financial pressure is off (for now) and I know I'd regret selling this if I didn't have to, so I am withdrawing it from sale. The second bass I am clearing out is this Fender 60s style Precision Bass in 3 tone sunburst. This is from the acclaimed Crafted in Japan Fender line, and I believe it was made in the early 90s. It has been used for only a few gigs, there are one or two small dings, but none are very visible. The bass is fitted with a Seymour Duncan SPB-1 vintage style pickup; the original pickup is included in the sale. I forgot to get the chrome pickup cover and bridge ashtray, but they are also included. This bass will be supplied in a Fender moulded case, the type that was supplied with US Standard basses until recently Perfectly set-up, currently fitted with D'Adarrio round wounds. Lovely feel and sound. Available to view & play at my house in West Oxfordshire. 8. The financial pressure is off (for now) and I know I'd regret selling this if I didn't have to, so I am withdrawing it from sale. The time has come for me to sell one or two of my faithful basses. First up is this Fender 60s Classic Jazz Bass in 3 tone sunburst. This is the more recent issue, with a nitrocellulose finish and tweed case. I bought it new from Dawsons in Reading (http://www.dawsons.c...3-tone-sunburst) 3 years ago. It has been used for about 40 or so gigs, no serious damage but there are one or two small paint chips, very difficult to avoid these with a nitro finish! Think of it as very mighty road-worn. Perfectly set-up, currently fitted with D'Adarrio round wounds. Lovely feel and sound. Available to view & play at my house in West Oxfordshire. Prefer personal collection, but will courier at buyer's cost and risk. 9. I've been using blue tack for that job
10. I don't listen to any of the music we 'cover' in the band (actually, it's more reinterpret than cover).
11.
You'd be very welcome. For a small town we have an excellent live scene. Fleabag of this parish was playing here with his band Chunk last night (I think).
I've met Mr Bag in Witney, he's a good chap. We've played in Cropredy a few times, and Southam, but for some reason never managed to get a booking in Banbury itself.
12. Can't beat a good rowdy gig, last week on Swindon was our latest, had to stop playing while the police carried an unconscious punter from the stage! I'll have to venture to the north of the county again and check out Banbury.
13.
she may care more about the spelling of Janis though
I blame the autocorrect, I certainly know how to spell Ms Joplin's name! We used to do a cracking version of 'Move Over' with Jenny Haan on vocals, really made my toes curl.
14.
BASTARDS!!! Janice Joplin -"Another little piece of my heart" - perfume ad..
Sadly, I doubt that Janice is in a position to care.
15. This is an article from last week about the sole remaining pub in my village. We have played there many times, most recently last April. http://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/14528485.Mouldy_liver_pate_and_rat_droppings_leads_to_zero_rating_for_West_Oxfordshire_pub/
16.
Which tv do you need for heft?!
I would gladly heft our TV out of an upstairs window
17. I've recently had to start using a pick due to a hand injury after decades of playing finger style, most people think it sounds better! Only other bass players care whether you use a pick, fingers, or half a house brick to play, so long as they like what they hear.
18. Just back from a gig that was booked only on Wednesday. Central Swindon (a nightmare to get around) and an interesting gig...good venue, PA and good sound man, so we took backline only. Having struggled with a dodgy right hand to load my gear, I was disappointed when my Ashdown ABM 500 made a bloody awful noise during the first two numbers. Quick change of leads failed to improve matters, so resorted to my DI box, which saved the day. We had to stop during the first set while the police removed a punter who climbed on stage to talk to us while we were playing and then managed to fall over at the edge of the stage and knock himself senseless in the process! Fights were breaking out outside the pub as we finished pacing up, but despite all that, we had a good gig! Soundman reckoned my Ashdown has a broken joint on the input jack, so I'll try to get that fixed next week. Oh, and the guy who wandered across the stage trying to talk while we were playing before knocking himself out when he fell was trying to buy us all drinks and wanted to know what we wanted, according to our drummer who's from the same part of the world as him.
19.
Couldn't find a latin bass player for love nor money when I was in a latin jazz band!
I went right off Latin when it was a compulsory subject at school!
20.
I love playing bass. I have constant GAS, enjoy looking at bass related pictures and always listen out for the bass in music. However all of this is topped off with the enjoyment of being in a working band. I was thinking the other day that God forbid my band was to end, would I still continue to play bass at home without being in a band? The simple answer is no I probably wouldn't unless I joined another band. To me, all of the enjoyment of playing bass comes from doing it live in a band. Anyone else only enjoy playing as part of a band?
Definitely, I rarely take a bass out of a case unless I'm playing with a band. Playing alone just doesn't do anything for me. Then again, I muck about with synths when I've nothing better to do.
21. I'm still in touch with some musicians in Kouvola, where did you play there?
22. Tervetuloa! I lived around Kouvola area for 16 years. Helsinki was a rare place to visit!
23. I think that's the blues jam that moved from the Jack Russell in Marston when it closed. I played there a few times, but Thursday is usually our rehearsal night.
24. I had this one done a year or two ago, two bass clefs with an Anglo Saxon touch to fit in with the band above it. I gave the basic idea to my tattooist and she came up with a few variations.
